@Zach777 I’m aware of what the world looks like outside of towns and cities… and it isn’t a flat, treeless expanse of monotone colours. This game somehow looks like a backward step from Sword and Shield and Arceus, which is saying something given they were developed at the same time!

What have they done to Pokémon? Why is this game so barren? Why do the graphics look so poor - that picnic scene is just embarrassing. All of these new gimmicks are ridiculous and the storyline is utterly bonkers - a bunch of naughty school children and out to block off roads and you battle them on their boom-bus? Honestly...

This game looks worse than I feared...

Shame the character models are blurry and the overall graphic presentation is very basic and flat.

I can't wrap my head around the fact almost 50 million copies of Mario Kart 8 have been sold on Switch. It's massive and shows no signs of stopping.

I imagine BOTW2 Will launch on a new more powerful Switch console and be a bridge game between the generations like BOTW was with WiiU and Switch.

My most hated phrase is after each easy battle, you hear "When's the real battle happening, then?" in that Cockney accent. **shudders**

To be fair, the difference is night and day. Well done.

Kind of annoying that they’ve baked the DLC into the original game file size and locked it behind a paywall. I don’t want this taking up 10GB of space when I won’t ever be purchasing Sunbreak.

Am I correct in thinking Sunbreak is of a much higher difficulty than the base game? It’s basically and add on for after you’ve worked your way up the ranks, right?

Given it was sold out at Currys/Argos/Amazon etc, this is no small feat.

They aren’t the be-all-and-end-all but bad graphics are distracting and remove you from the world. The textures in this game are bad, there is no getting around that. Close ups are blurry messes. The way characters “float” above the ground is also highly distracting. Buildings are strangely empty. As mentioned, it’s as if all the geography and textures were turned to low even though we know the Switch can do more. It’s distracting and they need to do better.

Annoying for those of us who pre-ordered at £39 and they refuse to refund the difference…

This looks... baren. Where is everything? ten or so copy-and-paste poor resolution trees in rows and patches of lifeless grass? Ouch.

And to all those who say that Pokémon Arceus looks the way it does because “the Switch has weak hardware”, I present you with Kirby in 2022…

Looks rather empty. With all the money and resources they have, is this really the best they can do?

@AmplifyMJ Crazy to think that statistically, 1/5 Japanese people own a Switch.

Is it just me or is this game majorly graphically underwhelming? There’s barely any textures, character models appear to float above the ground, there’s no footsteps in the snow, Pokémon body parts are clipping through rocks and snow and leaves… and it’s so barren?

Can't wait to get my OLED Switch just so I can wave bye-bye to bad blacks (which are just grey on the current console).

I am looking forward to getting mine. It'll be replacing a version 1.1 model bought on launch day in August 2019. For whatever reason, my one has a horrid light halo that runs around the edge of the entire screen on darker backgrounds when on higher brightness - as if the LEDs are non-uniform or leaking. I'm hoping this OLED panel will give me the deep blacks I've been missing.

It looks as good as you’d expect from the Switch but I’m glad I have an Xbox Series X and PS5 so I can enjoy these games to their fullest. Console wars are dumb: play them all and everyone wins.

It’s all about money. Pokémon Sw/Sh expansion is £27 from eShop. It can be had for less than £20 online. Same for Zelda:BotW expansion. Oh well.

@lumothesinner Nobody should buy games at full RRP, regardless of publisher. You can always find them cheaper.

And the fact the game came out two years ago elsewhere (and goes on sale) doesn’t stop it being totally new for the Switch, or any Nintendo console and it costing the same as other new games.

It can be had for £34.99 in the UK, which yes is more than it costs on other platforms but it’s a “new” game for the Switch for all intents and purposes and has a lot of content for the price.

Picked it up “physical” for £29 and looking forward to playing these games for the first time.

Why? All this does is create excess plastic waste!

As much as I enjoy playing the game, when you see images like the first 3 (especially the cave), I can’t help but notice how ugly and bland it is...

A year can be bought for £13 in the UK. That’s like £1.06 a month. What do you really expect for a quid?

And if that’s too much, go share a family account and get it for like £4 a year.

I will buy those Joy-Con since they have so much personality! Love the Joy-Con Straps as well.

Really enjoy Paladins from time to time, but can't get over how blurry it is. This seems to strike a fair balance and look much better. Also, it's only £18 at the minute (including 3-month online membership and £1.80 back in gold coins). Would be silly to pass it up.

I had this pre-ordered, but I’ve cancelled. It looks lovely, but the gameplay looks rather dull. And 12 hours long isn’t great. GameXplain have said the game is very easy as well, with basically no challenge.

Mine arrived this morning. Can’t wait to get home!

Having looked at some of the latest gameplay, I’ve pre-ordered. There’s a new video floating about of it being played on a Nintendo Switch Lite and it looks really decent.

If I can deal with Xenoblade at 360p then this will be fine!
