Re: Switch Won't Suffer From Early Hardware Shortages, Says Nintendo UK Boss

alasdair91

Of course the Nintendo Switch will be available at launch in the UK. The UK has been taken over by Sony ever since the Wii became uncool. It's a shame, because Nintendo offers something for everyone and they offer great systems and games, but retailers here don't even want to bother because they know all they need is Sony to bring in the £££.

I'm down for Zelda, 1, 2 Switch, Super Bomberman C, I Am Setsuna, Fast RMX and Snipper Clips at launch. I'll also probably get the Zelda DLC pass.

Going forward, I've pre-ordered MK8D for April and will no doubt pick up the remake of LEGO City too. I fancy Disgaega in May and later in the year I will pick up ARMS, Fire Emblem, Skyrim, Splatoon 2 etc.

That's already 14 games before we get to the last quarter. I can only play so many at once!

Re: It's Time to Claim Your Nintendo Account User ID for Nintendo Switch

alasdair91

@G0dlike I had this issue. You need to sign out of the "Nintendo Account" completely, click "Forgotten Password" and put in the original email you signed up with and click send reset email. And you'll probably need to do that 5 or 6 times until you actually get one. Then, reset your password and log in with your new one and it'll let you set your User ID.

Nothing Nintendo does with online ever works the way it should...

Re: Amazon UK Offers Nintendo Switch Downloads, Cost More Than Boxed Equivalents

alasdair91

I only buy Nindie titles and eShop only things digitally, BUT I will buy Nintendo 1st party titles if the sale is good and it's a game I really know I will play and keep. Also, because I live in Iceland [and Nintendo basically doesn't exist here], it is often my only option to buy digital - because buying physical games here is extortionate - for example, ZombieU is still 11.000kr [£80].

For the Switch, I have ordered Zelda and 1, 2 Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in physical form, but will pick up Snipperclips, World of Goo and I Am Setsuna digitally.

Re: Amazon UK Offers Nintendo Switch Downloads, Cost More Than Boxed Equivalents

This needs to be the generation where Nintendo realises digital is the future for most and it needs to price things accordingly - and for God's sake, make sales better!

"Steep" Gold Edition is £62.99 on the PSN Store, but it was recently on sale for £29.99. Nintendo would never do such a sale with such a new game - they can barely bring themselves to take 20% off 30 year old games...

EDIT: Also, Nintendo still have not told us anything about the eShop on the Switch. Is it shared between the Wii U and 3DS? Are our funds shared? Are purchases locked to that one console? Do we need to do a "system transfer" if we need a new Switch? 2 weeks to go...

I'm sure it will do the job, and as we have seen 1080p at 60FPS looks lovely. Let's be honest, why do you need more than that? I wager roughly 1% of folk have 4KTVs at home - and of that 1% I bet hardly any have them set up to even see the quality difference properly.

As long as we can get modern games, I don't care. And given we got several Xbox 360/One and PS3/4 ports/co-launches on Wii U with no issue when thought was put into them, I'm sure it'll work out.

Re: Video: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's New Trailer Is All About The Battle Mode

alasdair91

Moan, moan, moan. I have had a Wii U since release. I also have MK8 Wii U and all the DLC. But I'll still be buying this.

Why? Because it's a full HD 60fps masterpiece with everything included PLUS updated modes. Plus it can be played fully on the go. Or with 8 person local multiplayer. Also, I can trade MK8 Wii U in for £10 towards it. Bargain!

Re: Guide: Starting the Battle in Fire Emblem Heroes

This is my first FE game and I love it. To all those who are saying, "Newcomers won't know the characters so won't be interested", I don't care. You learn as you go. Plus, now I actually want Birthright, whereas before I wasn't even considering it.

Nintendo win again!

Re: First Impressions: 1-2-Switch is an Ideal Pack-In Game That's Missing Its Chance

alasdair91

Nintendo says they didn't bundle it in for cost and profit reasons? Well, given that I bet very few people will splash out £40 on it, they won't be making any profit anyway so they might as well have given it away for "free" with their £280 console...

Out of the box, the Switch will literally have nothing to play on it - it'll be an empty console waiting for a slow drip feed of overpriced games. The Wii came with a game, the 3DS came with various games and 3D apps and the Wii U came with Nintendo Land.

I've got one on order, but I'm seriously considering cancelling it. Everything about Nintendo's approach to this console launch screams longterm failure.
