Re: Nintendo Steps Up Its 3DS Marketing for Young Gamers

alasdair91

For once, decent Nintendo advertising!

The one thing I have always worried about was their advertising, or lack thereof. Nintendo thought people would always love them so dropped the ball majorly in regards advertising and only chose to advertise what they thought were important games. To consumers, all games are important, especially if they have few to chose from - not just the few that Nintendo cherrypick for crappy adverts.

I'm still hoping those prices above for the Atlus game reductions are typos and that Etrian Odyssey IV isn't only going down to £17.99 while everything else is £8.99.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan (NIS America, €9.99 / £17.99, was €39.99/ £34.99)
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth (NIS America, €19.99 / £8.99, was €39.99/ £34.99)

Those prices just make no sense, but who knows...

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th May (Europe)

@gcunit Hopefully. I fancy Entrain Odyssey IV, but not if UK folks are having to pay more than double the price over EU folks...

I'll definitely be picking up Persona Q. Wanted it for ages, but didn't want to spend like £40 on it.

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl (NIS America, €9.99 / £8.99, was €39.99/ £34.99)

Either there's a mistake in the article, or the pricing is wonky. Surely they should all go down to €9.99/£8.99?

Re: My Nintendo's Rewards Have Been Updated for May

alasdair91

So North America gets 10 separate deals and Europe gets 3... Nice to see we are being screwed over as usual with this stuff.

The deals also make no sense. Why does NA need 100 Gold points to get 30% off, yet Europe gets 40% off with the same?

Re: Lost Reavers

alasdair91

I downloaded it the other day and finally played it yesterday. It's a bit... meh. You move far too slowly and the R-camera is way to sluggish. Plus, aiming when shooting your gun? How?!

And I know graphics aren't everything, but man. This game looks like something from the original Wii. The production value is virtually nil. But hey - it's "free".

Re: Poll: The Wii U GamePad - Where Do You Stand on Nintendo's Hefty Controller?

alasdair91

I really like the Gamepad, and it was one of the main reasons I purchased a Wii U. I love Off-TV gameplay and 2-player multiplayer. I hope the NX expands on it and make it more portable and gives it better battery life.

But, and this is a big but, it is hardly ever utilised - and even Nintendo themselves are guilt of being super lazy about this. Some games can't even be controlled on a basic level via touch! The amount of times I've wished I could just turn the screen off and play via the TV is ridiculous... It has been severely under utilised and that hasn't helped sales of the Wii U.

Re: Get Ready To Spend Those Platinum Points, New My Nintendo Rewards Are Live

alasdair91

I think these special outfits should be Miimoto-only purchases, but if people want to spend Platinum Points on them that's fine by me.mI'll save mine up for things that are actually worthwhile.

However, where exactly can you spend real money in Miimoto? I've never noticed this. I have the app set to United Kingdom. Not that I plan on spending real money on it.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th April (Europe)

alasdair91

Instead of Nintendo Land and Wii Party U, which can be found for less than £20 normally anyway, Nintendo of Europe should have given us Super Mario 3D Land and Pikmin 3 - which have rocketed in price due to people on a certain bidding website selling them for up to £50...

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors Legends (New 3DS / 3DS)

alasdair91

I don't get the hatred towards the graphics and the pictures included in this article do the game no justice. OK, it doesn't look like the HD Wii U version, but it never was going to. But neither does it look so terrible that you can't work out what going on. I played the demo and from what I saw, it handles well, looks good for a 3DS game and the 3D effect doesn't hamper the gameplay at all on the New 3DS.

I owned the Wii U version, but since I no longer own a Wii U, , I am really looking forward to the 3DS version.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Shares Hope That Miitomo and My Nintendo Will Connect Users With Nintendo

alasdair91

It's bound to be a failure, apart from with Nintendo diehards. I usually love most things Nintendo do, but this is trying to reinvent the wheel which has already been reinvented a million times over.

The explanation of what Miitomo is meant to be doesn't even make sense... "For example, if you're on the phone talking to a friend, and that friend says of a mutual friend, 'Hey, you'll never guess what Chris told me.' That person on the other end of the phone is your Mii. He's working for you."

What does that even mean?! Miitomo is a gossip app? We've already got that - it's called Facebook...

Re: Video: Watch Ganondorf Wield His Devilish Trident in Hyrule Warriors Legends

alasdair91

I think there has been far to much criticism of this game. OK, yes, you could look at this as a cash-in, and yes it is underpowered compared to the glossy HD wii U version, but for a lot of people this will be the first time they have played the game and it is on 3DS, not known for its power.

The new 3DS version includes: all previously released DLC, features the ability to switch characters on the fly, and adds two new story chapters: one based around new character Linkle, and one featuring characters and environments from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker that serves as an epilogue. Tetra, King Daphnes and Toon Link, all from The Wind Waker, along with Skull Kid from Majora's Mask and the original character Linkle, the aforementioned girl who resembles Link, appear as new playable characters. The new characters can also be transferred to the Wii U version. The game's Adventure Mode features a new "My Fairy" system and an additional map inspired by The Wind Waker, as well as more costumes and a new Trident weapon for Ganondorf.

All of that for just £28 in the UK? I'm sold! I pre-ordered mine months ago.

Re: Miitomo Preregistration is Now Open in 16 Countries

alasdair91

Oh Nintendo... This system is totally weird. I have my NNID, my My Nintendo account and now I'm expected to get this thing too?! No wonder everything is going wrong for them. They are trying to reinvent the wheel. Just let us use our NNID account for everything. Please...
