Re: Talking Point: Age Of Imprisonment Could Inspire Next Zelda Game, Say Devs, But What Does That Mean?

Zeugziumy

I just want to see a new artstyle at this point, and possibly a return to the old format, or at least not open world. Sorry, Open World RPGs are not my thing.

I guess it's fine if the Switch got BOTW and TOTK on the same system with the same artstyle, similar to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Though I feel like with the lack of development time of Majora's Mask, there was much more done with that game, as they only re-used model assets and some textures, the world and areas were completely new.

Having the same map on both of the Open World Zeldas feel a little cheap, especially if you already played BOTW. Both games sold well, I think, so yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if we got a third game with the same artstyle and gameplay type.

At the end of the day, I feel like there will always be an indie gem that will attempt the old magic of the previous Zelda games, or the multide of Zelda-inspired top-down games out there, too, so eh, I guess I'm indifferent.

Re: Style Savvy Developer's Next Switch Game Has Been Rated By The ESRB

Zeugziumy

I have been wanting Style Savvy for the Switch for quite some time now. This ain't it but it's the same devs behind said franchise, so I'm down.

I always wanted to play it, but didn't get for the 3DS. An HD glorious makeover would suit this game greatly, so I will keep an eye on this and hope that an US / EU version is on the way.

As someone else pointed out, the artstyle feels kinda Atelier, but it also feels like early 80-90s anime too.

Re: Scott Pilgrim EX Brings More Beat 'Em Up Action To Switch In March

Zeugziumy

I heard a lot of good things on the first game, but I played the version on Ubisoft Connect (before it was on Steam), and I thought it was very mid. It was clunky, grindy, and overall not fun, enemies were absolute damage sponges.

The pixel art looked cool, and there was a good concept there, but the execution wasn't great. And I have played better Beat-'em-Up games. It's understandable that the original on Xbox 360 was its own thing, there weren't too many indie beat-'em-ups back then, but nowadays, eh...

At least it's properly preserved now, I suppose. As the original on Xbox 360 was delisted long ago.

Re: Random: Mario Wonder's New Box Art Might Be The Ugliest 'Switch 2 Edition' Cover Yet

Zeugziumy

That's probably the best choice they could have made. Making an entirely new cover art could deceive consumers into thinking it's a new game (not everyone checks online gaming news).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we don't know if the Bellabel Park is exclusive to the Switch 2 version, or if they will sell as a separate DLC on Switch 1. I mean, I don't see why they wouldn't do that...

If the later is true, then yeah, the messy cover art does makes sense. You are getting the O.G. game (with enhanced graphics), alongside a DLC that adds more things. If the DLC is going to come to the Switch 1 version as a paid thing, it remains to be seen.

It's weird seeing Mario, Luigi and Yoshi again, right below the original (and if you wanna count it, the Blue Toad, even though he was a Goomba on the original cover), and perhaps only including a sticker with "Includes Bellabel Park" wouldn't be too eye-catching.

Could have been better for sure, but at the same time, it's understandable why it's not an entirely new artwork.

Re: Mega Man Returns In 2027 With A "Brand-New Entry" For Switch And Switch 2

Zeugziumy

I know 8-bit games are done to death these days, but for me it feels a little off to play Classic Megaman without being 8bit. The outstanding soundtrack from the 8bit era also helps.

Oh well, there will always be fans who will make demakes out of these newer games, and perhaps an 8bit styled game wouldn't be financially advised these days.

Re: Preview: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Great, But I Want To Kill One Of Its Characters

Zeugziumy

I find it funny we are in this scenario where, just a few weeks ago, people weren't happy that Pokémon did not have Voice Acting, and now here we are. I am aware that the scenario would be similar even if it was no voice acting and it was just text, but perhaps to a lesser degree.

In some cases, it's probably for the best that there's no Voice Acting. I am sure there's some quirky characters in Pokémon that could get very annoying if they actually spoke. Of course, as long as the game has an option to mute voices, I'm good.

I understand why people are not happy with this, though. But we don't know the entire game yet so we'll have to wait and see.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Reveals Rosalina, Bowser Jr., And More

Zeugziumy

@Lizuka I suppose so, but comparing this to something like Toy Story 4, which was announced in November 2014 and only released in June 2019, you do wonder how quickly this one will come out.

Maybe animation work is faster this time around, and / or it's perhaps because this movie is using assets from the first movie too (Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach and Toads all look the same, minus the lighting, of course).

I think first movies will always be more difficult as there's a lot of conceptual work first, deciding on what artstyle to go for, and so on. I think the first movie already put the groundwork on that, so sequels are probably faster due to this.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Reveals Rosalina, Bowser Jr., And More

Zeugziumy

Anyone feels like this movie came out super fast? It was just 2 years from the first Animated Mario Movie.

I thought that doing animation was a very time-consuming work. Unless they were already worked on alongside the first movie...

In comparison, Nintendo announced the collaboration with Miyamoto and Chris in January 2018, and the movie came out in April 2023. The announcement wouldn't mean they started making the movie exactly in that year, perhaps even earlier.

Re: Two Classic Donkey Kong Icons May Soon Join Bananza As Unlockable Figures

Zeugziumy

A couple other things:

  • There was that official Nintendo Switch Online for the N64 video showcasing the display options, that had blurried N64 cover art from unreleased games, one that looks suspiciously like Donkey Kong 64. So I think it's still going to release at some point. Rare's involvement to release this game is probably near zero.
  • Not too long ago, I found out that there's an online manual available on the Nintendo Support website since August 2024 for Donkey Kong 64 and Bomberman 64, two games unavailable on the NSO right now. It's possible that this is unrelated to the service, though:
    https://www.nintendo.com/en-za/Support/Nintendo-64/Nintendo-64-manual-and-additional-documents/Nintendo-64-games-manuals/Nintendo-64-games-manuals-990819.html
  • While unrelated, there was a mistake listing on the Wii U Virtual Console for Banjo-Kazooie, done after the Switch was already launched and successful. I just wanted to mention that even back then it seemed that Nintendo was already in talks with Microsoft.

Re: The Binding Of Isaac Is Heading To Switch 2 With A Full Physical Release

Zeugziumy

Binding of Isaac Rebirth was already a game full of contents, here it's even more (2 major DLCs + 2 minor DLC alongside the base game). There's a lot to be played here, and while the DLCs didn't catch my attention when I played it on Steam long ago, I had a blast with the main game and even got all achievements for the non-DLC version.

The price might be a little bit for a roguelike game, I do agree, but if you are a fan of the genre, you will spend a whole lot of time with this one. I have spent 164 hours, and that was only Rebirth, without DLCs.

Re: Sakurai Has No Plans For Kirby Air Riders DLC: "Everything Is Here"

Zeugziumy

I wonder if DLC means paid content and not free updates. When Sakurai announced that all the original Air Ride courses were going to be remade for this game, I was wondering if the same would be applied to Top Ride and the City from the GC game.

I'd assume that if Top Ride courses were to be remade, they would need to be wider, and perhaps Sakurai didn't want to put the original City in just to have one map for people to enjoy extensively and trying to find all sorts of secrets? Perhaps the original City wouldn't be suitable with the new mechanics in mind.

Re: Pokémon Pokopia Looks Like An Adorable Mix Of Minecraft And Animal Crossing

Zeugziumy

@OorWullie The graphics, sure, but they would have less anti-aliasing on the 3DS. The draw distance on 3DS, I don't think so, it wouldn't show up that much. Of course I'm taking what you are saying for granted and not as a joke as how the graphics look.

This could been easily a Switch 1 release with a Switch 2 patch to improve quality and framerates. Remember that Metroid Prime 4 is technically a Switch 1 game, with a Switch 2 edition as well.
