I think the ultimate no brainier for me is an HD remake of Ocarina of Time. If they just made that, that's all 2024 would need.

To be fair the post credits content more than doubles the base game so it's not as dinky a dinky kong as one may perceive on initial impressions

The Switch 2DS, releasing this year will be exactly the same but run in 4K, double the battery life and have an optional 3D effect.

Nintendo will then follow up with a true successor in 2027 called the Noober Groober duder.

2023 is the best year for the Switch for my money. So many top tier games

Honourable mention: Octopath Traveller II

Played the demo a few days ago and now Octopath Traveller 2 has become my Christmas game - compelling characters.

I didn't like the first game's demo but the sequel has grabbed me so they must have improved it.

@PinderSchloss Definitely a mature response that chimes with me. Internet comments are quick to jump into black and white, red or blue team and it's far too polarising. There are always shades of grey, unknown truths and this ultimately a tragedy that a once committed, hard working, entertaining YouTuber could fall so badly from grace.

And the all time greatest pinball game: Psycho pinball on the mega drive! Anyone remember it? Still play it with my dad from time to time, unreal level design and music.

I actually think his villainous outro is the greatest in gaming: climbing the final castle stairs, the huge clunking door opens to reveal Ganondorf himself is playing the villainous theme that's been accompanying you this whole time on the organ. He keeps playing, building the tension and suddenly pauses, and turns around unfurling his cape in frustration at you, hiding in plain sight the triforce piece he needs for total power.

Just brilliant, let's have that in the live action film please!

Would LOVE HD remakes of this and mario 64, and Banjo kazooie too. Three of the most incredible games ever made.

I still bought it just to have the handheld option, and been enjoying it - still love MGS1 to death, it's a shame they couldn't have upscaled the resolution or smoothed the graphics a bit but the quality of the game is so good it still shines. Hands down best PS1 game ever made for me, still baffled how they achieved it with 32bits.

I ordered a physical copy before knowing this but ah well.... i know i am chucking almost 50 quid at Konami literally just to play these handheld, like its criminal but I am fullybfully aware of my actions...... 8/10 for me so far - it's very polished and good clean fun. Feel they repeat wonder seed ideas too often across levels though and its geared towards kids with difficulty. Still, nice to see a change in art style and make 2D mario weird in a good way again!

Destroyed ganondorf at 85 hour mark. Have out in 120 hours total, over 100 shrines done, starting to lose interest a bit now - but this is double what i put into BOTW before feeling similar do I'd call that a major success!

I got the DLC ike a sucker but honestly, all of it belongs in the base game. 4/10.

55 hours..... Which shocked me, thought I was at 40, so now i need to give it a rest to avoid rsi !

First 4 temples down after .... Maybe 30 or 40 hours? Have been pretty main story focused, unlocked all the map and zelda memories. Think I might start just exploring and doing some chill stuff before it ramps up, but no idea how much content is still left in the story so I put "half way"

My copy arrived a day early today from ShopTo .

Loved the first 2-3 hours, a cosy opening with a beautiful combination of new ideas while homaging BOTW. Super cool.
