@Bizzyb Remember Nintendo more or less run a model like this. Tonnes of exclusive IPs.

It is also a good thing because you can access most of gaming now with a Switch and a Series S, which is super affordable and highly pro consumer.

As a Series S owner, this is awesome. Game Pass is genuinely phenomenal. Maybe Nintendo are friends with Microsoft because they deep down want to join forces to kick their old rivals Sony out of the business?

Of course Sony prob here to stay but the Ps5 is an expensive console with a dull as dishwater software offering, so they will have to plan some hotness for ps6 to survive.

It is super messed up paying additional money every month for a partially complete service, particularly compared to game pass which drops modern games (not retro games!) constantly.

In retrospect the gamecube, wii and wii U were all tethered to the same underpowered infrastructure. Nintendo really did get stuck in a box. Hope they pull their finger out with the next console... we'll see.

I think Microsoft or Xbox has learnt so much from its competitors over the last 20 years. The Microsoft of 2002 ruined Rare but I think the Micrisoft of 2021 understands gaming, smaller developers and gamers needs through its past failures. An example of lessons well learned.

@HexagonSun i would put Mario 64 as greatest game of all time but the original Banjo Kazooie is just a smidge behind it. It has such wonderful level design, humour, vibrancy, music and you can zip through it like butter and just feel pure joy.

I am afraid Yooka had some awful level designs, the Casino and that dark swampy one in particular. I think it possibly kept the bloated nature of Tooie and worsened it slightly. That's just my opinion ofc, I hold original Banjo in super high regard personally and love replaying it. It would be nigh on impossible for anyone to replicate its quality

Handheld guy so loving the OLED. Its really nice and premium feeling and love the slightly larger more widescreen feel to the screen. Happy with it. Haters gonna hate.

I know it's iterative but I really like it. The screen is noticeabley bigger, giving more of a widescreen effect. It feels premium and the screen is lovely and gives some real wow moments.

I think this is Nintendo capitalising on portable market and by keeping the switch the same power they avoid splitting the userbase.They will now exceed the lifetime sales of the Wii. Guaranteed.

I expect the next version to either be 4K or a full on Switch 2. But i couldn't resit the oled, especially with my 2017 launch console being worse for wear.

Miyamoto misses the point that we want more F-zero simply because we love the franchise. The characters, the concept, the exhilariting speed and death racing. It has such potential for high octane HD graphics... So come on Nintendo. BRING IT BACK. JUST MAKE IT PRETTY AND COOL. dammit.

Master Chief would be a great final climactic character for Smash. Though loaning Nintendo the Banjo IP for Banjo Threeie would be a dream come true.

I had the exact same anxieties as the writer of this article and only bought Rise cos I found it cheap. Now, 10 hours or so in it's become my favourite switch game and have not died yet... Clisest has ben fainting twice on one 3 star mission but still going strong. It is awesome.
