@kryz and somehow after two years you're the first comment to point that out! I was shocked to see it described as a roguelite as well, there's nothing about the game that could fit into that category. Losing your money when dying makes it closer to being a souls-like than anything
What's up with the Outer Wilds port, NintendoLife? It's got over 20% of the vote above, but there's not a peep from any news sites anywhere about quality of the Switch version
Game artists only make $48K a year in Japan while working for one of the world's largest videogame companies? That seems low. Google says that's around the average salary in Japan
I never played the first but this is kind of a weird review. I definitely felt the "one more go" feel as I would reach each checkpoint and refill my energy + buy new upgrades
Also the music in this game is great. Not sure why the reviewer wanted "thoughtful ambient" music for an action packed kitty-themed sci fi shmup, but the music is one of the strong points of the game.
Funnily, 7/10 is a perfect score for the game ha. I just found the specific complaints here didn't match my personal experience
I find it kind of silly that the release of what many call one of the best games ever made is a sign that Nintendo needs a new console. One of the best games of all time is on Switch. Let that sink in for a second.
And if we're being realistic, it is very unlikely that Nintendo's next console will be more powerful than a PS5. So, in that case even an upgraded Switch would still be old tech. How long will everyone demanding a new console be happy with something like that? Pretty soon even something as powerful as a base PS4 is going to be woefully inadequate in the eyes of those who live on the cutting edge
I also kind of feel like this shows how dangerously close we could have been to another video game movie disaster had Miyamoto not heavily involved himself in Hollywood's process
... But I also think it's going to be one of the biggest disappointments in the history of the Zelda series, especially after the insane heights that were achieved by the original and that this game is being expected to meet or exceed.
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed I'm on board with that theory. I don't believe Nintendo has poured the entirety of the Zelda team's development resources into making this sequel.
I had zero anticipation for a Metroid Prime "remaster" when the rumors first surfaced months ago. I just finished the game on Wii U in 2020 and didn't need a slightly up-res'd version of the same game.
But then I saw the amount of work that went into making this remaster feel fresh again. I bought it the day after it was announced.
Thanks to this article I've discovered a wealth of great side content in Xenoblade 3. Previously I had played only a handful of early game side quests that were frankly kind of boring and awful. I decided they just weren't worth the time. Now though I've gone back and have been immersed in cool and interesting side quests for several hours already, and I can see that I've only scratched the surface, too. Thanks for helping me get even more out of the game!
I didn't like this when it was first revealed since it looked uncomfortably similar to A Short Hike. This trailer shows a lot more of what makes this game unique, though. Could be fun
Low difficulty sounds like a big negative but honestly the difficulty / complexity is the one thing that kept me away from long play sessions of the original. After a while it became more tiring than relaxing.
This is really how the game should have been introduced to the world.
I still have serious doubts about the final product, but this trailer does a lot to combat the negative impression the first few reveals created for me
If there really is some cool new mode or content, wouldn't it have made sense to hype up said cool things a little earlier than a few weeks from launch? Seeing as how they saw fit to announce the game over a year and a half ago and all...
What was this reviewer smoking?? Supraland is great.
And for all those wondering if the Switch port is a mess... It's not. There's zero frame rate issues and no pop in. The worst thing I can tell technically is that textures seem a little bland in some areas, but I'm not sure if that's just Supraland thing or a Switch thing.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 3D Platformers
Captain Toad is simply not a platformer and it needs to be removed. Take it off and add Tinykin
Re: Review: Endless Ocean: Luminous (Switch) - A Meditative Marine Milieu, But Incredibly Shallow
Did anyone here actually play Abzu? It was super boring, you just slowly swam straight for hours.
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Perfect Sunday Morning Game?
I just got finished playing Pikmin 4 this Sunday morning myself

@grailUK @coalescence you two are thinking the clearest about this out of anyone here
Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?
If they want their next system to succeed like the Switch, they need to wait at least another year, maybe more
Re: 30 Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games To Look Forward To In 2024
How about Pepper Grinder? Or Penny's Big Breakaway?
2024 has a lot to look forward to already
Re: WTF: What Exactly Is This Switch eShop Garbage, Nintendo?
This article is probably the best thing that could have ever happened to obscure shovelware like this.
Re: Nintendo Download: 7th December (North America)
@TheImperfectInsider but of course review sites like NintendoLife are usually given access to games prior to release.
The fact that it's released already and no download codes were provided to reviewers isn't a great sign

Re: Talking Point: Should Link Have Voice Acting In The Next Zelda Game?
YES. It's 2023 and there is a Mario Movie with Chris Pratt voicing Mario now. And it worked! We're not in the same era anymore.
It's awkward that Link never says anything. He needs a voice

I think I now know how long time OG Star Wars fans felt when they first heard the word Midichlorian....

Re: Hands On: LEGO 2K Drive Is A Wild Ride, But Will It Prove Too Much For Switch?
The difference in the Switch version is "ALMOST negligible from a gameplay standpoint"
Wow. That doesn't build much confidence, but at least he's honest, I guess
Re: Review: Clive 'N' Wrench - A Banjo-Kazooie-Style Throwback That Hits All The Wrong Notes
I've played about an hour and... Yeah it's got some problems. And, no, it's definitely not the 3D platformer I had been hoping it would be.
But (at least at this point in the game) 3/10 is extremely harsh. I've enjoyed what I've played so far and look forward to playing more

Re: '90s-Inspired Platformer Clive 'N' Wrench Will Finally Land On Switch Early 2023
I was gonna poke fun at the numerous delays this game has seen, but they already took care of that with their trailer!
I've been looking forward to this one for a long time, hope it turned out like the creator envisioned

Re: Toree 3D Developer Brings Super Kiwi 64 To Switch eShop This December

Fun fact! An early version of the mushroom level seen in the Kiwi 64 trailer is playable as an unlockable secret in Macbat 64.

That thing looks like an owl to you? Funny how that works. I look at it and see some sort of wild dog-like creature with a muzzle and long ears.

Re: Vernal Edge Is A Fast-Paced Metroidvania With Family Drama, Coming To Switch
Looks a little different from your average metroidvania. Sometimes that's enough for me! I'll watch out for this one
Re: Physical Edition On The Way For Alien Oceanography Game, 'In Other Waters'
Coming from a guy that loves all types of games, this was painfully boring. Don't believe the hype!

Re: Review: Frogun - A Charming Platformer That Doesn't Croak Its N64 Inspirations
"It feels almost impossible to aim the gun" sounds like something that probably should have made the list of cons at the end haha
Jokes aside the look of this game reminds me of Bug on the Saturn
Re: Review: Supraland - A Playful Platformer With Squandered Potential
What was this reviewer smoking?? Supraland is great.

Supraland thing or a Switch thing.
Now if only we could get the DLC on Switch!
Re: Mini Review: Redout 2 - A Fast-Paced Blend Of F-Zero And Simulation Racing
@dugan this one has a new publisher though, so they might choose to give it better sales.
In fact, up until a few days ago the original was still priced ten dollars more than this sequel
Re: Mini Review: Redout 2 - A Fast-Paced Blend Of F-Zero And Simulation Racing
... But how does it compare to the first? Redout 1 was a notoriously awful port job for Switch, yet it scored 7/10 on this site
