I'm not sure I see where the story is in these reports. Employees who say their boss is difficult to work with and says inappropriate things in private outside of the office? Um welcome to life on Earth. Developers who changed contracts offered by Nicalis and then don't get a response back or parking lot "deals" not being honored? Welcome to doing business.
I'm all for the world of gaming journalism to take strides beyond "xxxx game releasing on xxxx date!" but this isn't the way to do it. How about Kotaku (or other sites) start putting effort into publishing stories about the hard working people at Nicalis who are NOT making racial jokes? Show us what it is like to work at a game publishing company. Put a spotlight on those "passionate" workers mentioned in the piece who play a part in bringing our favorite games to the world. Not this crap that is trying its hardest to imitate those tabloids you find next to the register at your local supermarket.
This sadly looks like a crappy budget game reaching beyond its means... but hopefully it's good! A sprawling 3D Zelda-like would be a welcome addition to the Switch library
I was into this until a saw some raw gameplay footage that hadn't edited and cut into a slick looking trailer. The raw footage looked really unpolished. I hope it reviews well, though! I'd love to have some more DKCR inspired platforming in my life
Edit: Oops. I just watched the raw gameplay embedded in this article and it looks great hahah. I'm looking forward to it again!
Dear Pokemon fans: If you're not happy with sword and shield's preview trailers (since that is the only thing the game can be judged on since nobody has played it), then when your teacher has the class write letters to Santa Claus for Xmas this year, make sure to be CLEAR that you want to take a stand against Gamefreak and would NOT like Pokemon as a gift. Also, I don't want to spoil anything for you prematurely, but you should make sure to tell your parents what you wrote in this letter as well. Just make sure to be strong when the game is released and your best friend brings his Switch to school to show you how awesome it is. Kindly let him know that you have principles and explain to him the meaning of the word lazy and how it applies to adults in Japan that you have never met, and then take your leave to the swing sets.
If I found out several enemies or main characters in BotW 2 were reusing animations from the original, I'm not sure I would care in the slightest. Why is this anyone's concern?
I like this. It reminds me of the Nintendo from my youth that would delay all their games a frustrating number of times, but in the end consistently release products that were head and shoulders above the competition. Hopefully this delay is truly because they want to make LM3 a stellar product
@chardir True. The billion dollar headline makes it seem like a bigger deal than it is. The stock went from $45.50 yesterday to $43.50 today. Not a huge drop. And it will probably go back up again soon
I can't see this being related to Animal Crossing.
Nintendo still has plenty of games coming out. It's not like delaying Animal Crossing will leave them without anything to sell. And Pokemon would beat AC in sales as a holiday exclusive 10 times out of 10. This seems to me more like a group of investors that were hoping for a large increase in revenue from a new console to sell
Looks good. For a game based on classic RPGs, it seems like they're trying to do a lot more with the concept than just pixel art & turn based battles and calling it a day. I'll be keeping an eye on how this one turns out
I got the Deluxe Edition on sale for about $30 bucks. I think the game is worth more, though, and will gladly support the hard work of the developers with a paltry additional $12 for some brand new quality content. Seems like the game underperformed in Ubi's eyes too, so I view buying paid DLC as a personal vote for them to allow this cool new IP to continue on into the future
@Dromosus I noticed that too. My thought was that perhaps we are finally seeing games that were designed specifically with the Switch's capabilities in mind start to come to completion
You know, so many companies are releasing these "Classics Collections" these days. It makes me wonder if Virtual Console was nixed by these other company's plans to get into the nostalgia business
@60frames-please it's got a great launch sale going on right now. 30% off until Thursday. Now might be one of the best times to pick it up if you're interested
Let's not forget that Nintendo resurrecting a canceled game series is still just a rumor as well. Everyone is acting like that's a certifiable fact now and the only thing left to confirm is which game is being revived
How about you guys get out there and do some actual journalism and try to verify or disprove these rumors. Or better yet, go find your own rumors to report on. I'm kind of sick of seeing the latest unsubstantiated tweet dominate the headlines of supposedly reputable gaming sites.
@GhostGarrity if that's the case then the review aspect of these features would be a little pointless. If only good games have been chosen, just lead with that and let us know from the get go. They don't need to tell us after each one that it also got a thumbs up
It's painfully obvious how this will all end. The final piece of art is a character that is NOT realistic, but instead slightly more cartoony than usually seen. It is KRATOS, followed by his Smash Bros character reveal trailer!!
Never once in watching the trailers did I feel like this game resembled either Mario Odyssey or Yooka Laylee, nor did it seem like a game that was trying to resemble them. Are those games really the best measuring stick to use for this game?

Re: Curse Of The Sea Rats Is An All-New Metroidvania Headed To Switch
@tzahn oh awesome, that looks pretty good too. Thanks for pointing it out!
Re: Curse Of The Sea Rats Is An All-New Metroidvania Headed To Switch
@tzahn haha Redwall! What a shame they never made any games based on that series
Re: Curse Of The Sea Rats Is An All-New Metroidvania Headed To Switch
That handdrawn animation is nice, but overall the game looks a little too early in development to be showing off footage to the world
Re: Famitsu Confirm Rumoured Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD For Switch
Oh lame, what? The"new" monkey ball game is a port of a 10+ year old Wii game? How disappointing.
