I had zero anticipation for a Metroid Prime "remaster" when the rumors first surfaced months ago. I just finished the game on Wii U in 2020 and didn't need a slightly up-res'd version of the same game.
But then I saw the amount of work that went into making this remaster feel fresh again. I bought it the day after it was announced.
Thanks to this article I've discovered a wealth of great side content in Xenoblade 3. Previously I had played only a handful of early game side quests that were frankly kind of boring and awful. I decided they just weren't worth the time. Now though I've gone back and have been immersed in cool and interesting side quests for several hours already, and I can see that I've only scratched the surface, too. Thanks for helping me get even more out of the game!
I didn't like this when it was first revealed since it looked uncomfortably similar to A Short Hike. This trailer shows a lot more of what makes this game unique, though. Could be fun
Low difficulty sounds like a big negative but honestly the difficulty / complexity is the one thing that kept me away from long play sessions of the original. After a while it became more tiring than relaxing.
This is really how the game should have been introduced to the world.
I still have serious doubts about the final product, but this trailer does a lot to combat the negative impression the first few reveals created for me
If there really is some cool new mode or content, wouldn't it have made sense to hype up said cool things a little earlier than a few weeks from launch? Seeing as how they saw fit to announce the game over a year and a half ago and all...
What was this reviewer smoking?? Supraland is great.
And for all those wondering if the Switch port is a mess... It's not. There's zero frame rate issues and no pop in. The worst thing I can tell technically is that textures seem a little bland in some areas, but I'm not sure if that's just Supraland thing or a Switch thing.
I wonder if this is at least partly why MP3 is the weakest of the bunch?
I don't remember the particular Dark Samus battle this guy is referring to, but his comment did bring to mind a late game encounter in the cloud world that was truly awful. Wave after wave of enemies come at you and it's difficult to manage with the way Prime's combat is designed. It was very un-fun and un-Metroid
That's kind of sickening. Devolver is one of the great players in this industry, I'd hate to see any harm come to them just because some investors weren't going to make enough money from holding onto their stock
Imran Khan also said that Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch was finished and due to be released asap back in 2018 or 2019, but that wasn't really true now was it.
Kind of sounds like some of the planned announcements are backing out of the showcase. The change in tone from previous info about the showcase and the "if everything holds" line makes it sound like the lineup for the showcase is in a bit of flux
I wonder if these guys didn't really quite expect the level of excitement from the fanbase when they first announced it, but have since doubled down their efforts to go that extra mile?
That's pure fan-fiction on my part, but it definitely seems now like this is a more than just an indie love-letter and has become a premium release that's getting the deluxe treatment from all involved. I have high hopes!
Is this a remake of one of those sub-par Gamecube 3D platformers, or is it a brand new IP? For some reason, this character and name seem vaguely familiar to me.
Maybe I'm just confusing this character's design and his name formatting with Ty the Tasmanian Tiger though

Re: Review: Clive 'N' Wrench - A Banjo-Kazooie-Style Throwback That Hits All The Wrong Notes
I've played about an hour and... Yeah it's got some problems. And, no, it's definitely not the 3D platformer I had been hoping it would be.
But (at least at this point in the game) 3/10 is extremely harsh. I've enjoyed what I've played so far and look forward to playing more

Re: Review: Sports Story - A Long-Awaited Sequel That's Sadly Not Up To Par
Nintendolife pulled their punches with this score. They've been way harsher on games with serious bugs and performance issues before

Re: '90s-Inspired Platformer Clive 'N' Wrench Will Finally Land On Switch Early 2023
I was gonna poke fun at the numerous delays this game has seen, but they already took care of that with their trailer!
I've been looking forward to this one for a long time, hope it turned out like the creator envisioned
Re: Review: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope - Creativity Trumps Challenge In This Delightful, Divergent Sequel

Re: It's Official, Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Won't Be Returning For The Third Outing
Metroid Prime had voice work?
Re: Toree 3D Developer Brings Super Kiwi 64 To Switch eShop This December
I played through all of Macbat 64 and felt something similar to enjoyment, so I would probably like this
Fun fact! An early version of the mushroom level seen in the Kiwi 64 trailer is playable as an unlockable secret in Macbat 64.
Re: Nintendo Goodies Up For Grabs In Playtonic's Charity Auction For SpecialEffect

What was the embarrassing oversight?
Re: Feature: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer Breakdown - Theories And Speculation
That thing looks like an owl to you? Funny how that works. I look at it and see some sort of wild dog-like creature with a muzzle and long ears.
Re: Mini Review: Little Orpheus - A Whimsical Tale That Left Us Wanting
This looks and sounds a lot like Planet Alpha to me.

I still have serious doubts about the final product, but this trailer does a lot to combat the negative impression the first few reveals created for me
Re: BPM: Bullets Per Minute Sets Its Sights On Switch This September, Pre-Order Now
Did the graphics in this game always look like this? I didn't realize it was all so lo-fi
Re: Review: Islets - A Wholesome, Hand-Painted Metroidvania That's Stunning To Look At
Wow didn't expect to see a review of this one on Nintendolife! Thanks for filling in some of the gaps about what we can expect from the game 👍🏻
Re: Vernal Edge Is A Fast-Paced Metroidvania With Family Drama, Coming To Switch
Looks a little different from your average metroidvania. Sometimes that's enough for me! I'll watch out for this one
Re: Physical Edition On The Way For Alien Oceanography Game, 'In Other Waters'
Coming from a guy that loves all types of games, this was painfully boring. Don't believe the hype!
Re: Owlboy Devs Move From Birds To Vikings In Its Bouncy Co-Op Follow-Up
I watched that trailer and still have next to no clue how this game will be played.
Owlboy was awesome though (go play it if you haven't already!)

Re: Review: Frogun - A Charming Platformer That Doesn't Croak Its N64 Inspirations
"It feels almost impossible to aim the gun" sounds like something that probably should have made the list of cons at the end haha
Jokes aside the look of this game reminds me of Bug on the Saturn
Re: Review: Supraland - A Playful Platformer With Squandered Potential

Now if only we could get the DLC on Switch!
Re: Mini Review: Redout 2 - A Fast-Paced Blend Of F-Zero And Simulation Racing
@dugan this one has a new publisher though, so they might choose to give it better sales.
In fact, up until a few days ago the original was still priced ten dollars more than this sequel
Re: Mini Review: Redout 2 - A Fast-Paced Blend Of F-Zero And Simulation Racing
... But how does it compare to the first? Redout 1 was a notoriously awful port job for Switch, yet it scored 7/10 on this site
Re: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak amiibo Now Arriving Next Month In Australia & New Zealand, Pre-Orders Live
Amiibos are still a thing?
Re: Japanese Charts: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Maintains A Comfortable Lead
Why do we care about Japanese sales charts again? Why don't we regularly get updates on the Korean sales charts, for example?
Re: Developers Don't Take Kindly To EA's Single-Player Gag On Twitter
I suppose it's kind of funny if they were originally trying to poke fun at themselves for having said something so ridiculous in the past

This guy is getting cocky now that his June Direct rumor panned out 😅
Re: Random: Retro Studios Clashed With Metroid Producer On Halo Influences
@HammerGalladeBro yep, Prime 3 was totally awesome. ...just the weakest among its stellar peers, imo.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Summer Game Fest 2022 Opening Showcase?
Turtles release date was a megaton announcement in my book. I really wasn't expecting anything of that magnitude from the showcase

Re: The First Hands-On With Sonic Frontiers Has Dropped

This is pre-review game journalist code for saying the game is rough

Re: Talking Point: In An Age Of Endless Delays, Nintendo's First-Party Flow Is Extraordinary
Considering that Horizon Forbidden West is like a billion Wario Wares in terms of complexity, I don't think this is all that extraordinary.
Meanwhile, actual ambitious games like Bayo 3, BotW 2, and Prime 4 are still MIA years after being announced...
Re: Kao The Kangaroo Trailer Showcases Friends And Family
@Slowdive thanks! ✌🏻 I'll keep my eye on this one. A new platformer is always a welcome thing in my book

Maybe I'm just confusing this character's design and his name formatting with Ty the Tasmanian Tiger though
