This is really how the game should have been introduced to the world.
I still have serious doubts about the final product, but this trailer does a lot to combat the negative impression the first few reveals created for me
If there really is some cool new mode or content, wouldn't it have made sense to hype up said cool things a little earlier than a few weeks from launch? Seeing as how they saw fit to announce the game over a year and a half ago and all...
What was this reviewer smoking?? Supraland is great.
And for all those wondering if the Switch port is a mess... It's not. There's zero frame rate issues and no pop in. The worst thing I can tell technically is that textures seem a little bland in some areas, but I'm not sure if that's just Supraland thing or a Switch thing.
I wonder if this is at least partly why MP3 is the weakest of the bunch?
I don't remember the particular Dark Samus battle this guy is referring to, but his comment did bring to mind a late game encounter in the cloud world that was truly awful. Wave after wave of enemies come at you and it's difficult to manage with the way Prime's combat is designed. It was very un-fun and un-Metroid
That's kind of sickening. Devolver is one of the great players in this industry, I'd hate to see any harm come to them just because some investors weren't going to make enough money from holding onto their stock
Imran Khan also said that Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch was finished and due to be released asap back in 2018 or 2019, but that wasn't really true now was it.
Kind of sounds like some of the planned announcements are backing out of the showcase. The change in tone from previous info about the showcase and the "if everything holds" line makes it sound like the lineup for the showcase is in a bit of flux
I wonder if these guys didn't really quite expect the level of excitement from the fanbase when they first announced it, but have since doubled down their efforts to go that extra mile?
That's pure fan-fiction on my part, but it definitely seems now like this is a more than just an indie love-letter and has become a premium release that's getting the deluxe treatment from all involved. I have high hopes!
Is this a remake of one of those sub-par Gamecube 3D platformers, or is it a brand new IP? For some reason, this character and name seem vaguely familiar to me.
Maybe I'm just confusing this character's design and his name formatting with Ty the Tasmanian Tiger though
Love these insights into the behind-the-scenes workings of Nintendo.
This line is HUGE:
"I am trying to push Nintendo in a new way. Yet Mr. Miyamoto and others have been part of the company for a very long time."
Miyamoto is a genius and an eternal legend. But I've long suspected he may in part be responsible for a growing schism between "progress" and the Nintendo of old. This is the biggest official confirmation I've seen of that idea
There's a GameXplain video out there that directly compares the graphics in the Switch version to the PS5 version. Check it out if you're interested in the Switch version. You might leave with a more positive impression of the performance than you would after reading this review
Whoo! I enjoyed this game. It's very difficult (in both good ways and bad), and has that indie jank here and there, but it's also got a lot to offer, and a lot to enjoy. I'll be enjoying this free update eventually
This is a skip for me. Loved Splatoon 1. Splatoon 2 was neat, but seemed like a version 1.5 to me. And this? It's doing absolutely nothing to make me want to dive back in.
I've still got the Octo Expansion to work on, anyway which remains some of the most interesting Splatoon content I've seen since the original

Re: Feature: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer Breakdown - Theories And Speculation
That thing looks like an owl to you? Funny how that works. I look at it and see some sort of wild dog-like creature with a muzzle and long ears.
Re: Mini Review: Little Orpheus - A Whimsical Tale That Left Us Wanting
This looks and sounds a lot like Planet Alpha to me.
Re: Feature: "Unfinished Business" - Why Gilbert & Grossman Returned To Monkey Island
Great article, I love point and clicks and always will! Hope this will be another great adventure to remember
Re: Sega Releases New Sonic Frontiers Overview Trailer, Take A Look
This is really how the game should have been introduced to the world.
I still have serious doubts about the final product, but this trailer does a lot to combat the negative impression the first few reveals created for me
Re: BPM: Bullets Per Minute Sets Its Sights On Switch This September, Pre-Order Now
Did the graphics in this game always look like this? I didn't realize it was all so lo-fi
Re: Review: Islets - A Wholesome, Hand-Painted Metroidvania That's Stunning To Look At
Wow didn't expect to see a review of this one on Nintendolife! Thanks for filling in some of the gaps about what we can expect from the game 👍🏻
Re: Vernal Edge Is A Fast-Paced Metroidvania With Family Drama, Coming To Switch
Looks a little different from your average metroidvania. Sometimes that's enough for me! I'll watch out for this one
Re: Physical Edition On The Way For Alien Oceanography Game, 'In Other Waters'
Coming from a guy that loves all types of games, this was painfully boring. Don't believe the hype!
Re: Owlboy Devs Move From Birds To Vikings In Its Bouncy Co-Op Follow-Up
I watched that trailer and still have next to no clue how this game will be played.
Owlboy was awesome though (go play it if you haven't already!)
Re: Sonic Frontiers World Premiere Coming To Gamescom Opening Night Live
Sega's just gonna act like that first world premiere never actually happened then, huh
Re: Review: Two Point Campus - A Beautifully Balanced Sim That's More 'Friend' Than 'Fiscal'
Dang... Distinction out of 10? Impressive
Re: Mini Review: Hindsight - Another Beautifully Moving Hit For Annapurna
Sign me up! I love these interactive story games that Annapurna specializes in.
@Tandy255 yeah you do! That's a great game and it looks and runs real nice on Switch

Re: Review: Frogun - A Charming Platformer That Doesn't Croak Its N64 Inspirations
"It feels almost impossible to aim the gun" sounds like something that probably should have made the list of cons at the end haha
Jokes aside the look of this game reminds me of Bug on the Saturn
Re: Review: Supraland - A Playful Platformer With Squandered Potential
What was this reviewer smoking?? Supraland is great.

Now if only we could get the DLC on Switch!
Re: Mini Review: Redout 2 - A Fast-Paced Blend Of F-Zero And Simulation Racing
@dugan this one has a new publisher though, so they might choose to give it better sales.
In fact, up until a few days ago the original was still priced ten dollars more than this sequel
Re: Mini Review: Redout 2 - A Fast-Paced Blend Of F-Zero And Simulation Racing
... But how does it compare to the first? Redout 1 was a notoriously awful port job for Switch, yet it scored 7/10 on this site
Re: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak amiibo Now Arriving Next Month In Australia & New Zealand, Pre-Orders Live
Amiibos are still a thing?
Re: Japanese Charts: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Maintains A Comfortable Lead
Why do we care about Japanese sales charts again? Why don't we regularly get updates on the Korean sales charts, for example?
Re: Developers Don't Take Kindly To EA's Single-Player Gag On Twitter
I suppose it's kind of funny if they were originally trying to poke fun at themselves for having said something so ridiculous in the past
Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime Remaster Apparently Lined Up For November, Prime 2 And 3 To Follow
This guy is getting cocky now that his June Direct rumor panned out 😅
Re: Random: Retro Studios Clashed With Metroid Producer On Halo Influences
@HammerGalladeBro yep, Prime 3 was totally awesome. ...just the weakest among its stellar peers, imo.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Summer Game Fest 2022 Opening Showcase?
Turtles release date was a megaton announcement in my book. I really wasn't expecting anything of that magnitude from the showcase
Re: Apparently There's A 1-2-Switch Sequel In The Works At Nintendo, And Everyone Hates It
Imran Khan also said that Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch was finished and due to be released asap back in 2018 or 2019, but that wasn't really true now was it.
Re: The First Hands-On With Sonic Frontiers Has Dropped
"The impressions seem to be pretty positive overall, with a few niggles..."
This is pre-review game journalist code for saying the game is rough

Re: New Sonic Frontiers Gameplay Lets The Blue Blur Show Off His Combat Skills
I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing more in a Sonic game than spending two minutes fighting every grunt level enemy I encounter
Re: Devolver Digital Teases Its Upcoming Game Showcase, Featuring Suda51
Awesome. Devolver Digital is one of the best names in the entire industry right now

Wow that looks really good

An emphasis on combat could be a fun twist for a Crash-like! I'm intrigued
Re: These Two New Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Locations Raise Plenty Of Questions
This one is looking awesome so far
Re: Talking Point: In An Age Of Endless Delays, Nintendo's First-Party Flow Is Extraordinary
Considering that Horizon Forbidden West is like a billion Wario Wares in terms of complexity, I don't think this is all that extraordinary.
Meanwhile, actual ambitious games like Bayo 3, BotW 2, and Prime 4 are still MIA years after being announced...
Re: Kao The Kangaroo Trailer Showcases Friends And Family
@Slowdive thanks! ✌🏻 I'll keep my eye on this one. A new platformer is always a welcome thing in my book

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Switch Sports Dominates As Kirby Holds Strong
In just two weeks, Switch Sports has outsold the lifetime sales of Metroid Dread in Japan. That's.... not right :/
Re: OPUS: Echo Of Starsong - Full Bloom Edition Takes Off On Switch Today
The footage for this in the indie world trailer had an awful frame rate, wait for reviews like said above
Re: It's Official, Metroid Dread Is The Best-Selling Game In The Metroid Series
What's wrong with Japan!? Why only 270000 sold there?

Re: Nintendo Life's Indie Spotlight Is Back! Join Us Tomorrow For The Presentation
I love the effort, even if the games featured in these are never exactly my type of thing. I'll still check it out though
Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Three More Titles
Better.
Still not great
