Several people have already mentioned Outer Wilds, which is my #1 prediction (and hope). The only other thing that might seem obvious given the info we've been provided is a shadow drop / release date for Clive N Wrench.
I like features like this. It's not current news or controversial or anything, but it's still good reading, especially for a long-time Nintendo fan like myself (and I imagine many other visitors to the site).
On topic, Four Swords will forever be one of the most fun video game experiences I ever had. For one glorious afternoon four of my friends just happened to all be together and have our gbas too. For most of the day we discovered an absolute gem of a game as we laughed, cursed at each other, and stumbled over the games puzzles. Sadly we never got together again to finish the game, but I'll always remember the great time I had with it for that one day!
Is there a story in this game? Is there any actual epic-ness in Epic Chef? Or is it just an endless life / farming routine game? Are the quests and the main adventure good? Reviewer: help, please!
Awesome. Not sure how I feel about Tencent being the company that is investing in them, but Playtonic and their publishing arm is one of the brightest new stars in the gaming space over the last several years. I'd love to see them continue to succeed and expand their operations.
Animal Crossing is a tiny interactive world, GTA is a gigantic one. Yet Animal Crossing is the one that allows for an endless level of player expression. GTA does not. That's the specific comparison being made. Why is that so hard for every commenter here to understand?
Why does this Nintendo website keep recommending I buy games on other consoles, especially when they apparently haven't even confirmed for themselves whether the same problems exist on other versions?
I dunno. I never felt like I was being treated to special effects whenever I saw fog in an N64 game. Complaining about it being gone now definitely seems like a rose tinted re-telling of history.
Nintendo didn't promise "Remastered" versions of N64 games. (I got that with Ocarina on 3DS years ago). And new and improved versions won't be what I'm expecting when I log on to play them either. Having access to games I've either haven't played before or haven't played for decades will be enough of a joy for me.
You are fully welcome to complain about minor details if that makes you happy, of course
These articles that have a hot take headline and then rely on second-hand twitter experiences for evidence kind of suck. Also some of your personal experience that you report on in the article invalidates what you read on Twitter. That's some sucky journalism right there
Nah I don't believe an almost straight port of a gba turn based strategy game needs to be delayed for more development time. This is a scheduling delay. Either Nintendo wants more room for their 2021 games to breathe or this is now taking the spot of another 2022 game that just secretly got pushed back
Dread took me over a week of playing fairly regularly. Final playtime was almost ten hours of near-constant enjoyment. That's a perfectly acceptable game length in my book.
Short games these days are those that I can beat in a single setting
"Hey guys, I'm in the industry so I totally know how this all works.
You see, Square makes more money if these are cheaper to produce. So, can you really blame them? (Don't forget I'm an expert!)
Expect more companies to choose to spend less money like this and know that this decision has been completely forced upon them solely because Nintendo hardware is too weak."
When does the review embargo lift for Metroid Dread? We're two weeks away from launch so it has to be sometime soon.
Part of me was hoping we'd see reviews start dropping this week. If Nintendo allowed early reviews to post, it'd likely mean they're very confident in the quality of the game
The "two giant monsters fighting" bit made me think of the Project GG that was teased a year or so ago. I wonder if Bayo 3 absorbed some of that project's ideas too?
Ew. My initial delight soon turned to disgust when I realized they had copied almost everything about A Short Hike - graphics, theme, climbing mechanics, flying mechanics, setting...
...still looks kind of fun tho. And I could be totally wrong. Maybe the full game is hiding a personality all its own
@edgedino games don't get scrapped when they are close to completion. Whatever that other Metroid Prime 4 was, it was also likely in a very early stage of development at the time that reveal announcement happened
@rosemo this game is more like the all star sports team that's forecasted at the beginning of the season to take the championship, but then suffers a series of debilitating injuries and craps out at the first round of the playoffs 😅
While I can't necessarily disagree with too many points in the review, I think a 4 is way way too low. Taking bugs, and lack of polish into account, this is still a much better game than most of what is available on the eShop. Take away the polish and bugs and we're looking at an all time great indie here.
Regarding the difficulty, I think it needs to be said that - while the reviewer is correct in many ways - the game is not unbeatable as it stands. For instance, those moderately high cliffs that will kill you? Well, that same height of cliff always kills you. Fool me once... Right? Those combat encounters that seem impossible at first? Well, there's ways to beat them too (bum rush lizards with attacks to knock them on their back, dodging tentacle attacks according to sound effect, not according to animation), it's just that you need to figure those methods out on your own. It's a positive and it's a negative, it just depends on your point of view.
Same for the puzzles, I for one really appreciated playing a dungeon where I was not instantly aware of what the developer wanted me to do. It's not impossible to figure out, though, you just need to spend the time to learn this game's particular "puzzle language.". That's an aspect of gaming that's harder and harder to come by in this ninth (right? Tenth?) generation of gaming. It was prevalent in the early NES days and, personally, I kind of miss it. I want to fight for my victories, not have them hand delivered to me.
This article is a nice change of pace to the occasional cut and paste eShop listing that you will sometimes see on video game / Switch websites. It expanded my knowledge of the game, what to expect from it, and provided a little history as well.
Maybe all that was on the eShop already tho, I'm not sure haha. If not, I appreciated the extra effort!
There's a weird trend going on with these comments.
People that have not played the game comment how they saw online that it's a mess. Other people respond and say what a shame that sounds horrible.
Meanwhile people that have actually played the game say they like it and are having a good time with it. Nobody seems to notice those comments though or reply and thank the user for letting them know their actual experience with playing the game.
I've been playing on Switch for about two hours and I haven't experienced a single "bug" so far. The game is gorgeous and the scope seems like it will be very grand. I'm having a great time with it. The first dungeon was a great challenge and none of it was really due to design issues. It's just a good dungeon!
There are issues though. The game is crazy hard and there is a bit of jank with combat and your dodge controls. If you are easily frustrated you will want to steer far FAR clear of this!
But if you are a long time gamer who sometimes feels like Zelda is a bit too much of a pushover, I think you'll find lots to love here. The positives far outweigh the negative for me so far
Also Sega doesn't take down fan projects because they have no idea how to make a good Sonic game on their own. They're probably hoping to find some good ideas
Don't want your game taken down? Don't steal someone else's IP. It's not hard.
The gameplay isn't copyrighted, just the names and characters. If this game was any good at all, it would have been just as good without Metroid's name on it and the gameplay wouldn't have been adversely impacted in any way without them
@Realness I know, super annoying, right? I wake up and aimlessly scrolled through the new headlines on Nintendolife, only to have a big spoiler for my most anticipated game of the year smack me right in the face. Nice way to start the day. (ps. awesome profile pic!)
@danondorf handled the same feeling with a bit more tact than me, bravo.
What is it that makes Poke fans so obsessed about lifelike graphics? I never see Kirby fans, for example, in comment sections saying "This is what the next Kirby game should be!!!"

@BreathingMiit but is the score consistent and generous with the game itself? That's something only someone that has played the game can say.
I have played the game and it's selling the game extremely short. It's not perfect by any means. But it's also not a broken unplayable mess
