Re: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Sells Over One Million Copies in Launch Week

@WaLzgi

Meaning it would stop getting western support. I know there's barely any western support aside from indies nowadays, but the amount of quality localized games is overwhelming.

2014 has been a way better year for the Vita than the 3DS if we're talking software only. I'd go as far and say that it has a better library of games in general as well.

I'm not trying to start a war here (I'm a big 3DS fan as well), I just feel like it isn't getting the attention it deserves. The hardware is amazing and it has a huge library of quality games. Unfortunately Sony is pretty much 100% to blame for its "failure" due to the lack of advertising.

@madyik18 No, I'm not. They are all opening week sales.

@ben- No, it did have a lower install base. Remember that the PS3 pretty much bombed in its first 3 years.

I do agree that Zelda isn't nearly as big as Gundam or One Piece in Japan, but I wouldn't call it an apple vs. orange comparison. The genre is huge in Japan and every Wii U owner knows who Zelda is. Fact is that the Hyrule Warriors sales are low for its current install base, there is no way to spin around it.

I'm sorry, but those Hyrule Warriors numbers are pretty bad, especially when Koei stated that they expect it to be a million seller. Let's compare it to other launch week Musou PS3 games in Japan.

Zelda Musou (WiiU) 78,773 (Mediacreate)

Gundam Musou (PS3) 170,725
Gundam Musou 2 (PS3) 176,448
Gundam Musou 3 (PS3) 185,908
Shin Gundam Musou (PS3) 126,019

Hokuto Musou (PS3) 385,295
Shin Hokuto Musou (PS3) 116,431

One Piece Kaizoku Musou (PS3) 655,774
One Piece Kaizoku Musou 2 (PS3) 269,035

Some of them had a lower install base than the Wii U during that time and they still curbstomp Hyrule Warriors's performance.

Re: PS Vita Owners Can Now Give Their Handheld That Vital Nintendo Feel

Vita is a fantastic system if you like RPGs and Japanese games. I own 108 games for it so far. It's not for everyone though, I'll admit that.

I'd say that the Vita is superior to the 3DS on all fronts, though. If Sony would support it just as much as Nintendo's doing for their handhelds, it would curbstomp the 3DS in sales.

Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy Case Begins on 3DS eShop in Winter 2014

I'm baffled by how many people are excited for this for multiple reasons:

1. There are barely any noticeable improvements aside from the 3D, which most likely is going to be mediocre at best (looks at Dual Destinies)
2. You can play the exact same games for a better price if you just buy the NDS games and put them in your 3DS
3. No physial release, you're just basically downloading NDS roms (which were ported from the GBA games to begin with) to your 3DS.

It's almost despicable how Capcom is milking these 3 games. First NDS, then WIiWare, then iOS and now 3DS and they still look the same as 10 years ago.

Re: NPD Results Bring Solid 3DS Numbers as Wii U Struggles

There's an excuse for the abysmal Vita sales btw. Sony stopped producing the original model for over a month now so they are a lot more difficult to find. This is all because of the Vita slim model, which will come out in May bundled with Borderlands 2.

Even with this in mind, it still sold below expectations. I hope it picks up soon though, because it's a criminally underrated system and the lineup for 2014 looks amazing. They just confirmed a western release for Tales of Hearts R so I'm sure that will move some units.

And oh, right Nintendo..well they kind of dug their own grave didn't they? There are less than 5 quality games on the horizon, Wii U and 3DS combined.
