Had many opportunities to pluck Hotel Dusk from the clearance bin back in the day, and passed on it every time. Learning its sequel never made it to the States kinda validated skipping out on it. I would be happy to buy a collection of the two games for my OG Switch, and this does seem like the kind of game that Nintendo would develop for the Switch 1 at this point. However it is still very unlikely.
@MrDocena Those are all good ideas. I ended up sending my mother two dupe recipes a day until I reached the 100 letters NM stamp. I have used Nookazon back during the pandemic and may return to it to complete them. I did start with 135 missing recipes, so the game has given me 90 new recipes over the last 5.5 months. But it’s only going to get tougher the fewer remain.
@SillyG Graph paper was my friend. Once I decided the general layout of my island town, I worked out the positioning on graph paper so I could place villager homes with precise confidence.
Having jumped back into my island at the start of this year, I am close to 100% completion. At the forefront of my mind is DIY duplicates. I have ~40 recipes missing, mostly flower wreaths and crowns. It gets tiresome pulling the same DIYs everyday. I understand the design goal was to encourage sharing recipes between players, but that sucks for solo players like myself. I don’t think it would’ve hurt the sharing aspect if Nintendo had made it so players do not get repeats. There are so many DIYs. Let us solos grind!
The other tiresome bit is all the repetitive exposition from NPCs. Villagers, I don’t mind. But this is the umpteenth time CJ/Flick/Saharah/etc have visited my island. I know the spiel already, just take my fish/bugs/bells/etc already!
That said I voted for crafting in bulk. Tools I don’t mind, I have spares in storage when they break. But I got into the habit of clearing out my cache of materials by mass crafting the hot item of the day when a good item was on the list. I’ve spent a solid hour crafting nonstop doing this. Fortunately I just switch to handheld and watch something on TV as I mindlessly mash the A button when I do this. But that isn’t good gameplay.
And always MORE INVENTORY SLOTS! I am close to maxing out the max 5k storage, but it’s my actual inventory that needs expansion. I hate that my tools take up 1/5th of the space. Let me have a tool belt (that’s already in the game) to keep my tools separate.
Is “touch wood” the common expression in the UK as opposed to “knock on wood” that is said in the States? “Touch wood” has a bit of a naughtier meaning for us Yanks, lol.
Strange how poorly Hundred Line did in Japan when the physical version is sold out everywhere outside of Japan. I looked into getting an import copy, but it doesn’t include English according to the PlayAsia details. Hopefully they reprint it or I’ll wait for a decent discount on the eShop a year from now.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons- Finished my 48th HHP vacay home this week, which would’ve filled up the entire grid had I not reused 5 plots.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble- Bested my No Miss challenge record by 3 stages. Would have liked to push that run farther, but I hadn’t played those stages in a good 2 months now.
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair- Reached the 2nd class trial. Really disappointed that the sequel is regurgitating another plot line from the original.
Wingspan: Special Edition- Played the tutorial. Seems like a decent game, but I mostly bought it to recognize more birds in the wild.
@garfreek I looked into it earlier, and apparently Deltarune is getting 7 chapters now. Chapters 5-7 will be free DLC. I thought it was only 5, but I guess things changed.
@Toastmaster Nintendo released over 20 games for the 3DS after the Switch debuted in March 2017 with the last one, Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, releasing in March 2019.
This has been NLife’s semi-periodic reminder that I really need to unlock more endings on my DS copy of CT. And while I am doing that, I should prep my DS copies of the DQ games to be played once I play the remakes of III, I&II.
My plan was to wait for all the chapters to be released before buying a (hopefully physical) copy of Deltarune. Looking like I have a long wait still ahead of me.
@FishyS Splatoon fans like to spam the in game posting board on March 13th that it is MAR13 day for the OG squid idol. And the following day is 3.14, otherwise known as π Day.
I finally said goodbye to 2021 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I am down to 5 Nook Miles stamps, but those will take some time to earn. Under 50 DIY recipes to go. And reached Legendary Designer status in the DLC.
Still plugging away at Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble. I will likely break the Top 100 on the time-wasted leaderboard, otherwise known as the Mysterious Banana Tree, this weekend.
And I am slowly working my way through Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Finished the first class trial earlier this week. Not a fan of the change to Bullet Time Battle. Ended up just spamming the A button to clear it…. I doubt that will work in later trials. Would’ve loved to have played this series when it first released. Playing 1&2 for the first time back-to-back is leaving a lesser impression on 2 for me, since so far it has the same plot of 1 only with new characters.
@Diven Ah I didn’t realize the other 99 games were missing along with the NSO apps. Strangely Pacman 99 is present (wasn’t it discontinued?).
The Splatoon 3 SWP is still unique on my screen with the reduced icon size and the Preordered tag. But I was wrong about not being able to load it, the option appeared when I clicked on it.
Everything is unloaded on my system since I don’t care to go to the trouble to load it all right now. But now that you’ve pointed it out, my list is missing the demos for OT2 and TS. They are still listed under All Software with my OG Switch though, so that’s weird.
Nintendo finally forced the issue with this update. I steadfastly kept Super Mario 35 alive on my Switch despite Nintendo kindly nudging us to delete it… well I just checked out my Virtual Game Card tab on the home menu, and Mario 35 is nowhere to be found. The tab hilariously has my Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere listed as “Preordered”. So I can see it, but not load it. Mario 35 can’t even get that treatment!
Orange, but I don’t mind the red. Where it hurts is with the icons on the home page. The eShop bag needs to be orange. The news icon looks terrible in green and clashes with the blue photo and teal share icons. Really the whole icon bar is trash now- 4 white, 2 red, 3 blue/green.
Not surprising but the Switch 1 could use a dock with a fan built in. I play docked mostly and my OG Switch had its lithium battery expand inside the case. I unfortunately cannot swap in a new battery because the expansion has pressed up against one of the side screws (inside the joycon groove) and it will not unscrew. It still works for now, but I try to limit my use of it.
@AllBLK Nintendo is not so much paving the way, more like they are the final stronghold that is at its breaking point. Digital purchases outnumber physical purchases on every other system, the Switch barely held the line with a 50/50 split between the two. Nintendo is just accepting the way the market is going with the Switch 2.
I certainly don’t like it. But physical media is becoming niche. The music industry lost my business when it decided to stop selling CDs and pushed streaming subs. It looks like the gaming industry wants to lose my business now as well.
But what the heck is LRG thinking? They should be the one company to never issue a Game Key Cart release. That’s the whole point of their existence.
I used it the other day bc ACNH didn’t give me a bulletin item for Toy Day, but the calendar feature of Today isn’t updated with in-game events into the future (or past).
The posts here have been illuminating as I wasn’t expecting the app was so personalized. I picked Metroid to get more news about MP4, but it’s been rather light on Metroid series.
I did it!!! Completed every stage mission in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble earlier this week. I will still continue to play it as I have 3+ months of season rewards to collect. But seeing 100% across the top of the Missions tab is so nice!
Over in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I collected the last cooking recipe I was missing. Still have another 50+ DIY recipes to find. I am down to my final 7 Nook Miles stamps and two of those will be mine this weekend! The other 5 will take some time, though.
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair has been left on the shelf as I focused on 100% SMB. I doubt I will finish it before April ends now.
I need to get my 2nd procon repaired of its drift so I can return to the sweet setup of having a fully charged procon at the ready when the battery of the one I am using dies. But even with just a single good procon, the charger is close by so I just play wired if needed.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble - I have reached 99%! on stage missions. I figured I would stall around 75% when I began playing and I am now only 6 extra tough missions away from completion.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Over 1500 hours in. The ground is once again covered in snow as 2021 comes to a close. Down to my final ten Nook Miles stamps. And still trying to decide how to fill up my HHP grid.
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - It’s been a full month since I played the 1st Ronpa and I am not sure if that was enough time. Doesn’t feel like much has changed between the two games, but I also haven’t reached the first trial yet.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Still working my way through 50cc.
Also earned some Gold Coins this week after picking up physical copies of Emio, the Smiling Man and Citizen Sleeper. The reward program lives on!
@Dev-N That sounds like terrible advice to be honest. If you are worried about a recession (a reasonable fear), buying an expensive gaming console now just because you can is only setting yourself up for hardship later if those fears of a recession are realized.

You do what’s best for you. I personally have a backlog that will last me to the end of my days. What I don’t have is savings that will last that long.
@Ramouz Well there you go. Switch is the only console I own of the past generation and I play it via my pro controllers almost exclusively. I wish I knew how many hours that encompassed, but Nintendo incorporated a terrible play activity log into the Switch. Best guess is a little over of 10k hours, so if use your pro controllers long enough, drift will happen.
@jfp Not true of pro controllers. I had to pay to repair one of mine. Only drifting joycons were free of charge, and that only happened thanks to a class action lawsuit.
@jco83 Okay. How exactly does a pro controller attach to the Switch 2?
Besides price issues, this was my other main reason to hold off getting a NS2. Drift has ruined both of my pro controllers. So now I’ll wait to see if the scourge returns. Also, I’ll wait for an inevitable special edition pro controller because my god, that light gray/white underneath the sticks and on the shoulder buttons is U G L Y. It needs to be all black or have some color like the joycons.
Props to Nintendo for not giving in to the Drop The Price backlash, but also doubling down by raising the price of accessories. Of course my decision to wait on buying a NS2 made it a lot easier for me to take in this news. Happy gaming to the early adopters, give my condolences to your dearly departed wallets!
Last month I found the old Zelda cartoons that were apart of the Super Mario Super Show and one its few saving graces was that it used the original music and sound effects from the game. So much cringe with the dialogue and story plots. Although the cartoon had Link do a bomb-assisted shield jump decades before he pulled it off in BotW!
I will definitely be extending a few of these tracks in the near future!
@Maxz It may be a thing of the past as companies nowadays are more beholden to shareholders and look to cut costs above all else, but retailers used to offer exemplary service to encourage repeat regular business from their customers.
Plus stores are incentivized to not sell their inventory of NS2s to scalpers because regular customers are more likely to also buy games/accessories/other misc merch while buying their new Nintendo system. Scalpers are just looking to flip and the store loses out on all those extra sales.
Not sure if I missed the preorder or the page is just a placeholder but Target has the four new Zelda champion miibs on their website with ‘Coming Soon’ up.
$30 a pop are for the larger miibs like the big Yoshi plush… that said the new SF ones didn’t look large enough to warrant the $30 price tag. Shrinkflation got a new meaning there.
I’m a little torn between wanting to keep my Zelda miib collection complete and wanting to be done with miibs altogether. Part of me hopes there will be plenty of the Champions available for preorder, the other part hopes scalpers snatch them all up before I can get an order in.
