@Warioware Completely different franchise that uses the same source material. You could’ve replaced MUA3 with Marvel vs. Capcom and it would’ve been the same sentiment.
Nothing is worse than how New Yorkers say MARE-ee-oh for Super Mario. Fingernails on chalkboard, that one. And really surprising given the large Italian population in the region.
I do not care for the mandatory 14 day limit, just give the owner of the game the option to force a return of the digital title back onto their system.
But this was a nothingburger, personally. I have a primary and secondary Switch, but only play one at a time. A more useful feature would have been to bring back the Activity Log from the 3DS.
Damn! Nintendo must have been extremely pissed over all of the Switch 2 leaks to go so far as create their own news app. I don’t blame them though. Rumors and leaks get way too much coverage, here, and on other gaming news sites.
I was a bit bummed that the generic 2025 release year was still present, but I had already assumed this would be a cross platform launch title for the Switch 2, so it makes sense they wouldn’t reveal the release date for the Switch 2 in this Direct.
I will be more concerned if there’s no mention of MP4 in next week’s Direct.
I can confirm the patch notes, the Dole collab is still present in the game as long as you use the Dole DLC ball. I did not see any other Dole cosmetic items, but if Dole stickers plastered everywhere is that important to you then having one on your monkey ball should be a no-brainer.
Tolkien was my favorite author when I was little, but video games based off of LotR have never held my fancy. LEGO LotR remains the only one I’ve played (and finished). I am currently watching S2 of the Rings of Power and have been impressed by the quality of the show. It makes me hopeful that eventually I will get a LotR game of similar quality. This is not to say Tales of the Shire is poor quality, just not want I am looking for from the series.
Breakout on the Atari 5200 was my jam at four-years-old. There is a decent chance I cross-wired some of my brain’s synapses playing the higher difficulty levels of its Progressive (i.e. Infinite) mode. But there was nothing prettier than clearing those brightly colored bricks at high speed.
I look forward to adding this to my collection, even though I agree that joystick controls pale in comparison to the precision of an Atari paddle.
@kkslider5552000 My anecdotal evidence suggests the game is thriving right now. When I first started playing the game after the holidays, most of my online matches were all bots. I was lucky to see 2 or 3 nongeneric usernames during online matches. The last couple of weeks it has flipped around and I only see 3 or 4 generic bot names in matches.
@BASEDSAKRI If you want the Dole stickers back, slap your monkey into the Dole logo ball the game gifted us (assuming I am understanding the patch notes correctly)
We were less enthusiastic about Warriors: Abyss, unfortunately, calling it "a decent low-budget spinoff in the long-running hack ‘n’ slash series, but [not] particularly inspiring" in our 6/10 review.
So light on the ‘slash’ and just heavy on the ‘hack’ gameplay
@BlaizeV What is this post even? You claim the roster is getting thinner and thinner because Nintendo refuses to do crossovers when the latest entry of the traditionally Mario-only racer had characters from Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Legend of Zelda in it as well. So basically the most recent Mario Kart did exactly what you are claiming Nintendo will not do in the franchise….
I decided to retire my OG Switch at the start of the year due to its lithium battery expanding, which jammed against one of the screws on the side, preventing me from being able to open the device to replace the battery. It still works, but fortunately I had made the impulsive buy of the Zelda OLED when it initially released, and decided to stop playing with fire on the old Switch.
So I’ve been watching the micro sd cards, waiting for a good deal. And finally pulled the trigger on a Samsung EVO Select 1tb card last week. Amazon still has it at the $70 deal price I paid.
I had been looking at the 1.5tb card, because my OG Switch had nearly filled its 1tb card, but decided the lower speeds/classification wasn’t worth the extra space.
PSA: Gold points still live on through physical game purchases that released before the program was discontinued. In the US, those points can be redeemed up to a year after release. In Europe, I believe the redemption period is two years after release.
I had been playing my brother’s vanilla world almost exclusively for the last half of 24, but then he put it on Realms and started a second modded world that my poor Switch couldn’t handle. After a week of badgering him each day to switch back to vanilla so I could work on my build, I told him I was done. Couple weeks ago he told me he was canceling Realms because nobody plays anymore…. I decided it was best to hold my tongue.
Under 24 hours left (I think? Better to play it safe and assume the 24th deadline).
I purchased the Famicom Detective Club bundle to get the additional $3 in gold coins and now have a little more than $8 to use afterwards. Now I am trying to decide if I should grab a few more games for the gold coins or if I should wait for a deeper discount. Loop Hero at $3.74 is tempting, but it may drop to $1.99 eventually which beats the 19 gold coins if I buy it now.
5 million copies feels criminally low. It’s a bit of shock that when SE was churning out RPG after RPG on the Switch that they didn’t revisit Chrono Trigger.
Did not expect XCX to be so popular. I have it on my WiiU, but haven’t finished XC1 on my Wii yet, lol.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons keeps on, keeping on. Tried to give souvenir chocolates to a camper that I have been waiting to pop up on the DLC but no luck. Wisp finally appeared on ACNH’s 5th anniversary, but the new flooring he gave me wasn’t one of the three floors I was missing. Oh drumsticks…
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble has another 4.5 months of season rewards to snag, and the lottery should be cleaned out in the next week. Up to 85% completion on the stage missions, and starting to think 100% completion may be possible for me.
Splatoon 3 is starting to fall off and I may not pick it up again until SpringFest in two weeks. But Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is attempting to fill that gap. It is pretty daunting to start from scratch with the DLC providing 120 race courses.
But the game that will take up much of my time now is The Legend of Link: Echoes of Wisdom. Completed the first dungeon and now I am doing what I love to do in any RPG/Adventure game… everything I possibly can while avoiding where the game/story wants me to do. But I would like to resume my visual novels in April, so I might push forward a bit quicker this time around.
@abbyhitter no need to rush, the points can be redeemed anytime within a year of release, then you’ll have a year from redemption to use them before they expire
Heh. I was just looking over Atari and Nightdive’s catalog on the eShop after the NL news of their next releases. I have my eye on the Recharged series, but would prefer the two bundles to be $19.99 total instead of $19.99 each. Would prefer a single physical release even more.
The screenshots of Blade Runner made me realize how much Cloudpunk cribbed from the movie in their game. And I am keeping an eye on the Wizardry physical version, hoping it gets a sale.
I watched a youtube video on the history of Super Monkey Ball and the Ytuber had an absolute melt down over a Sega tweet that said every Sonic game is canon, all of it. And since AiAi has appeared in Sonic spin-offs and Sonic has been a playable character in SMB games, technically, he had to include the Sonic games into his SMB timeline (spoiler: he didn’t). But his frustration over that one tweet was quite funny.
@JustMonika I stopped buying from LRG in part due to their higher markup over normal retail, at least their product that BestBuy sold would eventually see a sale. There’s no frickin’ way I am going to pay the insane markup resellers on eBay list those games for.
Nobunaga’s Ambition was my college buddy’s all time fave. He had an almost intense reverence for the game… or he just loved screaming “Nobunaga’s Ambition” while drunk.
I got my copies of M&L Brothership and LoZ: EoW from Woot this week and noticed the bottom corner where the ESRB rating would’ve been was blank. Look on the back cover and it appears I was sent physical copies from the Middle East/Southeast Asia region. I figured this meant I wouldn’t get gold points from the titles, but to my surprise, I did! Only then did I see the ESRB rating printed on the carts themselves and the cart codes that identified the carts as NA region games.
It’s nice I was still able to claim the points, and I do like the front covers without the ESRB rating. But I also support region specific pricing and haven’t personally taken my Switch “on vacation” to Argentina’s eShop, so I feel a little taken advantage of by these Woot resellers.
I really dislike the Switch 2 logo. Between “Nintendo Switch” being placed under the 2 making it read “2 Nintendo Switch” and the placement of the joycons beside the 2 making it asymmetrical, just no.
It would much more pleasing to my eye if one or both of these changes were made: place “Nintendo Switch” on top and/or place the 2 between the joycon graphics. Marketing isn’t rocket science!
Been enjoying my island again for the past three months. Have under 80 diy recipes to obtain and a dozen each of the big/fish models left. It is starting to feel like a chore, but I am close to closing out 2021.
I have a big decision to make with the DLC. My goal was to fill the grid with a villager at every island, but keeping each species together on the same grid location. Only problem- there are 48 vacation spots, but only 30-ish villager species. My solution was to use villagers that represented a different species than their actual species. So Drago the dragon has his own island, instead of being placed with the other gators.
But a loading screen tip mentioned I can use the souvenir chocolates to get characters from my island interested in a vacation home… if that applies to non-villagers than that opens up far more species and I can move Drago (and the many non-ostriches) back together. I haven’t tried moving a vacation home, I know the outside will need to change, but if I have to redo the interior from scratch… yeah, no thanks.
@kereke12 This was my reaction with Splatoon 3. Just couldn’t believe they would only support the game with regular updates for a mere two years before dropping it like a stone. Certain badges would require a solid decade to obtain. And I convinced myself the four different color splats for the DLC meant four waves instead of the actual two.
Boggles my mind that they didn’t hold S3 off until the Switch 2. Simultaneously neutered both Splatoon 2 and 3 by releasing both on the Switch.
I was hoping for a physical version of P3/P4 on Switch to go with my physical copy of P5. But then Atlus let LimitedRunGames handle the physical versions of those two games. I had sworn off LRG and only bought their products through BestBuy… and then LRG and BB ended their partnership. So now I wait for the digital bundle to get a deep discount. That could change if the Reload versions get ported to S2.
Kinda annoyed the 4+ min long video on the BIG PUBLISHER SALE featured the DQIII remake when the game isn’t discounted. At the very least there was certainly enough runtime to allow a disclaimer in the VA’s script.

I won’t completely avoid dark content, I just now need to prepare myself to be faced with the unfortunate real world similarities that they will inevitably raise.
