Nintendo brought us a rather brilliant Indie World today, and reserved its 'one more thing' moment for Eastward, which is developed by Pixpil and published by Chucklefish. We wrote about this one quite recently, and it turns out we don't have long to wait for the game's release - it lands on Switch as a timed console exclusive on 16th September.
It's undoubtedly eye-catching, and has suitably quirky vibes that are sure to capture a big audience; you can see a gameplay video above and an official summary below.
Discover a beautifully detailed post-apocalyptic world in Eastward, an action-adventure RPG with puzzle-solving and dungeon elements. In a near-future society on the brink of collapse, a hardworking miner called John discovers a young girl named Sam in a secret underground facility. This unlikely pair will embark on an emotional journey to discover the truth, traveling across a wonderfully weird world and exploring bustling towns, curious campsites and shady forests.
Pre-orders will open on the eShop later today - is this one for the wishlist?

This game looks like it will be good
Yeap got that mark on my calendar now.
I don't usually buy games on release but we've waited so for this I just might. I am sufficiently hyped, thank you.
This game stood out to me in the presentation. It looks really good!
I've had my eye on this one for a while, the pixel art in this game is really stunning.
$28 CAD is a little much. I'll wait for reviews and maybe a sale.
That music with these visuals is just too much. Been excited for this a loooong time. Can't believe it is finally here. Please deliver!
I love the Neo-80s chiptune soundtrack style!
This looks wonderful. I'm hoping for a physical release.
This looks really good and meaty. Saw this on Steam initially and glad its coming to Switch. That indie world direct was probably the best one in a long time. Garden story, metal slug tactics, this plus some quality titles coming from PC.
Think this was the most interesting game featured in the Indie Direct ... the first time. Second time around, it still looks really cool. Great art, great genre - all comes down to execution now. Looking forward to the first reviews. Getting CrossCode vibes - so fingers crossed.
Oh yeah! Super excited for this one, so hype they finished the direct off on this one! Can't wait!
Baldo releasing soon and now this, happy days
Like many others here I’ve had my eye on this for ages. It’s been on my Steam wish list for literally years. I’m excited to see if there is a good game behind all that lush pixel art. A Switch debut makes perfect sense.
Should we expect a physical release for this one, similar to Axiom Verge 2?
Might end up picking this up on the Switch. Had it on my Steam wishlist for ages, but my gaming rig died and my current PC doesn't play well with most games since it's 11 years old (especially when needing Proton).
Waiting for a Physical option to be had...
