Re: Eiji Aonuma Outlines the Challenges in Developing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

ULTRA-64

@Frank-The-Tank @OorWullie @aaronsullivan
This statement is obviously pr BS!! Why on earth would anyone admit to a mistake in development a month or so before release? Nobody did that EVER!!
It's obvious that he's trying to soften the impact of the hard hitting news that Wii u owners who bought the console for games like this just got shafted....
It's all well and good saying what is left is preferred but I just waited a year of delays to be told I'm getting less than they planned. I could have finished the game by now and started saving for the switch version to double dip. Of course if the other version was better that would tempt me through skilled game design combined with better hardware performance......It's almost like they couldn't actually ADD anything of worth except prettier environments. The obvious reason the game was delayed and that features were cut is that they wanted to rush out a new console which had no games and wanted the launch to go well and attract a 'new audience' to spend money on the switch. Well what about people that already payed out cash for hardware that never got promised features/games/support etc....They lie on a regular basis so this is nothing new really.
Oh, and uniqe Wii u features would list-
-Second screen map
-Inventory management
-miiverse
-Mid-play internet use
-Being able to charge your gamepad whilst using it in a stand πŸ˜‰
-Off screen play for more than 3 hour's
-Errrmmmm saving to a USB stick.....Ok bottom of the barrell now but you catch my drift. We will lose some features ok πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Sorry if this seems harsh, I'm not quite calm about this yet......

Re: Eiji Aonuma Outlines the Challenges in Developing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

ULTRA-64

Absolutely furious about this but respect his honesty (at last).
They have basically gimped the Wii u version in every possible way except graphics of course so they could shoe horn more of our fanboy money into their precious switch launch. We have been made fools of over this Wii u Zelda fiasco and it stinks. I bought a Wii u to have Zelda games amongst others with all the bells and whistles that made me buy their overpriced hardware in the first place. Now they have decided I should be rewarded for my day 1 wii u purchase followed by massive game droughts they 'promised' wouldn't happen with a Zelda game that has had over a year in delays while they REMOVED the features I bought a Wii u for in the first place. Please excuse my frustration, I'm having a bad day. This however has really REALLY got to me.....

Re: Ubisoft Confident Switch Can Be A "Bridge" Between Home Consoles And Mobile

ULTRA-64

@NEStalgia it's hard to disagree with anything you said as it's all possible and realistic. However it's all opinions and speculation at this point, we'll simply have to wait to see how the market responds. It's quite fascinating from a 'watching society evolve' point of view I guess!?!
From my own point of view, I don't play modern handhelds and I don't spend enough time on the go to justify its inclusion in the switch. I collect retro handhelds so I'd play those or use my phone. So for me the switch is a home console with off screen play......A Wii U if you willπŸ˜‰ , as such I'm judging this mostly by the games and gameplay options. IMO the launch line up is really weak and I've got to see a convincing range of uses for the joy-cons to get more excited than I am. It's not like I won't buy a switch, but I'll wait a year or so for some more major releases (pikmin 4 would pull me in πŸ˜‰) and bide my time. Maybe we'll see a price drop if many more are thinking like me?

Re: Ubisoft Confident Switch Can Be A "Bridge" Between Home Consoles And Mobile

ULTRA-64

@rjejr "It can't compete w/ both PS4/X1 at home and 3DS on the road"...... Nailed it with that statement there. I find it hard to imagine it getting much shelf space against those powerhouses! I think maybe they are spreading themselves too thin in intentions again, they are imo still missing a clear message on what all this is about.
Noticed the switch 'pro controller' is selling for Β£99.99 on Amazon UK!! You can buy a second hand ps4 for that....And I will πŸ˜‰

Re: Brexit Could Increase Super Mario Run's Unlock Cost In The UK

ULTRA-64

@banacheck eh? I don't really think you understand that the market value of currency falls and rises in response to economics and uncertainty which is in turn effected by politics and major corporate spending patterns. So of course the value will also be due to current events like brexit. Things go up and down all the time, you don't need to have hero's and scapegoat situations in economics. It will always be the result of all of the factors effecting the economy, all of the time, it's a constant flow of influence.......

Re: Yes, You Can Charge Your Nintendo Switch In Tabletop Mode

ULTRA-64

@CB85 agreed. Strangely I've noticed a pro controller WITH cable accessory floating about and far cheaper than the wireless one.....You know of any functionality differences by any chance, or even the cable length?? πŸ˜‰
No site has successfully broken down the accessory options in a way I fully understand yetπŸ€”

Re: Rayman Creator Discusses Legends: Definitive Edition for Switch

ULTRA-64

@jimi agreed, the definitive version is Wii u due to the additional gameplay options opened up by the dual screen. The game was designed around these after all. We'll have to see what they chuck in to make the switch version special but it would take a tonne of extras to make me re-buy. I love the game but currently own the definitive version πŸ˜‰

Re: Guide: A Breakdown of Confirmed Nintendo Switch Games and Release Dates

ULTRA-64

@rjejr that was a bit strange timing wise eh? Guess we're on the same wave length on thisπŸ˜‰
I'm feeling really burned out by the whole thing so far I think. Not enough of my type of thing so far, maybe e3 WILL be great and I'll have a more positive attitude then but right now I'm struggling to see what will make me buy one....

Re: Video: Alex Shares His First Impressions Of The Nintendo Switch With Nintendo UK

ULTRA-64

@Billsama I don't play portable games. I collect retro handhelds so I play game boys and game gears on the go. The portable features are undeniably golden to some. I'm just not one of them. I don't WANT to resort to ps4, it's just the last of us 2 if more exciting to me than the entire launch line up of the switch. I'll calm down about it when they announce more I guess πŸ˜‰

Re: Video: Alex Shares His First Impressions Of The Nintendo Switch With Nintendo UK

ULTRA-64

@faint I'll say again, limited market appeal - japan account for around 10% of consoles sold worldwide. We all know that this will do better there than elsewhere. The Wii u didn't do awfully there and that did nothing to stop that being a flop. It could be that they will LOVE the switch but if it flops in Europe and particularly American markets then the console will fail. I'm sorry to seem negative but other than the handheld features and the usual games. What will people buy a switch for?

Re: Video: Alex Shares His First Impressions Of The Nintendo Switch With Nintendo UK

ULTRA-64

@faint "This thing is the most powerful portable system widely released on the market." - no it isn't! It might be the most powerful DEDICATED GAMING hardware available for a couple of months but as publicised the new Maxwell chip will come out very soon and push it down from there. It IS new, it IS powerful but it's nothing special except for the portability which will at best have only limited market apeal as a feature.

Re: Video: Alex Shares His First Impressions Of The Nintendo Switch With Nintendo UK

ULTRA-64

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'll fall on that sword with you dude, this has all the hallmarks of a massive fail.
Don't know if you've seen the video yet but it IS a suck up clip rather than honest stance but this is a pr stunt not journalism I'm afraid. Which is understandable I guess in the current pre-release phase. I can buy a ps4 second hand for Β£100 so at this rate I'll maybe never buy a switch unless they give me a good reason to buy one soon. As a Nintendo fan boy I'm as baffled at my own feelings as Nintendo's actions.....πŸ€”

Re: Guide: A Breakdown of Confirmed Nintendo Switch Games and Release Dates

ULTRA-64

The way I see it. Wii u had a better launch line up by a distance. Along with loads more additional features to sell the hardware. The Wii u was set up to succeed better in pretty much every way except the level of desperation from Nintendo fans.
I'm slowly admitting to myself that the switch is going to bomb hard. At least at first while they can still fix things (a la xbone) and we all know how crucial the launch phase is to overall chances of success!!

Re: Hands On: Putting the Nintendo Switch Hardware Through Its Paces

ULTRA-64

@rjejr well the 'new pikmin' game being the 3ds version was my worst Nintendo fear over this saga of a game drought. It has to be the most delayed Nintendo franchise!?! (Article idea Nintendo life?πŸ˜‰)
The whole thing has me so confused and I'm the sort of geek that always buys into their hype, I don't know what I'm supposed to be excited about here tbh? The games aren't for me except Mario and the overpriced accessory options are going to inflate the price allot. I'm going to watch the full presentation soon as I've been working so just read up so far. Maybe seeing it run will get me going more!?!

Re: Hands On: Putting the Nintendo Switch Hardware Through Its Paces

ULTRA-64

Sorry to be a negative Nancy but I'm not sold. I'm maybe a bit biased because the portable part is wasted on me but it's all very meh so far.....
I need more games and features I think to get all fanboy about it. I assume pikmin didn't get a mention and the new 3d Mario needs to wow me a bit more yet. I'll probably buy Zelda on Wii U and get a switch at Xmas to see how it plays out?

Re: Shovel Knight Is Coming To Nintendo Switch With Gender Swapping And Co-Op Modes

ULTRA-64

I don't own the game yet so I'm not that bothered but I'd be pissed if I'd have gotten through my back log and bought this along with the amiibo as planned. I don't like the tacky plastic junk but I want features they unlock occasionally. It would have nearly doubled the price of the game overall which for something later given as a free update would be ,imo, a little unfair. Another example of scamiibo!!

Re: The Next Penelope Cancelled On Wii U, But Nintendo Switch Version Could Happen

ULTRA-64

@spizzamarozzi and those are just the games we know about. We will never really know how many games were planned and canned or 'switched' behind the scenes that didn't even get to the stage of public announcement. Are we all ready to admit that the Wii u was a Devs nightmare by now at least though. Whilst Nintendo and their 2nd party allies have done great things with the hardware, I've lost count of the complaints about how it was so difficult to programming for. It should never be the case that your brand new (well at one point it wasπŸ˜‰) console can't run current generation games properly.
Fingers crossed that the switch leaves this situation behind.....

Re: Art: Banjo-Kazooie Reimagined in the Mario RPG Style

ULTRA-64

@sandman89 I wouldn't disagree with that statement but give them chance to grow on you firstπŸ˜‰
I wasn't a fan of banjo in diddy Kong racing but after more back story and gameplay time he's clearly a legend...... It takes time for something character based to build connections with gamers. Nostalgia will always make us 'love' the characters in the games we had the most fun with so maybe after you play the game you'll maybe even prefer themπŸ˜‰

Re: Poll: Are You Optimistic for Nintendo's 2017?

ULTRA-64

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I hear you there man! I'm very cautious through conditioning, I bought a Wii u day one so I've felt some testing times for Nintendo the last few years.
Tbh I'm yet to be sold on the whole concept, I need more before I can get excited. I'm unlikely to buy a switch before next Christmas at this rate, for Nintendo to need to 'sell' their next hardware to a fan like me shows how far they have slipped. I'm optimistic in nature, cautious through experience πŸ˜‰

Re: Talking Point: Splatoon May Be Winding Down, But Its Legacy Could Be Significant

ULTRA-64

@Anti-Matter I know your taste, having chatted with you before on here. I would recommend spatoon to you for sure! It is not at all violent or offensive to a sensitive taste.
This will probably be your best chance to not only try the genre without confliction but to really enjoy it. You won't regret it. Put simply, if you can live with a bit of Street fighter then you can relax about this oneπŸ˜‰
