Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd December (Europe)

@OorWullie make sure to grab steamworld heist mate, it's a great game. I finished it the other day and will play it through again straight away. I NEVER do this so that's a massive compliment!
The house stuff is going fine by the way, the bank are still talking to me so that's a good sign. It's a slow stressful process I guess ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

ULTRA-64

Yeah, yeah Wii u owners get screwed again, same old story.......
I'm just so sick of having to be understanding of another commercial/technical problem that means some companies are not going to do what they said they would do on this console. There have been countless lies and broken promises regarding Wii u games in its short time on the market and it's just a horrible experience overall.

Re: Feature: 10 Essential Wii U And 3DS Platformers

ULTRA-64

@Mahe the consensus that the game was better on Wii u was picked up from multiple reviews. I spend allot of time on metacritic ๐Ÿ˜‰
I guess it just comes down to personal preference really. Assuming the views I read were based on the features you prefer not to have, it's obvious you wouldn't come to the same conclusion. There's nothing wrong with that. I 100%ed the game on Wii u and then later helped a friend on on an Xbox one and found it had ,imo , over simplified the element of skill in co-op play. That timing of a button press was easier that sliding a block up for example and I liked the difficulty harder. So long as you enjoyed the game like I did, who cares eh? ๐Ÿ˜

Re: Feature: 10 Essential Wii U And 3DS Platformers

ULTRA-64

@Mahe that's a strange thing to say!?! The game has been universally praised for embracing the Wii u hardware to great effect. Obviously everyone has their own preference, but I'm really curious to know your reasoning on why it's better on other platforms as it's such an unusual opinion in this case?

Re: Feature: 10 Essential Wii U And 3DS Platformers

ULTRA-64

For me, DK:TF and rayman are way above the rest.
There are lots of good games in that list and I've enjoyed all the Wii u ones with the exception of shovel knight (I'll get round to that soon๐Ÿ˜‰). However the only 2 games I'd call 'special' were rayman and DK. They were simply the most original, fun, rewarding and perfectly crafted games of their type I've ever played and I couldn't think of a way they could be better. Both even have incredible soundtracks!! Hard to choose between them but I'd probably say if I could have played only one, I'd pick DK:TF as I remember distinctly the the buzz of getting to 100% being just so satisfying, hard but rewarding game!

Re: Feature: Xenoblade Chronicles X - One Year Later

ULTRA-64

Just finished this last week, great game. Took me nearly 300hrs to get my fill and I'll probably be my last RPG of this type I'll ever play. At 32 I simply can't commit to another massive game like this again, all good but too much for me tbh ๐Ÿค•

Re: The Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary amiibo Provide Food and Goodies in Breath of the Wild

ULTRA-64

@rjejr agreed on the strange timing of these amiibo! Simply makes no sense having an interactive toy that doesn't interact with anything yet. I'm tempted to say that this undermines their whole argument that they are 'not collectibles but an interactive tool for getting the most out of games'......
I'm with @SLIGEACH_EIRE on this, the amiibo was the only thing giving Nintendo a decent margin of profit at one point so the business planning were throwing them onto the market quicker than the devs could think of ways to make use of them in game. Devaluing , imo, the entire market that the product was based on in the process by flooding the market with a demand for a product people people didn't know how/why to use gaming wise. (Possibly even causing the cancellation of skylanders/infinity, but this could just be the fad ending?)
Furthermore, I'm actually getting a little suspicious of the manufacturing/ethics process of Nintendo. The constant under supply and hype demand of their products is strange to the extreme. I have to fight the thought that they engineer short supply (Wii/smash pad/amiibo/nes mini etc..) in order to magnify their sales opportunities and create global demand beyond the relevance of the product. Short supply of a heavily demanded product is just poor business sence otherwise!?!

Re: European Wii U and 3DS eShop Cyber Deals Now Confirmed

ULTRA-64

Nothing exciting at all really. Having said that, Starfox guard probably won't be any cheaper at any point and pullblox world has been on my wish list for three years now. May as well buy just to be done with it and have them ready for another time. I've finally finished XCX now so my back log it going to get some attention!!

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th November (Europe)

ULTRA-64

@OorWullie yeah, you do an awful lot of exploring and wandering in XCX. Ive lost about 300hrs to that game and ive not done everything! It gets less tedius and more fun once you get your skell, its a bit of a tipping point.
Youve got me worried about yooka laylee not coming out on wii u now. Im probably not going to jump strait in on the switch!?!

Mortgage application approved btw!

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th November (Europe)

ULTRA-64

@OorWullie i wish i could say i was saving for the switch!! Im buying a house, so much more stressfull and will effect me for longer. Means i can fully customise my man cave if the sale goes through though. Ive got tons of retro hardware in boxes and id love some shelving and stands so i can play stuff when i want without having to pull everything out.....
Ive got the last story chapter of XCX saved as a reward for when i get back from a meeting with my bank today. That game is a budgeters dream, its got me 6 months of no new game purchases!!!

Re: The Game Boy Color Is Finally Getting The Backlight Mod It Deserves

ULTRA-64

This news is interesting but doesn't mean anything at all.
Those screens are really hard to find now so it makes very little difference to modders like me as you still need a bank of parts. I've got a stack of game boy colours at home and tons of gameboy advance models all waiting for screen mods.
The hard part is finding back-lit mod packs (mostly discontinued) or finding an advance sp with the better screen inside at a good enough price to afford to butcher it!!
Please tip me off if anybody has any links but I'm REALLY struggling for screen and MOD parts right now. Pokemon go blowing up is not helping retro handheld collectors ๐Ÿ˜œ

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th November (Europe)

ULTRA-64

@SLIGEACH_EIRE nano assault is quite good little game, little steep on the difficulty curve mind. You're right though, it's never had a good sale price! I bought it at the same time as trine 2 in the early days and that's always on sale!?!

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th November (Europe)

ULTRA-64

Wow, even the discounted options are pathetic!! Makes me slightly concerned as I've only got 1 chapter of story left in xenoblade x......who am I kidding, I could still get another 50 or so hours out of that game ๐Ÿ˜‰
