Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Tackles Metroid Prime: Federation Force and amiibo Criticism

TuVictus

@ferkner it's clear you didn't read my entire post. Instead read the first few lines, got really defensive for no reason, and wrote a reply. How about finishing reading comments before you start telling me how I feel, how about that in case you actually don't go up and read it since comments are apparently too hard for you to finish, I said I think it looks fun and look forward to it. Jesus.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Tackles Metroid Prime: Federation Force and amiibo Criticism

TuVictus

The Wind Waker comparison is only appropriate if your only complaint with Federation Force is the art style. But not gameplay. Wind Waker kept the sense of exploration and dungeons that people love the Zelda games for.

Federation Force, as confirmed by the director himself, is not focused on the exploration and isolation that Metroid is known for. It's focused on action and the ball game. So it's hardly an appropriate comparison, Reggie. Nice try, though.

That being said, I look forward to Federation Force. I think it will be a fun game. Just a really bad Metroid game. Like Nuts and Bolts was to Banjo Kazooie.

Re: The Prices of the Remaining Physical Goods on Club Nintendo in North America Have Been Reduced

TuVictus

@JaxonH

It's hardly "free". We did have to buy hundreds of dollars worth of games to qualify for these things. I mean I see your point, but can you honestly not see the annoyance from gamers that felt the prices listed in february were the final ones? If I'd know this would happen, I would have saved my 1000 coins. Just seems like a jerk move by Nintendo, honestly. Even though I do understand, I feel for people who regret their purchases now

Re: Poll: Did The Splatoon Global Testfire Hit Its Targets?

TuVictus

Contrary to popular opinion (of course, don't crucify me), I think it really just made me want the game less. Well, not necessarily, but it made me not want to pay $60 for it. If it was $40, I think I'd buy it. The gameplay/maps got boring after a couple of rounds and the sniper was very disappointing. And contrary to what everyone says, I feel like communication would have helped alot when playing. Not to mention make it more fun than playing in silence.

But it was fun for a little while, so that's good. I hope it improves over time.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Plans for DLC and Microtransactions Point to Changed Priorities

TuVictus

I'm so glad this article was made. It points out the hypocrisy of many people who used to do nothing but slam every other company for having DLC like this. Sega making mobile games? Oh no! They're dead, what an awful decision! Nintendo making mobile games? Oh what a good idea, they will certainly succeed.

Capcom/Ea/Evolve/NetherRealms/other 3rd party offer cosmetic DLC

Yuck! They're nickle and diming us! Down with 3rd parties! No more DLC!

Nintendo offers a bunch of costumes for Mii fighters

Yay! I'm going to buy it, after all it's only cosmetic. Don't like it, don't buy it. It's not bad at all!

Any other company does dree to play with microtransactions

I'd never play that! It's just awful and makes you pay money

Nintendo does it

Oh it's okay because you don't HAVE to pay money. (even though games like candy crush or angry bird can be played with no money, yet we used to see non stop hatred from us nintendo "fans" for it)

Really, all these changes and DLC aren't inherently bad, but it sure is interesting to see us, as a fanbase, so readily accepting of it when just a year ago we were writing essays on how nintendo would never do free to play or mobile games and that anyone who does is awful.

Perhaps there's truth to that mocked saying "It's okay when Nintendo does it"

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Turns to Classics, DLC and amiibo to Keep Fans Hooked

TuVictus

@Quorthon

I really couldn't have said it any better myself. The whole direct really struck me as Nintendo desperately trying to come up with stuff to get people excited. I mean, why focus on Streetpass mini games for more than 10 seconds? Why show yet another trailer for Xenoblade 3DS? Box Boy looks like the kind of game that should have been shoved into the eShop sizzle reel. All of it just stunk of "keep playing these games because chances are we won't be giving you many more".

The fact that we didn't even hear about StarFox, Xenoblade, or the Club Nintendo replacement tells me they're saving them for extra padding during their E3 presentation so they can keep any new reveals to a minimum.

And there's far too many amiibo now. It made sense for Smash and Super Mario, 2 of the biggest franchises that encompasses most of Nintendo's IP. But Splatoon amiibo? An unproven game that may very well suffer the "it's not mario or zelda so nintendo fans won't buy it" curse. Why would they make amiibos for that? Why not a wave 2 of Super Mario? And they clearly aren't going to address the amiibo shortages which I think is the saddest thing of all. If I knew I could walk into a store casually and buy them, I wouldn't mind this overload of amiibo. But knowing they're all going to be extremely rare save for 1 or 2 just turns me off to them entirely.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 1st April

TuVictus

Pretty disappointing in all honesty. Any game that was interesting was slapped with a "not coming anytime soon" sticker. Yarn Yoshi amiibos were awesome, though.

The N64 VC is neat, even if it should have been there from the beginning and was already available through wii mode.

And there will always be the people saying "Well you expected too much!". Not really, all I expected was a release window for XBX. But since they didn't show it, that tells me that they're saving it to pad out their E3 direct, as well as StarFox. What I saw in this direct was Nintendo struggling to get interesting content out. Why waste time on Xenoblade 3DS? BoxBoy? And streetpass mini games?

And their DLC practices are starting to become terrible. Those smash costumes are just... disappointing to say the least. They are becoming "modern" in all the wrong ways in my honest opinion.

But that isn't to say I'm not happy for those who enjoyed the direct. I'm glad you guys got what you wanted!

Re: Nintendo Reveals the Final Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

TuVictus

@freaksloan

I understand your sentiment.... but both Microsoft and Sony give away multiple games for free every month, if you're subscribed to their services. Which is a good deal in the end. No, nintendo doesn't have to give us anything, but it just seems silly to give these games as rewards to people who probably already bought them to qualify for these rewards.

Re: Talking Point: That Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door 3DS Rumour Looks Fake, But Do You Want it to be True?

TuVictus

I really doubt it's real. But I'd love for it to be

If Sony can get away with re releasing game that are a barely a year old on their console for near full price and people defend them ("Oh this is a good thing because now people who didn't have a PS3 can get it on the PS4"), I don't see why Nintendo shouldn't be able to do remasters of games that are 2 generations old already.

Re: Famitsu Article Reportedly Inks Out More Splatoon Details

TuVictus

@IceClimbers

When it comes to Nintendo, there has been no majority because they don't give us the chance or option. And with them being so terrified of the internet, we probably won't have accurate data anytime soon. All they need to do is limit it to friends, so parents who don't properly supervise their children can't blame nintendo for the random people talking to them through the TV. At least with friends there would be consent

Re: Famitsu Article Reportedly Inks Out More Splatoon Details

TuVictus

Not sure why some of you are wondering why people don't want to buy the game if there's no way of communicating. It's simple. This game relies exclusively on team work, and 90% of the fun in games like these is being able to enjoy it with friends/other people. With no way to talk to them, it just feels like you're playing against bots, you have no influence on what they do, where if you could talk to them, you could plan accordingly. And this game is probably MORE strategical than Call of Duty in that you have to paint the most area of the map. In CoD most of the time you're just shooting anyone on the opposing team for the most points.

Overall, no voicechat takes away much of the fun that team based games bring to the table.
