Re: Epic Pulls Fortnite Dog From Sale After Player Backlash, Compensation Being Provided

TooBarFoo

For all the issues with many free to play games Fortnite seems to be pretty good value all round. I bought season pass for my kids and since then they have continued to earn enough for the next season as well as unlocking a ton of skins that has kept them happy. They have been playing for months, getting loads of new stuff and all for about £7 each. That is a model I can support. See how for you get in FIFA with just £7

Re: Review: Pillars Of Eternity: Complete Edition - The Game That Saved Obsidian Comes To Switch

like many i am torn on this one. long RPGs are best on switch time wise but this is at its heart a port of a PC game that looses out without keyboard and mouse. But its sitting in my steam backlog un-played. I will, in all probability wait until a sale comes along, add it my switch back-log and then continue to complain I just can't find the time to play all the games I want.....

Re: Random: Mario Without His Mustache Just Doesn't Look Right

TooBarFoo

Yep....... Not my Mario.

I not a fan of PC emulating current gen games which is what is needed to create the above but I did take a look at BOTW on my powerful PC just to see it at its best. It was incredible how much extra detail Nintendo put in it games that their current gen systems can not show. Its almost like they are making them pre-ready for release on the next three generations. And I do have my 100% legal and legit copy of BOTW and 200+ hour play file on my switch.

Re: Reminder: Vote For Your Favourite Nintendo DS Games

TooBarFoo

reading through all these comments I really feel like I missed out. I never really took any notice of Nintendo until the switch came out. I bought a wii when it was first released but someone at work was desperately trying to find one for his daughter that Christmas and I was only playing on my new PS3 so i re boxed it and made sure she had a happy xmas. I loved the OG psp but it did not get a great deal of use after a first few months. Before that I was always mainly a PC gamer, still am really. But maybe I will go out grab a new 2DS and just load up on the top games voted here and see what I missed out on

Re: Hello Games Founder Sean Murray Shows Interest In No Man's Sky Switch Port

TooBarFoo

I know the game did not live up the early hype but I bought it not so long after release on the PS4 for a knocked down price of £10 and made my way center not once but twice. I found it relaxing. I bought it gain last week ready for pc vr release and at this point feel I have already had more than my money worth. Buy boy am I excited to boot up on my shiny new index vr set!!

Re: Rumour: Dataminer Supposedly Uncovers Tech Specs For New And Improved Switch

TooBarFoo

It looks more like a die shrink for the current X1 chip. This would result in a rework of the current switch and we have already seen a FCC submission for this. It does not look like it will have any user facing changes though, beyond maybe a SKU with a bit more storage and improved battery life. These updated internals should arrive at the same time as the lite model as they will lower production costs. That said I do expect a switch "pro" model to show itself but only in 2020.

Re: Switch Lite Reveal Sees Nintendo Shares Soar To Highest Point In Nine Months

TooBarFoo

@Heavyarms55 It is almost certainly to do with thermals, By shrinking the device they have a much smaller thermal envelop to work with. In TV mode the increased clocks equal increased heat. There is no cost in enabling TV mode as it is part of the X1 i/o package and both devices have a usb-c that can carry the signal. But you can't cheat physics, higher clocks need more power produces more heat.

Re: Nintendo Focusing On Switch Install Base To Combat Next-Gen Performance Gap

TooBarFoo

For me, the switch is 80% indies and 20% first party at this point. Even though I get much more play time on the switch than ps4, xbox, pc and VR combined I don't think multiplats is where it shines. I did get, and enjoy, Skyrim and Doom on the switch both of which I already owned but the novelty has worn off somewhat. If it is not a game that works well handheld with the small screen then its a pass from me.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Is Now Five Years Old

TooBarFoo

24 Million is a pretty impressive number. But I don't see much motivation at this time to release a new game when MK8 is still a regular top 10 charting title. Most switch sales will also pick up a copy of mk in the first few weeks. It's like the Nintendo GTA V. I expect they will let it run for some time yet

Re: Feature: What Developers Really Think Of The Nintendo Switch eShop

TooBarFoo

The switch is my indie platform, I can't imagine going back to steam for indies. But I do wish Nintendo would add a Indie Highlights page to the store. All the rubbish mobile ports are hiding the jems and unless I spend a few hours looking on line fore for indie recommendations it really hard now to find worthwhile new games.

Re: Wait A Minute, Is That Marina From Splatoon 2 On The Xbox One Dashboard?

TooBarFoo

I could make sense for a Nintendo Microsoft cross licencing deal to take on the might of the PS5. Microsoft could offer game steaming for the Switch giving it access to AAA games while offering high end 4k route to playing Nintendo IP. Very controllable and easy to dip their toes in without having to take a leap off the edge. I know I would at least look to explore if I was either party. Being able to play Nintendo IP on the Xbox would not have stopped me buying a switch or more importantly switch software.

Re: Early NPD Figures Suggest Nintendo Outperformed The Competition In January

TooBarFoo

@eltomo you may well be right. I have bought 3. Bought original, then bought pro and put the original in the kids play room then had to replace the original when it died and the kids had gotten use to having one. It does not increase the software sales one bit. I do wonder how much the pro and X increased the generations sales as it's the first time there was a real reason to go out and update for home consoles.

Re: Rumour: PlatinumGames' Scalebound Is Being Revived As a Nintendo Switch Exclusive

TooBarFoo

While I'm not convinced about this it should be noted that when Microsoft exited the contract in place for the development they would have had penalties, built into the contract from the start. As this was a Platinum IP before Microsoft entered the frame it is almost curtain that all rights would have been returned to Platinum. So this is not impossible, improbable? Yes but most likely possible.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Could Make Its First VR Announcement For Switch This Year

TooBarFoo

Yeh.....No. I'm afraid the switch just doesn't have the internals for a VR display. I think I saw somewhere that the LCD controller overclocked to around 75Hz before giving up. The PSVR at 90Hz is not great for motion sickness but get by for most people is more seated games. At 75Hz most people will start puking. Also at 720 it will not be a looker but I think the main issue is Nintendo will not want to have kids the world over throwing up on their Switches

Re: Bayonetta 2 Director Yusuke Hashimoto Leaves PlatinumGames

@Retupmocnin I don't know how much time you have spent in Japan but it sounds like not anywhere near enough to get a handle on Japanese culture. You are 100% off target. Having lived in Japan on and off for quite a few years the names behind manga, anime and game hits are the cultural icons in Japan in the same way the west currently is fixated on "reality" show personalities or Korea on it K-Pop stars. Not to be rude but have you really ever left your home town?
