Yep, this is just a bit of Philips hue and many other smart lights all ready do. I mean they even tried to patent the remote that Philips has been selling for 5+ years. No surprise then that they quietly dropped this!
I think Nintendo just did not want to put themselves into a position where, by offering a competent fully functioning service, they raise peoples expectations for the future offerings. As it stands we will all just acknowledge they do not get online and lower our expectation in response.
@Deltath For me I would be paying for the family plan not my kids, am I play loads online, just not on the switch going forward. We have switches, ps4s, xboxs and PCs so we have lots of options, just won't bother with any switch online till it has something I care about... But at least I get to be a grumpy old grumbler
No, i'm still going to grumble. Unless you put a value on NES games, which i don't, it's worthless. I'm just not going to add a further £37 to the many other subscriptions i have.... oh and did I grumble about still using peer2peer net code? Yes, yes I did!
If Nintendo some day spin up some dedicated servers for their first party games I may well take to plunge but peer-to-peer has proved just flaky enough to drive us any form long term engagement with Nintendos multiplayer
I like nintendo life as it is usually a nice place in a internet that is often filled with nastiness and hate. It is really disappointing to see that so clearly on show in such a normally friendly place. Although it is heartening to see so many of the usual commentators come out so strongly in support of being a kind human being. And to those that have lost close ones and find some of the comments hurtful many of us here share your pain.
Doom guy is already in smash.....I've said it before and I'll say it again the doom slayer and Link are one and the same but in different time/place. Think about it, you know it makes sense. All we need now is for the crossover game to confirm it
I'm with most of the others here, I think it has all been announced. Might be one or two suprises in there but I doubt it. I think it will show more of the let's go Pokémon games though.
I'm really over the the whole 8 /16 bit homage pixel art thing by now but this is one I may pick up but I'm really done with it. Originally when I bought the switch, my first Nintendo console since the GQ I just hoped for a few great Nintendo releases and good indie take up. It has certainly exceeded that and maybe that is way I now feel I want more. Two indie outings in a row just seem to highlight how bare rest of the year is looking
@RennanNT you can but you need to deactivate on the active switch, So I can not just log into my sons Switch and carry on like I can on both his PS4 and Xbox. On those platforms as long as I am not logged in on another system at that time I can just log-in and play. This "small" detail is the difference between something being great for those of us that play on multiple systems and completely worthless!
its fine to say you can jump from switch to switch with your save file but at the moment this will only work for games you own physically. You still can not log-in on a second switch and play your digital purchases. This needs to be sorted out first to made this of any value
I don't know how taken I am by the visual style of this game, I've gone from loving to hating to everywhere in-between back and forth. But at the end of the day its game play that will make or brake the game. So coming from a accomplished design team and them not putting all their time and money in photo graphics certainly keeps me interested. But only good reviews will open my wallet!
@BionicDodo Yep, its still great value even if you are on a really tight budget. I would recommend getting the digital and then if I get my hands on a physical it will go unopened into the collection. It is about 5.2 Gig after the update so it does eat a bit of storage
I still have not played GTA V !! One of the last three gamers on earth it seems like sometimes. I had great fun in the other GTA's both mainline and sony portables but I just never felt ready to give 5 a 100 hours of big screen time. I'd pick it up on Switch for portable play
@BionicDodo its funny, I felt the game was to cheap with its standard price so made a point of buying some t-shirt merch linked from the team cherry web site to try and better support the Devs. But the main thing is everyone who ever enjoyed a metrovania should play this game
I'm about 80 hours into this and still really enjoying it. Its taking me a long time mainly because i really suck at the boss fights (I'm old and slow) and have a tenancy to go back and re-explore old areas over and over in case I missed something or a new ability opened something up. It is a true masterpiece in my personal view.
I might see if I can pick one of these up. I've been doing 3 hour + Hollow knight sessions and have had to stop as thumb cramp makes me cry like a baby after a few hours I tried another but it was totally pants.
It looks like a great game from a small team. I haven't played yet but my 11 year old is totally hooked. Its always going to hard for a small team doing a multi plat game to refine the code to maximise the switch handheld. but mam is the switch the best way to play play these leading indies. I really bought it for Zelda and a better way to get more time to enjoy this kind of game. It has of course taken over 80%+ of my game time and done so much more but as long as we get this games on the platform in good state I'm happy. I do think a lot the small devs may start moving the main code base to the switch as porting from their as the financials seem to support this direction.
I bought Doom for pretty cheap on the ps4, think it was £14 but while it seemed great only played a few hours. It always hard to get in big screen mature gaming in and I move on or forgot about it. Double dipped for switch on a whim to have a game with me when I was headed somewhere and I ended up doing two full play thoughs. If your going to play on the big screen your better getting it on another platform by the handheld experience was a demon smashing party to hell and back. I'll pick this up, should pick up wolfenstian also but I just cannot get enough of Hollow knight at the moment. I've put in over 100 hours!! its so cheap, so very very good and still has a hornet expansion coming along!!
I really like the idea of labo and my youngest keeps asking for it, but at the moment the software element seems underwhelming. Added to the fact that I live in central London and space is always at a premium so what do I do with all the big cardboard creations. With Japaneses homes tiny even by London standards I can't see this being a hit in the home market. If the software ever looks to reach even AA standard I would bite at least once.
I'll take quality over quantity any day. Already some great indies being overlooked. One solution would to bring back the seal of quality and only give it to certain games with their own section on the eshop.
I've got 55 hours into this already and still plenty to do! This is one of my favourite games on the switch and at just a nudge over £10 its an absolute steal!
Death squared is a really great party game. Its a shame to hear it sold so little. Its far better than sinperclips (which is its self ok) It was our holiday family game and we loved it although it does encourage frustration with each other as a party game should. I highly recommend it. And if you have not bought Hollow knight yet... WHY!
Indie titles can be great, Hollow Knight!! but it sounds like it may be time to bring back the seal of quality. I very much doubt there are more than one or two quality drops a week.
@Damo I still remember blubbering when we lost and I was a very lot older than 10, This time I'm so old my wife is concerned I'll have a heart attack before the games even start!!
wow, now this is great news! Fortnite was a great arrival for my kids but War Frame is for me. This game is so fair with its costs and monetisation that I dropped a bunch of money on credits just so I could support the dev team.
I'm already 30 hours in and hardly feel like I've scratched the surface with this game. I can easily see myself putting in over a 100 hours to 100% this game and there is still another large free dlc drop promised. This has to be my game of 2018 so far. I'm very glad I held off playing on PC and waited for the switch drop although I might just buy the Steam version on top of hopefully getting my hands on a physical copy when released just to give some love back the Dev team
For all those waiting for a physical release this game is such good value it is one I would not give a second thought to double dipping, It maybe the only game I have on the switch which I would. I almost feel bad by how little it cost like I did not pay a far price for it. If it does get a physical I would not open my copy. I think this is a game that will become a proper collectable in the future.
I'm a bit old for the twitch response needed for some of the platforming but I'm 25 hours played and still enjoying it. I was half way through god of war and have not touched it since I started playing Hollow Knight. It a fantastic game and currently a switch console exclusive.
Do you self a favour, and save some money by buying Hollow Night. It will keep you playing and enjoying it far longer than most of the sale titles. its a 10/10 for me.
I just bought Hollow Knight but beyond that I think my switch will go back into the draw. That and Thimbleweed park are the only games I bought this year and I don't see anything in the pipe line for me. I got a few hundred hours play out of switch so not to bothered but once one of the kids losses theirs, which is bound to happen, I'll pass mine on. This is why the stock price has dropped, the games are simply not there
I'd like to buy just the tablet. I already have 4 spare joycons and one spare dock and usb-c chargers are all over the house. But now my wife wants a switch (will be 4th in the home) Don't think that will be an option for some time though as Nintendo has no need to take the price hit at the moment.
EA is going to need it. Most their income is from the sports licences and after spending the year going on about how low the cost is to EA for the likes of FIFA ultimate team the leagues have all sat up and taken notice. I know first hand that discussion is happening in the premier league about how to take most of that cake. The current ideas include 80/20 EPL/EA income split every time a EPL player is used in any other team than their contracted to in game.
I can see why Nintendo don't want to leave $100 million a year on the table unclaimed but its not really offering much in return, at least not for me. Not going to sell my switch over it but i don't think I'll pick up any more multiplayer only games on it.
I played 200 hours of skyrim on ps3, I have another 200 on switch and lots still to do, I have Doom on the ps4 but only played about 3 hours. Don't have the time but on switch i'm 30 hours in (I'm cleaning up 100% as I go and I'm old! I die a LOT!) So i never looked at WNC on ps4 XboX just don't have the time anymore. But I'll pick it up on switch. Portable is just a game changer for me. Never played portable before but I get why it rules in Japan with the long work hours there.
From my understanding ( I design a small subset of functionality for ARM reference modeling for a living) your not going to have an issue with a USB type C charger doing any damage as long as the charger is complaint AND you are not using the output switching at the same time. IE output to TV. It does not matter if the output is active or not. So chargers should be fine but docks are a risk.
