Re: Ubisoft Will Announce More Nintendo Switch Titles "Quite Soon"

TooBarFoo

Southpark and southpark.. I'd be happy with that. I have to many games on my to play list at the moment as it is for anything more and with a time hog like splatoon2 here in a few days it does not look like that will change. What happened to quiet summer schedules, This is when I catch up with game releases, this year the backlog is growing and I am getting more gaming time than ever before with the switch!

Re: HyperX Announces Smash Bros., ARMS And Street Fighter eSports Event

TooBarFoo

To be a staple Nintendo will need to get the balancing right. With so many different arms combinations that could be tricky, but with the spectator mode and solid local play Arms has a good shout for a least some e-sport success. For me personally and maybe to improve its e-sport chances I just wish they would enable the right thumb stick to control the right arm. That would put motion and controller support on a even standing

Re: Deals: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For July And August

TooBarFoo

For prime customers look out for the game discounts codes they have then often. I pre-ordered a load of games in sets of 3 when they still have the holding price of £59.99. For orders over £170 they have a £40 discount code and also give £2 per game prime pre-order discount. when the prices are reduced at release you pay the reduced price but still get the full discount. so for Arms, splatoon 2 and mario odyssey it has ended up at £36 each. They tend to have the game codes 4 times a year or so

Re: Nintendo Switch Online App to Bring Voice Chat and SplatNet 2 to Splatoon 2 Launch

TooBarFoo

@concra Separating the chat and matchmaking to the phone will make no difference as far as bandwidth usage is concerned. In theory it will help improve contention within the network stack on the console by giving game stream a free run, a bit like when you sometimes need to turn off video to improve sound on a skype call. But in practice I see no technical advantage given modern hardware and methodologies.

Re: Amazon UK Reduces SNES Mini Orders to One Per Customer

TooBarFoo

@GravyThief I worked as a system architect for a payment handling service. Both billing and delivery require bank approval on authorization. Sorry, I'm not trying to put a damper on things but you could be shouting at someone who's hands are completely tied in the matter.

Re: Hardware Review: SFANS Adapter For Switch: The World's First Truly Portable Dock

TooBarFoo

The issue with a portable dock is the need to carry a power adapter around as well and I have enough of those in my bag already, my usb c phone adapter will not power the switch in docked mode, I've tried. I'd be happy with the current dock if only they would sort out the price. If you buy a dock, Joycon pair and power supply separate at the moment its only £100 pound more to add in the full switch bundle!

Re: First Impressions: Kicking Off With FIFA 18 on the Nintendo Switch

TooBarFoo

@MaSSiVeRiCaN I have a ps4 pro and as I have two young sons FIFA is a must buy every year but I will be getting the switch version this year. One of the main reasons is that I always end up having to get both the PS4 and the IOS version as the kids want it on the go. Getting both in one package is a great result

Re: ARMS and Nintendo Switch Keep a Grip on the Japanese Charts

TooBarFoo

I don't get the cost issue with Arms. I paid £38 from amazon with prime and one of those £5 discount codes they had. Granted that's a good price but I've played 30 hours so far and will add a lot more. My kids have also 10+ hours logged on each of their accounts. It would cost the same for the 3 of us to see a movie with drinks and popcorn, and that would be done in a couple of hours. Gaming is great value for money in general.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Surge Past A Million In Japan

TooBarFoo

@alasdair91 Amazon.co.uk does not have them in stock unless you are willing to pay an extra 30% to a scalper. I rang around half of London last week looking for another one for my son, most places laughed when I ask if they had in stock, telling me they last 2 hours max. I even tried Iceland but they only had frozen fish fingers

Re: EA is Focused on Nintendo Switch Portability and "Exploring Other Products"

TooBarFoo

This is one example of where I will forgo the ps4 version and get for the switch. Getting both home and portable versions in one sale will save me money as I usually get the ps and ios versions. I have a house full of boys! And with both using the same mechanics I have a very slight outside chance of beating my boys at least a few times if I practice on the quite

Re: FUZE Code Studio for Switch To Nurture Next Wave Of Bedroom Coders

TooBarFoo

@ledreppe don't get me wrong, any intro is better than nothing and of course you get more to show for little effort. But with so many high level true languages out there and things like the raspberry pi sensor kit to play with there are much better routes. My 10 year old has built and programmed a movement sensor that reset the colour of his smart build when he turns on his light to tell him how many people have been in his room since he left without any aid from myself. If you look at things like the coding club set of books kids don't need dumbed-down stuff. Great move to get your niece into coding but would this be the route you would take for your own kids?

Re: FUZE Code Studio for Switch To Nurture Next Wave Of Bedroom Coders

TooBarFoo

Kids should be learning to code in python, raspberry pi is perfect for it and can cost as little as £10. These pseudo languages are a mixed bag. Same as we now understand we should not teach babies baby speak but proper english/fill in your native language, same goes for coding. My 5 year old even copes well enough with python

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?

TooBarFoo

@NintySnesMan According to last July Sony investor briefing there are just north of 300,000 active PSN subscriptions in Japan across PS3, PS4 and PSP/Vita. I do not think they will buy 3 copies each. And as I said the silence in PS press and forums is deafening. I don't see the last gen graphics and story light igniting western PS4 or Xbox sales. It may just be the fact that I am traditionally a PlayStation player and its been 20 years since I had heard of MH that it seems that way but time will tell. I see 1 Million global tops

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?

TooBarFoo

@NintySnesMan Top selling PS4 games in Japan only sell in the thousands, As MH is seen as a social game it is unlikely to make much of a dent moving the few million players over from the handheld version. They would need to sell something close to 1.5 copies for every ps4 ever sold in Japan to reach the penetration of the handheld version. This is a play to try and expand the reach of MH to a global audience.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?

TooBarFoo

I think capcom made a big mistake not having MH-W on the switch. I have not heard one PS4 player give it even a passing mention and it is getting no excitement on any the ps4 forums. In fact the only place I am hearing any mention of it is in the Nintendo space. As this is a west only release it would seem, even if a deal was made to keep it off the switch, it would still be a very poor call if the game does not move copies.

The main reason i picked up a switch was to play Zelda and Skyrim(again), I have 9 games on my switch now and pre-orders for splatoon2 and Mario. Will also get FIFA and rocket league this year. So all told that's not a bad year one collection.

Does not look to be much coming to the PS4 over the next few months so may finally have so time to get though some of my game backlog although Star wars battle front is a day one with split screen to play with my sons.

It is what happens next year that will decide if the switch is a long term success for me. By that point I will have gotten my moneys worth already but is multiplats like me stop buying games it could end up the Wii for Nintendo, Great sales but rapid falling attach rates which is what Nintendo relies on make money. E3 showed me nothing I would be interested in 2018.. Hope we get a bayonetta 1/2 port in 2018

Re: Ubisoft's Starlink: Battle For Atlas Isn't Just For Kids, You Know

TooBarFoo

I though this was more of a adult take on the toys to life, more a collectible to life as us grown ups like to call our toys I am a bit disappointed to hear the original target age was so young. Even if that ups slightly if they are still targeting the very young player along side a higher age it will not have the depth I had hoped for. For me the switch is great for those long play time hogs of a game I simply do not have the pure sit at screen time for. Going forward my ps4 pro will be choice for the very few high visual mid length cinematics. Time will limit that to 3 or tops 4 a year. Anything beyond that will be need to be offered and compelling on the switch as the switch just extends my available game time so so much. This does not look to be in the first category so we will have to see how engrossing this looks as it develops.

Re: Review: ARMS (Switch)

TooBarFoo

so just finished 3 1/2 hours of local 2 player rotating between me and my two sons, I dominated for the first hour, then my 9 year old started kicking my behind, an hour later my 5 year old joined him. All great fun even if my dignity has been left of the floor. Also got the yellow joycons which look great and rotate well with the red and blue for a multitude of different looks.

Re: Rocket League Is Coming To Switch With Cross-Network Play And Exclusive Content

TooBarFoo

This is a pick up and play for 20 minutes or stay for 3 hours game and is just the sort of thing I no longer have the time for on the PS4 any more. But will be great on the switch, play in handheld drop in dock when it sucks you in (and it tends to do that) I got this for free first time from PSN so happy to buy this and hope to get back into it. It's a great addition to the line-up

Re: Sony Thinks You'll Buy A PlayStation 4 Alongside Your Nintendo Switch

TooBarFoo

i have PS4 for their exclusives, soulsbourne, horizon, uncharted, nier, and soon TLOU 2. So also covers my multi platform and where I play online. My PC is now unused for gaming and XBone has no exclusives worth having for me. Switch will effect game sales though as I would be more tempted in the future to pick up multi platform on the switch for portability
