Re: Feature: Why Pokémon: Let's Go Is The Perfect Entry Point For Pokémon GO Players

@chardir "Is it just me or do those joycon colours look like they're supposed to be yellow but one is badly discoloured?"

I assume you mean the left joycon attached to the switch? I agree, the colours are a bit crazy. The yellow and brown is supposed to represent pikachu, the brown being his/her brown stripes I guess, but I would have thought red to represent his/her cheek patches would have been a much more attractive colour combination. Even just both yellow would be more appealing to me.

Re: Epic Games Responds To Fans' Pleas To Improve Fortnite On Switch With New Patch

I had taken a break after burning out playing it daily for three months. Coming back to it now is hugely disappointing. They really need to sort out the frequency of their updates as this must be what is breaking the game so often. The texture loading problem is present in every game (I have 40mbps internet so the problem isn't at my end) Every time they update with new modes and weapons, something else breaks. Sort it out, Epic. I know it's free to play but this is just shoddy.

Re: Telltale's The Walking Dead Seasons 1, 2 And 3 Are All Coming To Switch This Year

Great news. I was holding off on trying the final season as I wanted to play this from the start after hearing great things about its storytelling. I'll be grabbing the first season as soon as it releases. As a fan of the comics, I feel the tv series has completely squandered its potential. I enjoyed the first three seasons but I feel it could have been a lot better. The last three seasons have been pretty painful but I still keep coming back for more. I say at the end of every season "I'm done with this poxy show!" but as soon as the next season rolls around I keep hoping they'll turn it around. I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship sometimes! 😵

@Heavyarms55 I'm sure your room mate must have aced his exams! 😄
I had a similar situation in college but it was the whole floor of our dorms was obsessed with Counter Strike. I played the odd time but there was a group of around 8 who used to leave all their doors open and be roaring instructions/expletives at each other down the hall as they were playing. It was pretty funny, but also annoying when I was trying to study.

Re: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Is Getting A Free Demo On Switch Tomorrow

@TeslaChippie I see where you're coming from. I also think we should expect much better from a non-port, built from scratch Monster Hunter on Switch. Other devs have proven how visually adept Switch can be. Capcom was clearly preoccupied with expanding its audience with World and if Generations Ultimate sells well on Switch maybe we'll see the next instalment as fully cross-platform (not that I expect Sony to play nice on cross-play!)

@TeslaChippie I watched that Digital Foundry video and I concede, it does look pretty good. Maybe it was a combination of the jagged insect gear the character is wearing here or the snowy landscape making the environmental geometry look super basic but the Digital Foundry video has given me hope. I do think we can hope for much better graphics if Capcom build the next MH on Switch from the ground up. But either way, thanks for changing my mind. I'll give the demo a proper look.

Big Monster Hunter fan and not a graphics whore but.....why does this have to be so darn ugly? It's jagged and really really awful to look at. I don't think I could sit for hours on end looking at such an eyesore. Tri on Wii looked FAR better than this and I sunk 240 hours into that game. From the animation to the character design to the music, everything in Tri was just dripping with quality and you could really sense the enthusiasm of the team behind it. This....just looks like a lazy port to me. Did they do any anti-aliasing at all or literally just slap a 3DS game on a Switch cartridge and call it a day?

Re: Hollow Knight Sold Over A Quarter Of A Million Copies On Switch In Two Weeks

The_Mysteron

@Nincompoop Being a coder, I must admit you make a valid point about devs becoming lazier when it comes to using only high level languages. The analogy I would make would be a mechanic who only knows how to change the oil and tyres but can't fix the car. So I get what you are saying about these tools making devs 'lazier and dumber'. But I also know that games like Hollow Knight only exist because of Unity. Maybe I jumped in because I've heard a lot of disparaging of Unity - coder snobbery if you will - and I personally think it has added more to the industry than it has taken away. If a small team on a tight budget can concentrate on gameplay and art and not have to worry about getting an engine together, surely that's better for games, especially in a time where original ideas are in very short supply.

@Nincompoop "If we don't reinvent the wheel, all the cars will be using stone-wheels. Do you think using cavemen technology is cool?"

It's a figure of speech. Also, you can hardly equate Unity with caveman technology. Unity itself is constantly evolving. My point is that this game and others like it exist because of tools like Unity. How many 3rd parties use Unreal engine? Are you suggesting they would be able to make better games if they built their own engine?
