Actually, the argument that 3 lives is a holdover from arcades makes sense, until you go play Mario Kart GP in the arcade, like I did recently, and despite placing 1st two races in a row I still saw the Game Over screen. Where's the logic in that?
@justin233 I'd have to disagree on the value for money argument when it came to spending €20 on Steamworld Heist. I have played that game for over 150 hours on multiple playthroughs. You know that most of the levels are randomly generated right? Heist has almost limitless replay value.
I use Splatnet 2 every day to check stats and buy gear. I can't see me using voice chat too much. It was something I never really got the appeal of. Too many toxic people out there to make it worthwhile. Voice chat has hindered my experience more than enhanced it.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The battery life is not an issue at all. I have never once drained the battery on mine and I play it handheld 50% of the time. If you're playing games for 4-6 hours in one sitting, that's the issue not the battery.
I agree that a lot of the big games are ports but you have to understand that nearly nobody (except you and I and a few others on here) bought a WiiU, so the ports are brand new games to the average person. I think it's the best hardware they've ever created (owned every single one bar Virtual Boy)
To call it underpowered is nonsense. It's the most accomplished handheld ever made AND it docks to your TV in 5 seconds. A little perspective please.
@SetupDisk I was never a big Sonic fan before playing Mania but I'm absolutely loving it. It just puts a smile on my face every time I boot up my Switch.
@JaxonH It does make a huge difference when you have to slide quickly between the different directions on the D pad. If the buttons are seperated then the edges of the buttons cause pain on your thumb over long periods. The reason other manufacturers don't use cross shaped D pads is because Nintendo own the patent.
Pre-ordering my Switch today. I held off because I could play Breath of The wild on my WiiU, but I just can't resist any longer. Sold my WiiU with 40 games to a very happy collector (instead of trading in to Gamestop) and will reserve my Splatoon bundle today. It such a huge leap technologically from the WiiU.
Hahaha! The mere thought of Shakin' Stevens makes me laugh. What a legend. If you watch his videos, he looks genuinely surprised by his own success. https://youtu.be/ZeyHl1tQeaQ
The gesture signifies sticking one's entire forearm and fist up someone's rectum. It's pretty gross when you look at it that way (the other arm symbolises the depth that the fisting arm is going) I'm surprised it made it into the game at all tbh.
@Baker1000 The good thing about food such as baked apples and particularly icy meat is that they don't take up as much inventory space (you could have 100+ seared steaks taking up one inventory slot) so food items like that are useful.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE @faint @bolt05 Anyone who is accusing SLIGEACH_EIRE of being a troll should maybe have look at how many articles on this site are attributed to his tips. He's probably one of the most actively contributing users of this site but some people take his criticism of Nintendo's sometimes questionable policies as trolling. I'm the biggest Nintendo fan I know, but Nintendo fanboys do my head in sometimes.
I succeeded on my third attempt. The Hinox is the hardest to beat, but if you can sneak to the top of the island and rain bombs on the gang of moblins below, their weapons make the Hinox much easier to beat.
Nice work. Looks very realistic. The only problem is that the unit is seen sliding in from the bottom up, but all the connectors are on the bottom of the console so that wouldn't work. Plus, the risk of the console slipping out and hitting the deck would make me very nervous. I do think that those who mentioned screen resolution might be on the money.
The launch line up is really, really poor. I'm the biggest Nintendo fanboy I know, and even I will not be buying a Switch at launch. There will only be 5 games on launch day, as far as I can see, and some of those are re-hashed games which you can get on Wii-U. What happened to 'we've learned from our past mistakes and want to have a strong software library at launch', eh Nintendo? I'll stick with my WiiU and 3DS until some NEW EXPERIENCES come to the console. Have they forgotten that games sell consoles?
I have huge affection for my WiiU. It has given me more amazing gaming experiences than I care to remember, but Nintendo really dropped the ball with nearly every other aspect: terrible name, not enough games at launch, no third party support, high price, confusing marketing, the list goes on and on. However, for me, a console is judged on its games and controller, and on this front they excelled themselves, even more than usual.
Can everybody calm down, please? Super Mario 3D World was 1.6 gigabytes. If file size equated the gameplay, people wouldn't still be playing the original Donkey Kong

Re: Rogue Trooper Redux to Arrive on Switch Alongside Other Console Versions
@Kalmaro I thought the same before I bought it on Wii a few years back, but it's really good. Very solid gameplay and a decent story too.

As much as I'll miss the old 1-Up shroom, the idea of 'lives' is so 1980's

Re: Review: SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch eShop)

@Zoda_Fett That's my next purchase I think. Bought the Splatoon 2 bundle but the joycon split dpad just doesn't cut it.
Re: Snakebyte Announces The Wireless Game:Pad Pro For Switch
@JaxonH Split D-pads are useless.
