@MARATXXX Mario Kart is one of those evergreen titles that will continue to sell for the entire console lifespan. Smash, I think, won't catch it. It's big, but it's not Mario Kart big.
@Kalmaro "I don't trust reviewers. I still remember what they said about Captain Marvel."
I enjoyed Captain Marvel, but Black Panther? Gosh that was corny. Possibly the worst film in the MCU but it seemed to have such goodwill behind it. Possibly because of how African Americans are treated in America it was seen as a celebration of African culture, which is cool and needed. But as a movie? I thought it stank. Detective Pikachu looks good from what I've seen. I'm optimistic about it, regardless of what the famous talking heads are saying about it.
@MrBlacky "This is an empty, generic landscape, where Kirby is running and flying (with very odd animations) around. Where exactly is this "gorgeous"? 🤔"
Agree 100%. This looks like an ugly tech demo to me. It has absolutely no character at all. Sort of reminds me of the Unreal Engine remakes of Ocarina Of Time - it's like someone upped the polygon count and lighting detail but simultaneously sucked all of the life and soul out of the original.
I want an Ultra Switch with higher res/refresh screen for VR, better processor and better battery in the same form factor. A Switch lite wouldn't be for me, especially if they made the joycon stuck to the console and the screen smaller.
I'm really enjoying this game. It's not just hard for the sake of hard and you definitely learn through repetition and deaths...lots and lots of deaths.
More control options are definitely a good thing. It's also great to hear that there will be analog acceleration and braking. Nintendo consoles (bar Gamecube) have been sorely lacking in that department. This is looking more and more like a day one purchase for me.
If this is indicative of the future sales of Labo VR, I really hope it doesn't put Nintendo off developing a more meaty VR offering. It's an exciting field, currently hamstrung by a lack of good ideas. If anyone can make VR accessible and fun it will be Nintendo.
It's my belief that if Labo VR succeeds, we could very well see a Switch pro with improved specs for VR and a dedicated non-cardboard headset. I'm totally intrigued by Labo VR and although the variety kit lost its appeal after a few weeks, my kids and I still had a lot of fun building the kits.
Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the xray/kill-cam effects? I like sniping but I have to say, after seeking enough blood in real life that level of viscera and violence in a game is a turn off for me.
@DavidMac "If Jane is another character I’m really hoping she’s from another series. It would be super weird for Persona to get TWO slots on the DLC"
It may be that Jane is just an alternate costume/colour for Joker and not a separate slot, like the male and female variants of Corrin or Robin in Smash Ultimate.
@Heavyarms55 I agree with what you are saying about artificial difficulty, but you cannot say that Mega Man, Shinobi, Outrun, Punch Out and other challenging games of the 8 and 16 Bit generations are difficult due to poor design. The reduction in difficulty has been a measurable and conscious effort on the part of developers to ensure that the player gets to see all or most of the content they have created. I enjoy gaming of all flavours now and appreciate the more forgiving tendencies of modern games. I think it has been part of the broadening appeal of gaming which is good for all of us. When a game is difficult these days it is the exception, not the rule. Back when I started this obsession in 1985, Ghouls and Ghosts and Mega Man were my bread and butter. Going back to games from that era now is a humbling experience. To use the common parlance, it makes me want to 'Git Gud' again. 😁
@Heavyarms55 "I've heard this game is BRUTALLY HARD and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little intimidated."
In my experience, this generation's 'brutally hard' is a retro game's standard difficulty. I may be proven wrong on Cuphead because I haven't played it yet, but I find most modern games to be very low on challenge (and I think that's mostly a good thing) I love a challenge, but I also love relaxing games too. Most of the games I played as a kid were designed by masochists. 😁
I'm not a huge fan of the game - it feels too much like wasting time for the sake of it - but I really love the Animal Crossing community. They're so passionate and in my experience all nice people.
@KingBowser86 LOL. I'm not trolling you, or feeling victimized. I'm just pointing out that you are stereotyping our nation as a bunch of drunks. There are a lot of Irish people who don't drink, just like there are a lot of Americans who don't like guns. St. Patrick's Day is not about alcohol for a large amount of people. The holiday has unfortunately become an excuse for many to drink themselves into oblivion, and that's sad to me as an Irish man who chooses not to drink. If you're thinking I'm triggered or a pansy for finding your comment ignorant, that's fine. You have a right to say things that offend other people, and I have a right to call you out on it.
This looks pants. The way she wields that bfg makes it look like styrofoam. They couldn't have put a little weight in it? Also, it seems like all the sets are in one big corridor with the barrels moved about. Lame.
@BAN "Haha! That’s even better than the time I went to Mexico and there was a guy in a very wrong-looking “Bob Esponja” selling Viking helmets on the beach."
You've reminded me of my one night in Tijuana. I woke up the next morning with a whopper tequila hangover and saw a zebra across the street. Just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, I crossed the street and saw that it was actually a donkey painted with black and white stripes. Its owner was charging 100 pesos (which I think is around 5 dollars) to let you take a picture with it.
I would be all over a hardware revision. I love my switch, but there is definitely room for improvement. I'd love to see a pro model with better specs, optional dpad joycons, a more portable dock, a thinner screen bezel and a TB of storage. Then I could pass the 'vanilla' one on to my grubby-fingered kids. 😁
@TheFongz He's the man behind Devil May Cry, Okami, Resident Evil 2, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta & Viewtiful Joe. In short, he knows better than anyone how to create a character that is fun to control and smashes enemies skybound in increasingly spectacular ways. A safe pair of hands to supervise a game like this.
@Grumblevolcano I get what you're saying, but there is nothing 2D about A Link Between Worlds. It's fully rendered in 3D and the camera angle isn't even fixed in an isometric view. It's not a 2D Zelda in my opinion.
