A Splatoon themed controller with no gyro!? That would be so frustrating for me. Love me a bit of gyro aiming. They look like lovely controllers all the same.
@Shiryu I was intrigued from the off. I'd never heard of this game before today, but your glowing praise of it has me positively excited. Do you know if it has similar trading/economy features as Elite, or is it more about space battles?
@Steven_the_2nd "I already have a dpad thanks to those 3 party shells. It works EXTREMELY well. Feels just like a normal dpad"

Titular....Proverbial....This scribe.....
It drives me insane! 😵
They're taking the proverbial piss and ruining this scribe's titular Nintendo Life! Gaaahhh!
Heeeelloooo there lovely peeeeeople!
Never played any Diablo games, so this has my interest piqued. These days it's turning into a positive to be an insular Nintendo gamer like myself, cos all these ports are brand new to me! 😄
This doesn't look like my kind of thing (walking simulator!?) but it's good to see 3rd parties bringing a bit of variety to Switch. Seems like a good port too.
@Sentinator "Nintendo is missing out on a big opportunity by ignoring the desire for a more compact Switch"
Be careful what you wish for. A smaller Switch would mean a smaller screen, or a slimmer bezel around the screen, both of which would be undesirable for a lot of people, myself included. I would struggle to play a lot of Switch's best games on a smaller screen, and a slimmer bezel would harm its durability. My kids have dropped the Switch from a height multiple times and it hasn't broken. That trumps slightly better portability in my eyes.
17 million sold in a year. Wow. Far from the dark days of WiiU. I loved my WiiU but man, it was hard to defend it. It looked like a cheap toy from the early 2000s, it didn't have any 3rd party support after year one and Nintendo dropped it like a bag of steaming poop once it wasn't doing the numbers. Shame really. It had some great games.
@nayfz "Apart from both having a button that accelerates and another button that brakes, what else do Mario Kart and Burnout Paradise have in common? Really? They're completely different driving games, hardly imitations."
You, like, steer with the sticks too. Totally the same. Plagiarism! /s
@electrolite77 "I'll take pixels over warping, primitive polygons any day of the week. PS1 games look dreadful these days. It's not the 1990s anymore, we've figured out that 3D doesn't always make games look better."
Truth! PS1 and N64 graphics, by and large, have aged horribly. Pixel art has a much more timeless appeal and I personally hope it never goes away.
@Agramonte "There is never been a technical limitations in oil painting - and you think we still using the garbage oil paint from back in the day? Waiting for it to dry in a year"
Thanks for proving my point for me again. The pixel art we see today is a massive step up in clarity and resolution from what we had in the past. Developers aren't using "the same garbage from back in the day" If you think Owlboy looks the same as an 8bit or even 16bit game, then there's no point even having this debate with you.
@Agramonte "This was not born as an artstyle - it was from a technical limitation. In belongs in tech history books (or nostalgia inducing icons)"
By that logic, artists today should stop painting with oil paints, should they? Only digital painting using a stylus and tablet should be done these days because of technological advances? Absolutely ridiculous argument. The fact is, many many people, myself included, love the look of pixel art. It is as valid a form of expression as polygons, bump maps and HDR lighting. If people didn't like pixel art, these games wouldn't sell and wouldn't continue to be made. Don't confuse your own tastes with facts.
@Agramonte "My icon is not PixelArt. Check out Pac Man Championship DX+"
Pac Man Championship DX, a game which wouldn't exist had it not been for pixels. I think you're cutting off your nose to spite your face by overlooking games because they are rendered using pixels.
@LUIGITORNADO "Wave Race? Wasted on Retro's talent? Ick. Go play it on 64. Some franchises need to stay dead."
There's no need to be rude and there's no accounting for people's taste. I adore the Wave Race series. I'll admit that Wave Race 64 hasn't aged well (the same can be said for many 64 era titles) but Blue Storm on the GameCube was incredible and still looks and plays beautifully to this day. I'd love to see Wave Race on Switch.
I'm playing through BOTW again (had it on WiiU and held off getting it for Switch)
Daruk and Urbosa's voices are the only ones I like. Zelda and Mipha just come across as wingey and annoying. I understand why voice acting is deemed necessary, but I really loved the reading element of previous Zelda games. Makes you more invested somehow.
It says here that the demo appeared to be running at 1080p at 60fps, but in Alex's video he said it was just under 900p and 30fps. I wonder which it is?
I would never put a gherkin in my burger, and yet I wouldn't take it out if it was in there. I'm kind of gherkin agnostic, I guess. If I had to pick a side, it would be.....fries.
@c2017nlifemedia 'you'll just be paying to do what has always been and should be 100% gratis: using your own internet connection for p2p multiplayer.' Uummm. There's a little more to online multiplayer than that...
128GB Samsung Micro SD Card for forty bucks! It delivered in 5 days and works an absolute dream. They were actually selling them for €33 last week, so the price seems to be fluctuating a bit, but either way that is cheap as chips!
