I've gone through some Freedom Planet on PC (got in on the Kickstarter, and picked up the OST for a pittance on the Steam sale...multiple times, as gifts too), but if my "budget" allows, I may well get it again. My laptop's not the best for simulating a console, so just whipping out the gamepad would be aces.
All the others are new to me, though (even though I think I have Lovely Planet on PC), so I have some trials to traverse.
Bogus! I was so excite, too... Wanted to get my fix of that music from the announcement trailer while splattin'. At least now I know why Callie & Marie didn't say anything about it when booting up another user profile.
Nabbed Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (would like to get more, but I'm tight until payday...the eve of the 23rd), and what little I've got into it (again?), it's got excellent charm, but ball-blasting minigames. Wanna get EarthBound Beginnings, too, but as a Famicom/NES title, why's it not on 3DS eShop too? I'd think maybe a wait until cross-buy is native, but nothing (so far?) about Nintendo's "unified" system at E3.
A world-building middling entry to the Prime series? Okay, I'll buy it. ...Well, not "buy", 'cause I'm poop at shootan thuh gunz, but let's put it this way: I was sad Kingdom Hearts Days & Re:coded weren't playable in the HD ReMIXes.
Isabelle, Totakeke, -and- Nook as amiibo? I'm game. But...Mable? Or rather, -just- Mable? I'm a Sable kinda guy, personally... But then, I'd also be lined up to buy a Shrunk figure. shuffles
UGH, why did you have to say "Elite Beat Agents" to me? It somehow managed to fade from my conscious mind, but YES YES YES, I need this. Imagine this biz on 3DS (or, heck, as a cross-platform title under their new unified network thing), with DLC to keep the kicks comin'. OH BABY.
My friend called me this morning, asking about Splatoon, and after mentioning the memes, he suggested Squidward DLC, and I suggested Squid Girl. So pumped this's real! So, Nickelodeon, there's this one game here...
Nintendo Video got the Shins a sale from enamoring me to "The Rifle's Spiral". I like the shuffling of content, though once they started with the Frederator stuff, I was bummed there was so little 3D content. Still, got myself those standalone downloads of videos (Kirby, Meat or Die, ...something else?) from the Nintendo Video sweepstakes.
Got to mid-50s is the comments, so to that all, I'll say I agree voice chat should exist for Friends, and I wouldn't mind it just being in the lobby, as with Mario Kart 8. You can confirm each other's weapons and assign roles beforehand, then the fast-paced, minutes-long match goes on silent auto-pilot. Knowing what to expect outta your teammates may be all you need, going in, compared to strangers just going out on their own, like in my "experience" (and practice). EDIT: Combine that with the scripted shouts (someone mentioned MH4U), and you can resolve a situation quickly without a bunch of jumbled, mingling blithering.
As for Splatoon features? Liked the suggestion for pre-set loadouts in the lobby to choose from, this from someone who just Rollers with things.
I keep seeing folks here attest to the cross-buy promo of OlliOlli working with these codes, but I didn't see anything in my receipt(s) to that end. Remindeds me of my...misguided Ultimate NES Remix redemption from Club Nintendo, for which the "free theme" is only if you buy it from the eShop.
@Hitokage No, I just usually keep a game, often StreetPass Mii Plaza, running in the background, but to update the system, you have to close running software, and after the update the system restarts. All of which, under other circumstances, sounds like the most unstable tech around.
I'd like to say my 3DS is more stable, but I had to exit out of my game and my system restarted from it all! Flashbacks to my iDevice crashing, right there...
While I did get the whole $10 package, I dumped it all into the charity. So far, it's Guacamelee I've sunk the most time into, though I already had Mighty Switch Force!. Dunno how to feel...
If there's any mumblings of what might could be included in this week's BTA unlocks, might I point out there's a "Game You Should Be Playing" section in the American eShops, whose header images are emblazoned with "Nindie" and a lineup of the current games' characters.
Aside from those, the Wii U's section lists: Sportsball, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Mighty Switch Force!Hyper Drive Edition, Mighty Switch Force! 2, Ultratron, Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut, Thomas Was Alone, and Mutant Mudds Deluxe.
On the 3DS side, included are: Retro City Rampage: DX, Mighty Switch Force! 2, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Titan Attacks!, Xeodrifter, Mutant Mudds Deluxe, ATV Wild Ride 3D, and Bomb Monkey.
And no doubt, I had been through off by seeing "Fighting Fantasy" in digital storefronts. Now, to have fun with this "any word starting in 'F'," business...~
Haven't read all the comments, but I think @MoldyClay87 hits it well on why digital is iffy beyond games' content: You're buying a license that, until Nintendo's new accounts come through, is bound to that one machine. No passing it around with family or friends, no useful backups, no selling it off later, so unless you know what you're getting in for, it's a blind commitment, not just of the game but your access to it.
But then, this is coming from someone with a 2K+ Steam games count from indie bundles.
@GetClose Sure does! Not sure how you'd even figure how to do two players on one Wiimote...or even one player...Nunchuk? Ah, but that's irrelevant, so long as I can use the Zs I have!
@GetClose Ah, now seeing your icon reminds me! I've eyed GetClose before, so count me as sold! <heads to Game Pad>
EDIT: Tried out some single-player on the Game Pad. Not bad, though I've little grasp on it from a couple plays. Seeing the 3-4 player controls, I wonder: Can a Wii Controller [Pro] work, too? I mean, I'll try myself later, but on the chance it doesn't, might that be for a later update?
3DS Game Card Case: 2015 Edition: 400/300 coins / 3DS XL Pouch: The Legend of Zelda: 600/300 coins / Fierce Deity Link Jigsaw Puzzle: 800/400 coins
...So I could have had 800 coins to work with, had I held off on the above. Enough to have now got: 2016 Desktop Calendar: 400/300 coins / The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D Messenger Bag: 800/500 coins
Yeah, count me salty.
At least I got my Animal Crossing playing cards, something I definitely wanted (somehow started collecting those...), along with the complementary SSB posters (which we still need to hang up).
Nintendo needs to continue getting old VC games onto the eShop if only because **** "Nintendo Points".
<sees Chrono Trigger> Man, I'd be fine if they hold off on getting that on eShop's VC if only to release Chrono Trigger DS. I'd say the same for the "Finest Fantasy for Advance" set, but only if they use the EU ROMs for FFIV/V/VI; in all cases, bugs were ironed out, but EU FFIVA runs entirely better than the boggy mess we got in the States, such that Japan saw a re-release with those fixes in place (plus, all three's English tracks are American-style, so no culture-shock on our end).
Glad GBA and SNES tracks have been recreated, because I tried Super Circuit again (Cheese this time), and I have no idea how anyone could make out where anything was on those tracks. Constantly getting turned around, bumping off of everything.
Totally used these codes (good heavens, that site's got the absolute worst ads I've ever seen; Nintendo Life and GameFAQs combined haven't encumbered me in all their years as much as this site did for ten minutes). I'd say the biggest advantages, at least for someone who was in the early teens levels, are store unlocks (namely the trees), getting another balloon, and that Hydreigon (wicked high attack, though its primary move has strange aiming, and secondary has charge-up). Most of the gift 'mon are in the middling 200s, and 30 Diamonds only gets one so far. However, the curve shot by the few high-levels (or is it character level that affects this?) does lead to higher-level wild toys, so it's quite a jump immediately after. Still, since this ain't multiplayer and there's so much more grinding to do even after this, it's ultimately harmless, how little mileage you get offa them.
For all the guffaws, I really did end up with a system freeze, in Pokeymenz Ruble Whorld, no less! Froze the game, Home button did naught, so a hard restart was needed.
Ironic, then, that I need more stability to get more wobblies.
EDIT: BulbasaurusRex proves why I shouldn't give up on reading comments halfway down.
Well, damn, I might actually be able to play something from this series now. Because like GTA and Mario platformers, I just do not catch on to these games.
Got a friend's account to Platinum, so used that to get Tropical Freeze digitally, trading in my physical copy from the last Black Friday deal at Best Buy to nab two sets of Mario Kart 8 DLC bundles (for our Wii U and his). Now to decide what I want from our Platinum, and while there are better deals price-wise, considering how infrequently I can get my folks to multiplayer, leaning toward Ultimate NES Remix.
Have New Leaf and the Wii-releases, and behind them would personally be Mario Kart 7 (first-person? on New 3DS?!), but it's on sale for $21 USD, so may as well go with said friend's offhand suggestion, right?
Speaking of those sales, might will prolly get Golden Sun again! (The Game Boy Player ain't hooked up in the living room, after all.)
EDIT: Hrm, seems I didn't get the Famicom 3DS theme, even though it's still offered in the splash image and game page in the eShop. Eh, I hafta call Ninty up anyways. Oh, and mentioned Golden Sun in part because, now I have to decide what to spend these dark 200 (well, 215...) coins on! If only I'd EarthBounded...
Need Nikki. Need more Nikki. Kinda bummed I all-out transferred her to Mii Maker and out of Mii Plaza, but then, how else could I put her in Tomodachi and Smash Bros.
I was psyched to see Isaac on this list; him or Felix, with the varied field psynergy available!
Didn't even consider Bayonetta, regrettably enough, though an Inkling was right on tip of mind, and Shantae via the Half-Genie Hero updates.
Others include Sora from Kingdom Hearts (in his KH1 incarnation, as has been seen in each of the four Nintendo handheld titles, perhaps with a COM-style Trinity Limit as a Final Smash, perhaps with an AOE affected by Super/Poison Mushrooms?), Roy and the Ice Climbers (hair color and "oh c'mon!", respectively), Patricia Wagon (unlike Shantae, the Mighty series has stayed Nintendo-exclusive barring the "Hose It Down!" spinoff), Blanc/White Heart from Neptunia (yeah, none of these games've been on Ninty systems, but she IS Ninty systems — namely the Wii, Famicom, and Wii U), Layle (player character of the only single-player Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles...with levitation powers!), Battletoads, and Simon $^#&ing Belmont (up there with Mario, Link, and Mega Man for NES classics; just...not in Judgment style).
Almost afraid to properly scour the rest of the poll and comments...
<notices Jarod's post made while typing own>
<immediately petitions for that Zero>
Oh yeah, and pitched in for an Eternal Darkness item or stage, just something to reintroduce the Sanity Meter.
Those shoulder fins on Samus brought my spirits up, that Ninty at least had the decency to not use the character's Other M incarnation when regarding women of prominence.
Yes, yes, this is all well and good, but I've just invested in a Wii U and New 3DS XL, so Ninty, please keep pushing those hard in the meantime. It feels way too early in at least the former's 'game', and I'd for one feel bummed to see it snuffed so soon.
From what of the game I've managed so far, the thing that's stuck with me most is how awesomely ridiculous the motorcycle is to use. Just wish I wasn't so prone to losing the thing.
Even though I hardly know any Dragon Quest music, this promotion of free DLC definitely ups the value by lowering the cost of all it'll have to offer (compared to TFFCC's massive a la carte).
Would like to see more TFF freebie promotions, like the two DLC tracks for a month after launch. Hell, why not just drop the original TFF DLC (sans maybe "Somnus"?) to free, since it's all included in Curtain Call anyway?
My personal 3DS I've completed or came within a handful of pieces about thrice before new panels came out. Currently two pinks off of SSB4's and 6 pink + some blues from Monster Hunter #2 (coulda finished the former, but figured other people might would too). Almost tempted to just secure the pink pieces, but then, there are two other 3DSes here and more opportunities for special Miis coming, so I'll just simmer. I am worried about the data being wiped from repairs, though: getting my sis's b/f's filled through ours, so it'd be a damn shame to see his wiped.
I'm not big into Dragon Quest, so the price point would have to be significantly lower, and I may still hold out for a Curtain Call. I am intrigued by the vertical gameplay, to its credit.
Should Theatrhythm Kingdom Hearts emerge, though... Done. It's already done, even if it never exists. But it must. My heart is already connected to it.
Would've liked to've gotten my hands on those, especially seeing the Fierce Deity puzzle in the last Club nintendo rewards. Like an art book you can't be tempted to pull the pages out from!
One of the things I love about a handheld is the crisp screens. While TV and computers these days have a ridiculously high density, there's still nothing like up-close seeing the dot-matrix. The one I've noticed the most has been my back-lit GBA SP. Plus, that proximity contributes to a physical closeness, that my gaming experience is entirely within my personal space "bubble". I guess what's detached me a bit has been a use of earphones, but that just trades one intimacy (proximity of speakers) or another (in-ear fusion (ha)).
Bought this used on eBay for around $90-$100 some year or two plus ago, coming with no (soon defunct) Club Nintendo code, but a large T-shirt, sealed player's guide, and (somewhat tape-laden) poster. I prefer to sell off physical copies when I go digital (save games which save progress on-media), but not sure I wanna part with mine now, considering what the disc would go for. I mean, it'd undoubtedly sell for more than the ten bucks I'll pay for no load times/sounds, but still... Prolly'll just hang onto it, maybe lend it to my friends.
I'd been contemplating the SMB/Zelda game case, and upon chancing this news I hoped to get one, but lo, all sold out, alongside the SMB/Pikmin case and the T-shirt. The cases are running $20+ on eBay, too...
Well, here's to hoping I get in on some physicals. A co-worker has that yellow-on-black SMB carrying pouch thing (sack?), though worn, but still neat-o. At the least, make Super Metroid the Wii U eShop version?
EDIT: Oh, could you imagine if that Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! tie-in game was available via coins? Physical rewards, you can find on auction sites, but download codes? A rare commodity, and a shortcoming of digital distribution when supply is suddenly cut off.
That was hilarious, even though it took forever to finish out. Perhaps the longevity is its own facet of the dumb brilliance... Cool how the Cap/Link duo tried to handle the Bob-ombs after a bum-rush failed them, but alas.
I doubt I'd ever care enough for a wins/loses ratio, and I'd prolly laugh the first few times someones pulled this off (and harder if it failed them, by us or their own), but then I'd start getting peeved in want of a rightful match.

Something frustrating to me is that each amiibo can only have saved to it data from one game. What makes Skylanders (and, I would suppose, Infinity) so cool is that the progress you've made in one game carries over to the next. That one figure is continuing its adventures.
<notices Jarod's post made while typing own>
<immediately petitions for that Zero>
Oh yeah, and pitched in for an Eternal Darkness item or stage, just something to reintroduce the Sanity Meter.
Re: Prepare Thyself, Azure Striker Gunvolt Will Be Hitting Europe And Australia Very Soon
Any word on if this release will reflect more the US/NA version or the Japanese one?
Re: Gallery: Nintendo Celebrates Women's History Month In Its Own Unique Way
Those shoulder fins on Samus brought my spirits up, that Ninty at least had the decency to not use the character's Other M incarnation when regarding women of prominence.
Re: Reaction: The Nintendo 'NX', and Why We Think a Unified Platform is the Future
Yes, yes, this is all well and good, but I've just invested in a Wii U and New 3DS XL, so Ninty, please keep pushing those hard in the meantime. It feels way too early in at least the former's 'game', and I'd for one feel bummed to see it snuffed so soon.
Re: Feature: Five Remastered Games We'd Love to Play on the New Nintendo 3DS and XL
If nothing else, I want to see Twilight Princess flipped back to its proper, GCN orientation.
But yeah, all this, and for The Last Story in particular its Nintendo Wi-Fi functionalities back in.
Re: Freedom Planet Bringing Its Brand of Sonic-Style Action to Wii U
From what of the game I've managed so far, the thing that's stuck with me most is how awesomely ridiculous the motorcycle is to use. Just wish I wasn't so prone to losing the thing.
Re: All Theatrhythm Dragon Quest DLC Set to be Free
Even though I hardly know any Dragon Quest music, this promotion of free DLC definitely ups the value by lowering the cost of all it'll have to offer (compared to TFFCC's massive a la carte).
Would like to see more TFF freebie promotions, like the two DLC tracks for a month after launch. Hell, why not just drop the original TFF DLC (sans maybe "Somnus"?) to free, since it's all included in Curtain Call anyway?
Re: Video: This Harmless Exploit Will Help You Grab All Those StreetPass Puzzle Pieces
Re: Series Producer Ichiro Hazama Says Theatrhythm Dragon Quest Will Have About 60 tracks
Re: Gallery: A Closer Look at Japan's Majora's Mask 3D Pre-Order Bonus
Would've liked to've gotten my hands on those, especially seeing the Fierce Deity puzzle in the last Club nintendo rewards. Like an art book you can't be tempted to pull the pages out from!
Re: Soapbox: Portable Gaming Forges a Special Relationship With the Player, and Nintendo is the Master in the Field
Re: Not Everyone is Thrilled That Metroid Prime Trilogy Lands on the Wii U eShop Tomorrow
Re: Sonic Boom Gets a Whopping 1GB+ Update in Europe, and Fans Figure Out What it Did
And speed runners will promptly ignore it (or juggle between using it and not, to route out the latest build versus the Infinite Jump silliness).
Re: Club Nintendo Rewards are Updated for January, Kicking Off Its Final Run
Re: Smash Bros. 2v2 For Glory Exploit Makes Pac-Man Duo Unbeatable
