Re: Review: Animal Super Squad (Switch eShop)

@darkswabber — I feel ya. Never got into his Let's Play videos years back, what with the screaming, but I recall the hubbub around his poor judgment (or lack of judgment) for those...speechy occasions, though I never delved deep into coverage on the matters. However, my boyfriend started me watching his newer stuff (around the time of the beard) in the past half year or so, and while I don't think Felix and my frames of mind and humors overlap as well as I'd prefer, I overall think he's not "a bad person". Seems with all the backlash that's occurred, it's led him to step down from the abundance of works he'd been involved in, and I think that's been good for his state of mind.

But, if he keeps %^$&ing up like he had in the not-so-distant past, I'll still decry his detriments to any communities affected.

Re: It's A Battle Of Sports And Popcorn In This Weekend's Splatfests

TJF588

Dag nabbit, Ninty, I wanna side with Marina more often. The popcorn one is obviously Pearl's (though I most enjoy cheesy), and in Murrika I'd more readily follow along with baseballing (though I agree basketball would be better than either, and NOA missed out for dunking on Pearl's height!).

Re: Indie Smash Undertale Is Coming To Switch "Eventually"

TJF588

This game inspires so many feels, highs and lows, in such sync between the game and player. As Mother's Basement put it, where many games you care about the characters, Undertale's characters care about you. That sentiment doesn't even need any fourth-wall shenanigans to ring true, as I was right there in the moments, just as pumped up, contemplated, or outright heartbroken as the characters themselves. I'd played through orating everything, putting my abyssal acting chops into dialogue delivery, and by the end I'd found my voice wavering with these emotions.

Definitely, don't look up anything past gameplay descriptions (EarthBound JRPG combat structure with shoot-'em-up attack dodging), as everything in this masterwork serves to harmonize the experience.

Re: You Can Now Search Through a Complete Archive of Miiverse

TJF588

These archivers are gods among gamers! After PlayStation Home bit the dust, the impending death of my second sweet child got me down all over again. Now, if but the Wii U hackers could divert Miiverse fubctions toward this Archiverse, so we may have some legacy displays.

Re: Mega Man 11 Confirmed For Switch In 2018

TJF588

Saw that graphic style, and I die smiling at how Capcom, the death of Mega Man, robbed the corpse of Mighty No. 9 and restored the life its Kickstarter sucked out of it! For all the crap this bizarro year's thrown at us, at least this much can bring light to muh day.

Re: Wonder Girl Is Joining Wonder Boy In The Dragon’s Trap Remake

TJF588

Wowow, what kinda deep minutae does this game's plot and characterization employ that it's an agenda for devs to think it kinda neat to add in alternate sprites in a remake of an old little romp? Oh, the title? Judge a book by its cover, I'm sure. To preempt when they include a robot swap, lemme know the state of AI resistance, eh?

Also: Yay for my lack of wherewithal to skim past BotW spoils! (What are these timescales?!)

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Launches On Switch In April, Features Splatoon Inklings

TJF588

Haven't read all the comments to see if this was corrected, but I do remember this being in the presentation. It was sandwiched into a string of trailers and wasn't talked up independently, but I'm certain I watched it during broadcast.

...But for the game itself, can we get aaaany of these updates to MK8 vanilla? I'm not sure what position I'mma be in to get a Switch soon, but gotta get me some OG Splatoon love on the system from whence it arose.

Re: Rumour: Mother 3 Will Be Unveiled for the Switch VC at the Switch Reveal Next Week

TJF588

@Tsurii All IIRC, the main Mother 3 translator was Clyde Mandalin (sp?), who had been prominent at Starman.net, currently curates the long-running Legends of Localization, and is a professional translator to boot.

I'm feeling burned on the implication this is Switch-exclusive, but I would love to see then announce this for Wii U to tie it to a Cross-Buy/Backwards Compatibility initiative, such that all NNID-based Virtual console purchases will grant you the Switch copies at no extra charge (or, more cynically, buy Mother 3 before launch to get it free for Switch; afterwards, standard $2 or whatever price if owned on a last-gen system).

Re: Feature: 30 Essential Wii U eShop Games

TJF588

@Mahe Didn't this piece literarily pay lip service to Axiom Verge making use of the Game Pad's screen? I get there's Cross-Buy (but not Cross-Save?!), trophies, and PS4's social options on Sony systems, but for the game itself, is the Wii U not even that incrementally greater for it?

Re: Feature: 30 Essential Wii U eShop Games

TJF588

@tedko Affordable Space Adventures is a game set for couch co-op. I doubt I'd want to play it on my own, but drag an onlooker into an in-game duty (I handled guidance while my sibling handled systems; if I could drag her into it, I'd like to get my parent on lights), and part of the engagement is coordination.

Re: Feature: 30 Essential Wii U eShop Games

TJF588

Any multiplatform game which makes noted use of the Wii U's (and 3DS's) dual screens gets my respect. Just a shame we don't see even that much care set to using a PS Vita as a Game Pad of sorts for the PS4.
