I want mario amiibo to unlock fludd so you can be a wild card and wash away ink. perhaps leave a puddle for a few seconds that prevents opponents from re inking the area?

It was inevitable, or at least it was something I thought would be nice if it happened. I would be more likely to buy this game of this content eventually made its way here.

@Ryu_Niiyama When you could instead cover enemy ink in friendly ink, what possible advantage would simply removing enemy ink serve?

@bro2dragons That's why I was saying that it could work if the water leaves puddles that prevent immediate re-inking. Like perhaps 10 seconds or so.

I'd personally like for it to be a true wild card and have the ability to be against both sides but I'm not sure how that would keep the teams even unless Nintendo can allow for 9players.

Squidward costume for Splatoon?

I'm not really sold on this crossover, mostly because Shinryaku! Ika Musume is a very shallow and one-dimensional moeblob gallery, but maybe Anbe can actually pull himself together for this...
I was actually wondering why Nintendo didn't put in all kinds of cameo costumes, like the Varia Suit+Arm Cannon, F.L.U.D.D. and Bowser Jr.'s Paintbrush, and more.

Why not a Mario/Luigi set with their outfits plus Fludd/Poltergust as weapons? That would so work!

As long those costumes are only cosmetic nature, I have no problem with that =)

I've been hoping for something simple that could work with most amiibo's if simple hats/shirts/shoes. something like a Mega Man Helmet, Sonic Shoes, or a Wario Moustache would be awesome!

If they want more product placement, all the squidlings hanging out in Inkopolis should be popping Kellogs fruit snacks into their mouths, I have an inkling Nintnedo has an advertising deal w/ Kellogg. (Yes I already posted this once before, apologies to anybody's eyes I hurt from seeing it twice.)

Who thinks the the Tram/Streetcar in Inkopolis will be opened up and lead to an expanded area of new content down the road?

The cameos and crossovers they could've done with other Nintendo franchises via amiibo would've been amazing. But I imagine they didn't go with that cause they want Splatoon to stand on its own two feet as a new franchise and not drive in popularity off of other franchises. But that's not to say they can't do it later down the road like Mario Kart 8. Be yourself at first, then expand with DLC and amiibo content referencing other nintendo games. There's so much they could do!

This crossover has been begging to happen ever since Anbe-san made his own Splatoon fanart last year. Nintendo would have been crazy not to have jumped on that.

Wee bit disappointed that it's just a costume DLC. Should still be cool but I'm really hoping for a collaboration that involves a Splatoon manga (and hopefully an anime would follow).

I'm sorry but I don't even know who this is...I don't watch anime. Anyway, I think it'd be cool to see FLUDD in the game with a Mario costume. There's already a "leak" about that.

Here's hoping this comes over to the West! I would love to dress up my Inkling as Squid Girl; it would especially be perfect for matches where I'm on the blue team.

The minute I saw what Splatoon was all about, I thought a Squid Girl crossover would be inevitable.

Well, this and a Pokemon crossover — I'm pretty sure there will be some Tentacool/Tentacruel and Inkay DLC somewhere here.

All my YES! To think they joked about Ika dlc when the author drew the Inkling girl last year. Now its actually happening.I haven't been this giddy since Little Mac's confirmation in Smash!
Now all we need is Mario cleaning the area with the FLUDD while the match loads/after a match and Blooper to be a squid form costume

I've never anime-d, but I have seen a ton of fan art for this crossover. Kinda weird, and I probably wouldn't use it, but whatever. I have no strong feelings either way.

Ika Musume costumes will be very much welcome in the west too thanks Nintendo

@Kaze_Memaryu I, for one, would like to assist Ika Musume in invading the human realm. That's an idea for another single-player campaign!

Ika Musume can shoot black ink aside from whatever color of ink her gun has! Assist the humans in fighting back against the invading menace! Remember, don't get caught in friendly fire, water damages you too! There, another campaign idea.

Of course, you still have all the characters' costumes to unlock, hehehe.

I'm having too much fun with this idea.

Mario Sunshine's FLUDD has to be included somehow - that could bring in other inventions by Professor E. Gadd?!

I do not care......I mean great more CGI-objects and assets ( in order to play around with ).

@Spectra_Twilight As I said earlier have the water prevent ink from being reapplied for a set period of time...like ten seconds. Given how frantic this game is it makes recovery by opposing team much harder. The idea isnt to just remove ink but act as a recovery barrier. Since in turf war every percent counts this could destroy another team...or level the playing field for a weaker one. I still think it would work best as an opposing wildcard/invasion type scenario.

@SamirMalik No, but a bit better writing wouldn't have hurt. Besides their respective tic/gimmick, there's absolutely nothing interesting or even creative about the characters at all.
A good counter-example is Crayon Shin-chan: every single gag that happens seems random at first, but can be tracked down to a plausible reaction from these characters' personalities.
That's not the case with Ika Musume - the characters carry only one single trait with them, and their reactions are either painfully predictable, or even worse, are random without any reason. Basically, the characters are undefined, and must bend to the will of the joke, instead of making the joke through their personality - something that is impossible when there's no actual personality to begin with.

That's called lazy writing, and I'm always against laziness. It's not hard to write it better, but Anbe simply didn't care enough, or thought the miniscule amount would suffice (which it did, sadly).

Well, guess I'm buying a Wii U if that ever makes it to Canada. It was such a great anime, only wish they ran more episodes.

Hey that's cool! People please stop asking for Mario. He doesn't need to be in this game. Quite frankly I'm tired of Mario trying to shove his way somehow into every Nintendo game.

My friend called me this morning, asking about Splatoon, and after mentioning the memes, he suggested Squidward DLC, and I suggested Squid Girl. So pumped this's real! So, Nickelodeon, there's this one game here...

@Ryu_Niiyama The main flaw I see with such a weapon is how a team consisting completely of F.L.U.D.D.s would work. It's not like they'd be able to claim anything.
