Also, retailers could and should (but won't) stop scalper bots and scumbags like this guy: https://twitter.com/PythonKicks , by enforcing a simple captcha at checkout for highly collectible items.
@WilliamCalley Yep. Plus, any additional games loaded onto the box would simply be your standard emulation fare; no visual save points, no display mode options, no pretty/integrated menus, no user manual QR codes, etc.
Nobody, it seems, managed to order one from Amazon. All forums say the same thing: site crashed, came back, crashed, etc. Finally came back, added to cart but never appeared in cart, then the order page vanished. SMDH @ Nintendo.
@Captain_Gonru Thanks for the update. I (along with many others) have been predicting the usual VERY limited supply nonsense from Nintendo from the moment this thing was announced. Unbelievable yet soooo predictable.
Does anyone in the US have a lineup/supply-vs-demand experience from this morning? Side note: I never once saw a pre-order option anywhere in the US and I've been checking daily since the console was announced.
I'm old. I remember the NES launch... Heck, I was around for Pong! Best part about the NES was that there were plenty to go around. No lining-up hours before doors opened and STILL not getting one. Imagine just being able to walk into any game/toy store at any time and simply buying one. Crazy talk, right?
I've yet to see or hear of ANY pre-orders in the US (per usual).
And going by Nintendo's continued under-stocking habits (and rumored short supply... rumor, of course, but hard to dispute), I absolutely don't expect to find one of these things at retail.
Well, at least, I'll be able to "look" like I own a mini, since Nintendo's going to brutally under-stock the US distribution.
Oh, and pre-orders are 100% fiction here, apparently.
@Don
Well, I suppose, they've already "technically" announced it.
I probably should have said "unveiled".
Plenty of tech companies (smart phones, for example), wait until the last possible moment to unveil their new products before launch, even though we all know it's coming.
I'm betting Nintendo won't officially announce anything until January, since they still have products to sell this holiday season and they don't want customers looking past their end-of-year merchandise. Hang tight, gang. We'll all be somewhat let down soon enough.
@GrailUK Ubisoft have NX dev kits. That is nowhere near the same thing as a final NX console. Nintendo is not handing out final-build NX systems to anyone at the moment. No one but Nintendo will have an NX until it launches. No one.
In this current age of instant information, if anyone besides Nintendo of Japan had a final NX the internet would have been flooded with images by now, as has been the recent case with any highly-anticipated technology.
As frustrating as it is that Nintendo has gone dark on NX info, we'll just have to keep waiting until something official is announced.
This guy, like the rest of us, knows nothing and has been told nothing (and truly hasn't actually said anything). It's all hyperbole and rumor and speculation. Even NX developers have no idea what it will cost or what the final/retail system will look like, as they're just using ugly/temporary dev kits that are simply designed to allow for content creation.
And NO ONE has played on the real NX. This guy is either being told a bunch of nonsense or, more likely, is embellishing information in order to promote himself and his youtube channel.
As expected, still no hint of a US pre order. This has become a tiresome Nintendo trend. I'm anticipating strategically limited supplies in North America and eBay gouging, per usual. Please, prove me wrong, Nintendo.
