Already did some daily goals in Asphalt 9, and will do it again tomorrow. This weekend is going to be a bit busy for me, so I plan to squeeze in some Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for a few mini-games.
@Anti-Matter I agree, since I use online play to play with a friend who moved to another state.
Personally, I'd be happier if the $20/year was for a classic Nintendo games service. It would not replace buying games for me, I love going out and picking up a new game. Still a nice option to have at least.
Being that Nintendo fan who is also a PC gamer, I have very strong opinions against paying to play online multiplayer modes. When it comes to online play, PC has the best value. Just buy the game and play online for no additional cost.
The SNES and NES games are nice, a Netflix-style experience for classic games. I do like that, but it can be its own paid service without touching online multiplayer in games I already paid for.
At least that's how I feel about it. Sorry if I sound negative about it.
Saw the Sonic movie yesterday, so in a Sonic mood and planning to play Sonic Advance 3 and Sonic Battle. Hoping to squeeze in a few events from Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and daily tasks in Asphalt 9.
Pop'n TwinBee looks like my kind of game, a really colorful shoot 'em up, kind of like Twinkle Star Sprites. Will be giving this one a go when the update happens.
Genuinely wouldn't mind trying this. Played the original Space Hunted a few years back, and really liked the classic NES feel of it. Really a nice little indie game.
Currently planning to play Asphalt 9 for the Ferrari and daily events, as well as Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games because I'm in the mood for it. Also, been enjoying a PC classic I got on GOG called Magic Carpet, so will be playing that as well.
Currently planning to continue playing the special event in Asphalt 9, and hoping to getting around to playing more Tokyo Mirage Sessions this weekend.
Movie ad or not, I think it's pretty cool seeing Sonic get a Super Bowl commercial. Looking forward to seeing the movie, probably not on release, but hopefully shortly after.
I'm subscribed just to play online multiplayer with my friends. As a Nintendo fan who's also a PC gamer, I have very strong opinions against paid online multiplayer. Really don't like the idea of paying to play games online I already paid for.
The NES and Super NES games are a nice perk, but I still feel it can be its own paid service without touching online multiplayer.
This weekend, going to play the Asphalt 9 events and start chapter 3 in Tokyo Mirage Sessions on Switch. If I have time, going to play an indie racing game on PC called Little Racers Street. Grabbed it from Steam recently, and enjoying it so far.
Yup, saved that Amy avatar, being that guy who always has an Amy avatar here. She is my favorite character and I love playing as her in the spin-off games. Looking forward to seeing what they have in store.
Right now, I'm playing Minecraft. If it comes today as its delivery is running late, Tokyo Mirage Sessions. I may play another game or two, but not sure which game yet, leaning a bit for Sonic Battle on GBA.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions is on pre-order, looking forward to reliving my favorite Wii U game at home and away from home. When it's delivered either tomorrow or shortly after. Can't make it to a store, so just ordered online.
Playing Apex on PC, I have to be honest, I like it when they have the other modes, like Shadowfall and Winter Express, more than its battle royale mode. If only limited time modes weren't a thing, I'd like to see it on Switch.
Which leads me to Titanfall 2. I also played this on PC and I loved every moment of the single player story mode. This would be another game I'd like to see ported to Switch.
Not the download version, but I have the physical version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions pre-ordered, so I'll be either receiving it in the mail on release or shortly after. Looking forward to playing this again, and when I take my Switch traveling.
I was thinking about the Mystery Dungeon games awhile back, and never had the chance to play them. So this makes me happy, will have to give the demo a try.
When I heard about this news, that old owl actually came to mind. I have the old Sonic OVA on VHS, despite not owning a VCR anymore, I still kept the tape because of the memories.
Already have Tokyo Mirage Sessions pre-ordered, hopefully it will be delivered on or close after release. Seeing To The Moon however, I'm actually surprised by that, didn't know that was coming to Switch. I have it on PC, though it's been awhile since playing it.
I'm in the same boat as @alpha5099 with the Wii U original, I got the game last Christmas (Christmas 2018, not to be confused with 2019), and it ended up becoming my favorite Wii U game. I'll definitely be playing it again.
Already played some Asphalt 9. May play some Crash Team Racing or Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but those aren't set in stone yet as I have a feeling I'm going to be a bit busy today.
I may not be big on battle royale, I enjoy Realm the times I do play it. On PC, I've had more fun with the Winter Express and Shadowfall LTMs on Apex (Is it me, or am I the only one who dislikes the "limited time mode" concept? Just keep the modes? Having extra modes in an online game does not hurt).
Realm Royale solves the problem I dislike about BR games. Tired of permadeath? Become a chicken and if you survive by running and hiding, you get a second and third chance to play longer and maybe even win. Map too big? You can ride a horse to move faster. I like these gameplay elements a lot. Such an underrated BR game.
Also, I love Paladins, Asphalt 9, and Warframe. Right now Dauntless is growing on me, hoping to co-op some monster hunts with my friends some day.
Even though it's not listed, Dawn of the Breakers, it's fun in short bursts. Has an anime style, but it's a bit RPG and a bit board game. I like playing this too.
Am I happy with Nintendo Switch Online? Allow me to answer that with a question. Why would I be happy with paying for what was previously free on Wii U, Wii, 3DS, and DS?
While I'm a Nintendo fan, I'm also a PC gamer, so I hold the dislike to paying to play online multiplayer in games I buy opinion very strongly. Right now, I'm only paying for it to play with friends online.
Will admit, the NES and SNES Netflix-style service is nice, however it can be its own paid service that doesn't touch online multiplayer.
Sorry, if I sound rather negative. Paying to play online in games I already bought is the only thing I don't like about Switch to be honest.
I love Super Lucky's Tale on PC, and loving the new Switch version now that I started to play it. I didn't really consider it to be a hidden gem.
Not putting down the game at all, I love New Super Lucky's Tale, to me a hidden gem is usually a game I don't see talked about much.
@tobibra Oh yes, Tokyo School Life. I loved that visual novel so much. There's a game I don't see spoken much of. I only think I've seen one other person mention it.
Ice Land in Super Mario 3, fond memories playing it around Christmas and just Winter in general. Ice and snow looked nice as I played the Super Mario All-Stars version, I remember getting that for Christmas as a kid too.
@Ghost_of_Starman I practically came to this article and thought Snowflake Mountain in Diddy Kong Racing! Always been a childhood favorite area to race.
Team Sonic Racing, Yoshi's Crafted World, Crash Team Racing (played it for the first time the other day), Tokyo School Life and Asphalt 9 all get my vote. This has been a good year of games for me at least, these five are my favorite Switch games from this year.
This weekend, going to try to play the Christmas event in Paladins as this weekend is the last few days for that, and want to try to play the Christmas event in Dawn of the Breakers. My friend and I exchanged gifts a bit early, and he gave me Crash Team Racing, so I'll also be playing that.
I want to try to play Sonic Mega Collection, this one brings back a Christmas memory where my brother and I exchanged gifts early, and he gave me this. Hopefully on Christmas day, Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and New Super Lucky Tale if I get them for Christmas.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone in the Nintendo Life staff and community!
Hearing "Feel" again in the opening of the video just makes me so happy. One of my favorite songs from the original.
@JR150 I agree with this. Got the Wii U original last Christmas and it pretty much became one of my favorite Wii U games. Very much looking forward to the Switch release come January 17th.
With the Christmas-themed events going on, I'm going to try to play Paladins and Apex Legends on Switch and PC respectively. Had fun when I tried Apex's Winter Express mode, and had more fun with it than its usual battle royale mode.
May play some other games too, really want to get around to these two if things don't get too busy.
I wouldn't mind a plushie of the new movie Sonic. I have a small collection of Sonic plushies ranging from classic (one I had since I was a kid too), modern, and even Boom style, so it's only natural I get one.
@MrVariant Indeed it does, especially since the pics do show where the memory card goes, or yes, you can sync a Joy-Con to a Switch Lite. Useful for people who may not own one. Though I should clarify I was talking about Nintendo Life's own pictures.
Apologies if this is a little bit off-topic. Is it bad that I want to comment to just say whoever takes the pictures of the Nintendo systems does a great job of it? They always look so clean whenever I see them here.
Busy day ahead, going to plan on playing the PC classic Wing Commander Armada with a friend. On the Nintendo side of things, I might play some Puyo Pop Fever on GameCube, and try to squeeze in some Team Sonic Racing races on Switch.
I may have to go somewhere today, so currently planning to bring my GBA SP with me to play some Sonic Battle. I'm up early, so I may play some Sonic Mega Collection before I get going. Was playing it earlier in the week and I want to play it again.
I've seen something like this before on Amazon. I believe Amazon themselves print the shirts under license. I once bought a Smurfs shirt from the official Smurfs Amazon storefront, and it had the same layout. If these Nintendo shirts are anything like that, it's pretty cool since you can choose color and shirt style.
Boy this beta has been going around. It's pretty cool they thought of the idea long before anyone spoke the words "drop dash," however, the soundtrack impresses me more.
What was once thought of as a replaced soundtrack on the old Windows 95 PC version, is actually the original soundtrack. Sonic 3 is on Steam, but that's more of an officially emulated version, rather than the original PC release.
So far played Asphalt 9 on Switch today, and Sonic Heroes for a bit on GameCube. Not sure if I'll play anything else as I have some things that need to get done, did have some fun this morning with these two.
This weekend, I want to try to do some grinding in Super Neptunia RPG on Switch. On the PC side of things, Super Lucky's Tale. It may be a while before I can get New Super Lucky's Tale, so going to play the PC one.
I didn't even know they sold out, or stopped making them. I got all three shortly after getting Odyssey last year, so I'm guessing I lucked out getting them. Though it was the individual ones, rather than the set of three.
@Bobarino Nice to see someone else enjoying Tokyo Mirage Sessions. I've been enjoying the game on Wii U since last Christmas, and really happy for the upcoming Switch version. One of my favorite games.
Currently planning to play Yakuza 0 on PC, and try to squeeze in some Team Sonic Racing races on Switch. May play something else too, but not sure of which game yet, these two I do want to get around to.
I'll probably miss out on the pre-order bonus. I stop buying games in November in event I get something as a Christmas gift. I am looking forward to this one, even more having experienced the PC version, even if there are differences in this one.
Hope people who pick this up have fun playing through Lucky's adventure.
Kind of cool the update shows a display. I've seen these for other movies at local theater too. It's either real, or the artist really put a lot of work in fooling many. Hoping for that trailer to put the rumor status to rest.
@RareFan I wasn't too surprised with the original Sonic model. More or less, I just thought the original design was Hollywood being unfaithful to a game's source material to a movie again.
