Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE - out January 17. Probably shouldn't be on this week's list... Glad to see Gust is still churning out its Atelier back catalogue, though. Is there now any better RPG machine than the Switch?
Not the download version, but I have the physical version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions pre-ordered, so I'll be either receiving it in the mail on release or shortly after. Looking forward to playing this again, and when I take my Switch traveling.
I feel like the lack of releases this week caused the Tokyo Mirage Sessions to be put on here lol
@Krull PS4 is without a doubt a better RPG machine.
Nintendo is gonna have a very very sad Q1 once again
Pokémon Shield for me this week. Did you guys see that direct? I dunno, I’m excited for one. This was what I needed to convince me; the game looks great. Otherwise I absolutely will be picking up Tokyo Mirage.
@dougphisig I mean, Fire Emblem and SMT are both pretty popular series, and Mirage Sessions is a crossover between them, so it's not surprising. A lot of people are excited for this (full disclosure, this includes me). Sure, it's a port, but they've featured Wii U ports in Nintendo Downloads before, haven't they?
Skipping Mirage Sessions for obvious reason. But I hope the people who are getting have fun with it
Holy crap, I think it's actually a "nothing for me" week! I mean, I have incoming games for review but I'm pretty sure I'm not actually buying anything this week. Of course, a couple weeks ago during the crazy-ass sales I DID buy a TON of massive RPGs so unless it's for the website/review I might actually be chilling out on the purchases for a bit. I know, calm down.
@Shiro28 Refresh my memory, what's the hate for Mirage Sessions? It looked like something I might be into but I also never really paid attention to all the talk about it so I'm blind here.
Already played Tokyo Mirage on WiU (I liked it). So going with DBZ: kakarot for my RPG itch.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is next friday. Why is it listed in this week's downloads?
@Hobbesyall Yep. My next games on Switch are Secret of Mana and Road to Boruto all the way in April.
Japan's obsession with Penguin Wars mystifies me.
There was just a remake released on Switch not too long ago.
@GhostGeneration The usual "underage character in sexually-charged situation" was censored out of the English version.
@readalie I have it pre-ordered it was just a comment because the games 8 days away and probably would have fit more on next weeks nintendo downloads instead . However there wasn't many games for this weeks downloads, and maybe that's why they included it early.
@AllieKitsune Oh yeah. But the GAME is the same right? I don't care about the other stuff, I mean $%#@ censorship but I also SUPER don't care about them cutting weird underage sex stuff lol.
@GhostGeneration the amount of hate of is from the amount of censorship. And it wasn't only weird underage stuff, rendering most of the censors unnecessary. Still the gameplay is the same and many people actually liked it.
Nothing for me. I would like the dusk triology, but I find the price point insane.
@tech7 Right on, thanks for the further insight!
@tech7 I'm with you on that one. Although, if any of them are even half as good as Atelier Ryza I may have to go for it one of these days.
Wow Atelier Dusk Trilogy Deluxe Pack seems mighty good, now if it wasn't $90. I'll probably get that for $40.
@GhostGeneration the dusk triology is well liked, but if you only know ryza, i would be careful. Ryza deviates from the usual atelier games. The first two dusk games also still had a time limit, which does not appeal to many people. But yeah I also lije ryza very much.
@tech7 I'll stick with Ryza then, I'm not down with time limits and I LOVE the more active combat in Ryza too. No worries, I have PLENTY of other stuff to play lol.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions & the pre-purchase of the Pokemon Sword/Shield Expansion Pass for me.
To all those who ordered Tokyo Mirage Sessions, no wonder when Xenoblade X or Fatal Frame 5 would be censored too, when rereleased on switch. Because you support this.today
I chosed Atelier Shallie, played it on PS3
@GhostGeneration Me too! Now played about 70 hours and tryung to complete all quests after beating final boss. Ryza and DQ Xi best games this year
I misread "Thoth" as "Thot" for a second and wondered what kinda game they were trying to sell.
@Kuroki I haven't played DQ XI yet but it's on the "to-do list" for sure. I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the first time right now too but I got sucked into Ryza! I'm hopeless.
@GhostGeneration Xenoblade 2 was the reason why I buyed switch. After this game's trailer on youtube.
about 300 hours played...collected all blades
@Kuroki Nice, it's an AMAZING game. It's what got me fully back into RPGs, I hadn't really played them in years.
Penguin Kun Wars is a seriously fun old game. Spent a lot of time with it in the MAME days. Worth a few minutes of your time.
@GhostGeneration Same here. I highly recommend Tales of Vesperia too.
@Kuroki Bought it on sale a couple weeks ago lol! After I took a chance on XBC2 I grabbed Tales of Vesperia, Ni No Kuni, FFS/X2, and FF XII on sale. Then, I said screw it and bought Atelier Ryza. So now, I'm essentially drowning in world-class RPGs. HELP!
@GhostGeneration After 100 % Ryza walkthrough I am going to play Star Ocean or FF VIII. Also Shining Resonance is waiting too))
Where the heck is Sega Ages Fantasy Zone?? This was a Master System favorite of mine! Looking forward to having it on the Switch 😐
Curious to see Skellboy jan 30. That was a nindie direct reveal about a year ago.
And Splatoon 2020, because that's definitely releasing any day now.
@GhostGeneration, @AllieKitsune, re: TMS Censorship/Localization.
Now from what I understand this doesn't affect the gameplay which is quite good, but for those that care, it's pretty lazy & half hearted localization in parts.
I'm personally not taking sides & don't really care either way, just adding some perspective by actually listening to the people that were disappointed.
@dougphisig Oh, whoops! XD
@RR529 Right on, I'm thinking I might just skip it cause it sounds like kind of a mess lol.
@Krull Love to see some new or even new exclusive RPGs though. Also something more experimental would be cool.
nothing for me so I will be picking up Dragon Ball Z Kakorot for my PS4
@Ralek85 That’s fair. Have you tried Saga Scarlet Grace? It’s very different and still pretty new, albeit not an exclusive. It’s on my radar, anyway.
@Krull Not really, no. I've never played a SaGa game before to be honest and I also remember vaguely reading, that it was on mobile too, which justified or not, did turn me off somewhat at the time. Until now, I never thought about the game again really.
Having said that, none of these are really arguments against the game of course. I'm going to check out some reviews for it, and maybe give it a try, if I like what I read/see. Thanks for reminding me about it!
I'd love to see more games like Resonance of Fate, with a unique battle system and a kinda unique setting (for a jRPG at least). I was thinking about stuff like the Sting Entertainment games, particularly Knights in the Nightmare and Yggdra Unison, as well here. Also something like Generation of Chaos: Pandora's Reflection or Chrimson Shroud comes to mind.
To name a few of the games I had in mind.
Love to see all of these "handheld" games being brought to Switch btw, and like I said, similar new "experiments" in that vein being created for Switch!
@GhostGeneration It's just about the heavy censorship that it has. some people are ok with it, others are not. I don't support censorship so I won't get the game, that doesn't mean other people shouldn't enjoy.
Tokyo Mirage sessions for me. And after how much I've enjoyed Atelier Ryza, I might want to buy that trilogy pack too.
@AllieKitsune I don't think it classifies as "weird underage" if their ages were raised to 18. The censorship was pointless, since they made the female characters older.
I wish Hamster would complete the NEO GEO catalog, or at least bring the rest of the games that don't have license issues (I'm not holding my breath for Willow or Double Dragon).
@Shiro28 I don't support censorship either, but I also kinda don't care about it in this particular instance either. Whatever, I think I'm gonna skip this one just cause it's now gotten on my nerves lol.
@GhostGeneration lol that works
