I loved the Frozen theme, back when Disney actually sold themes on the eShop. I also like the Amy Rose one, the Sonic Boom one from when the game was new, and the Dreamcast one.
Still haven't gotten the Expansion Pack, just don't see the value in spending the $50/year yet, so cautiously optimistic given how game drops are. If any game would sell me on it, Sonic Battle. I love this game, and I feel it would be really fun online.
Last year when my friend visited, we even played Sonic Battle on two GBAs with a link cable and two copies. I would love to have it online, because we both live in different states. This way we can play anytime, instead of waiting for us to be together.
So glad you mentioned the voice message and calling, I have a feeling some won't call and miss out on that little fun bit. I was like "is this a real number," and called. Kind of made my night!
@Ryu_Niiyama I really loved that charm of it, it just gave me local TV ad vibes.
@Ventilator I do buy physical and digital games on both Nintendo systems and PC, most likely if I do get Zelda, it would be physical anyway hopefully it will be cheaper when I get around to getting it.
Most games I get are either sale price or a price drop, saving full price day one games for one game I want to play the most. Even if that game might not be Zelda, I'm ok with waiting to play it.
Simple answer, no! Games have been $60 for the past 15 years or so, ever since Xbox 360 and PS3 came out, and I do not want another price increase. I have a few Zelda games I like, and I can wait for a better price and play those older ones in the time being.
I already buy games on a budget (wait for sales or price drops), so I have to be really selective over full price games. I have to really want to play it, if that means waiting on Zelda and playing something else, I'll do that.
Last year, I only bought one full price game on release (not including two I got as gifts as they were gifts), while I like Zelda, there might be another game I might enjoy more. Always been a causal Zelda fan, I do like the games.
I like playing Apex from time to time on both PC and Switch, and it introduced me to Titanfall 2. Played and loved Titanfall 2 on PC. I would have probably play this too if it actually came out.
Asphalt 9 on PC, love it on Switch, started playing it on PC recently just to be able to play it there too. Want to work towards unlocking some cars. Also, Modern Combat Blackout on Switch. Bought this on sale years ago, now I feel like playing online to earn some tokens and unlock some more stuff.
For those not familiar, Modern Combat Blackout is a Switch port of the mobile FPS game Modern Combat 5. Unlike the mobile (and PC) version, it's a paid game with no microtransactions, so stuff is unlocked from just playing the game. Also, has proper offline modes for single player and local wireless multiplayer.
These two are definite, but wouldn't rule out other games I may want to play this weekend.
@JohnnyMind Pretty much. I got my copy for Christmas, but opened it early just to install the updates (servers get a lot of traffic Christmas day), and installed the updates and redeemed the DLC code. Started playing it on Christmas day.
The original Sonic the Hedgehog, whether it's the Mega Collection version, or the 3DS one, or the Sega Ages version on Switch, the emulated version Sega released on Steam years ago, or even the oddball GBA port, I always come back to play the original Sonic the Hedgehog game every year.
It's one of my favorites, so I'll always come back to it.
@Serpenterror That's cool to know. Yeah, Virtua Fighter 2 Genesis felt like Virtua Fighter 2's arenas (as far as I can remember), but Virtua Fighter 1's roster. While I did initially play it on Sega Channel, I did play Virtua Fighter and Virtua Fighter 2 in the arcade. VF1 was at a campground, and VF2 was at a boardwalk arcade. I miss those kind of places.
@kkslider5552000 Yup, quite surprising really. I remember playing this on on Sega Channel back when I was a kid. It's cool they made it into a 2D fighter.
I also remember Sega making a Game Gear edition called Virtua Fighter Animation. Played that one later on though. It was crazy Sega tried to make versions of the games on older systems.
@GameOtaku Yup, played Virtua Fighter 2 on that collection, and I have the older PC release of this one Sega released a long time ago on their own website (thankfully, it was a DRM-free release too).
Happy Halloween to anyone celebrating this weekend! Hoping to do the Halloween events in Apex and Paladins this weekend. Also, earlier in the week, bought Monster Bash from GOG, a classic PC platformer by Apogee with horror themed levels as a bit of a Halloween treat. Going to play that too.
Also want to play some other games, not sure which ones yet, want to get to these because of Halloween.
While I haven't played it on Switch, Smurfs Mission Vileaf. Played the PC version, but it's also on Switch. I think you missed this one, because it's surprisingly good for a licensed game. The Smurfs world feels lively and it's a fun platformer to play IMO.
On Switch, I have played My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure. As an MLP fan who loved the A New Generation movie, I feel this one did a good job capturing the movie, while being a fun game. Even if it is on the short side.
I feel these two got missed, because IMHO, they're both good games, even if they're aimed towards kids.
@Anti-Matter Yeah and they're all optional, so there's no need to worry about extra content in games. If something appeals to someone, they'll get the DLC. If not, then they don't need to buy it.
Understood, maybe Sonic games aren't your kind of thing. That's fine, there's lots of different games to enjoy.
@Anti-Matter What @Snatcher says. I really dislike the Sanic shirts (IMHO, Sanic just belittles and mocks something I like), so I didn't even download it for Sonic Forces. That's what makes it being DLC good, you don't need to download it if you don't want to.
Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis on GBA, despite its technical problems, I just loved having Sonic 1 on the go well before the DS and later portable versions appeared. I got it summer 2007 as a surprise from my mom.
Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, despite this game being hated by many, I enjoyed it. I like game and had fun with the exploration aspect. Reminded me of the cartoon tie-in games I play, which is fitting since Sonic Boom was also a cartoon.
I loved Star Fox Zero, didn't know the game was so hated. I had a lot of fun playing this one, and being a Star Fox fan, I enjoyed seeing Star Fox 64 re-imagined. At least that's what it felt like to me.
As someone who loves Star Fox, I was really happy to got to experience it on the SNES Classic when I got one, and I'm actually happy it made its way to NSO's SNES Online. Especially after years of reading about this one online from Star Fox and Nintendo fan sites.
@Jkr Nah, I'm not one of those "oh no you played Sonic 06" kind of guys. If anything, it's cool you enjoyed it. Never did play it, I did enjoy that GBA port of Sonic 1 at the time. It had its technical problems, but man, I just liked having a one of my favorite Sonic classics on the go before better portable versions came along.
I'm gonna wait on it, just in event I get it for Christmas. Happened last year with Colors Ultimate. Enjoy the game when you get it.
Finally nice to see gameplay. Looking forward to this one too. Still love the Smurfs, and Mission Vileaf did not disappoint me.
@Anti-Matter So far, it seems to have a Switch only listing. I'll still check it out, though I wouldn't mind getting this on GOG like I did the last Smurfs game. I like having a DRM-free copy I can play forever.
Hoping it makes it to other systems, especially when the previous game was on other systems and PC.
Looking forward to this one, nice to hear Alex's opinions on the game. Bigger question remains, are Alex's opinions the "most lovely?" We need to know!
@Fizza As a fan, I have enjoyed the previous Sonic games, even if it goes against popular opinion. Not counting Colors Ultimate as that was a port, I was thinking the other games like Forces, Boom (yes, I liked all three, despite popular opinion), and Lost World. Looking forward to this one too.
I played the original after a friend gifted me a GOG copy, I loved it. Really is a cool surprise seeing this one show up. Glad it's going to have multiplayer, friend and I had fun with the multiplayer modes (albeit GOG's version used direct IP instead of a matchmaking service).
@K1LLEGAL As someone who played Blake Stone this past summer (bought it from GOG, was really cheap during the Summer Sale), I second this.
@Silly_G I loved Doom, and I enjoyed Blake Stone. Just a shame it got overshadowed by Doom as Doom was the better looking more advanced game at the time, since I had fun with Aliens of Gold.
Oh boy, I remember this was their solution during the Wii U days. As someone who opens ports on my router to play older online games with friends (did it the other day with the GOG version of Mortal Kombat 3 actually), I usually open to play and close them when I'm done.
Having all the ports open is really a dangerous idea to do. Yes, they had this during the Wii U days too.
Got into Mario + Rabbids this past summer, during the trial. Wish I played it sooner. Looking forward to the new game, so will be tuning in for that and Brawlhalla, I do enjoy playing that game from time to time.
@eaglesfly76 Glad I'm not the only one who still uses the Wii U regularly. I always find something to play on it each month, whether it's a Wii U game or a backwards compatible Wii game.
@Not_Soos I watch Korone. She is actually a Sonic fan, and enjoys the games, watched her streams of Sonic Adventure and some of the classics. The "character" in the picture is what she uses to represent her audience, IIRC.
This is why I'm positive about this one, whereas the "Sanic" shirts were a meme, and Sanic was used to mock Sonic. Just wish the US got it too, since people outside Japan do watch VTubers too.
Will probably wait until Christmas to play this one. Usually my folks get me a game or two for Christmas, so I tend to avoid buying games in November and December in event of that. I am looking forward to this.
@Blooper987 being the resident VTuber guy, I think this might be of interest.
@Anti-Matter Actually, this isn't about piracy, like you think. Denuvo is bad in general. I have Sonic Mania on PC and it use to have Denuvo. When I went to play not being connected online (had an internet outage at the time), it did not let me play. Sega eventually removed Denuvo, but all it did was stop me from playing a game I paid for.
If you have a game with Denuvo and Denuvo turns off the servers, you're really stuck with an unplayable game. People who pirate games will still pirate, it's proven Denuvo does not stop piracy. All Denuvo does is punish people who buy a game legally.
This is why, understanding why DRM is really bad is very important.
Puyo Puyo Kirby has my attention, also, I'm kinda curious Daiva since I never heard of it. Like others, I'm surprised Kirby's Avalanche is showing up because we have Super Puyo Puyo 2 already on the service.
This is a really nice surprise. Loved Mission Vileaf. This may not be no Mario Kart or Team Sonic Racing, but as a Smurfs fan, I think I'm going to have fun with this.
Edit: Ok, that's really cool. In the multiplayer screenshot, I noticed one of the Smurfs from the Lost Village movie and new cartoon series.
@Fizza Thanks for tagging me. Talk about a cool surprise.
@HotGoomba While it may not be a 10/10 masterpiece, Mission Vileaf was a solid platformer. They did a nice job capturing the Smurfs' world IMHO.
Already played some Asphalt 9 this morning. Current gaming plans include playing Borderlands 2, got it from the Steam Summer Sale, and the classic PC game, Strike Commander. Enjoying Borderlands 2 so far.
This is really cool, I've seen Korone's Sonic videos, and they were fun to watch. Sega's official Sonic channel even did a video with her talking about her experience with Sonic last year.
The music is not bad, I understand why people are disappointed, but for me, I played the Sonic & Knuckles Collection on PC, the old Windows 95 port. They're good songs, though I'm familiar with them in MIDI style.
From the comments, I'm guessing most never played the Windows 95 ports.
@steizgr8 @BrazillianCara Make that three, I remember these versions, though, Launch Base in the original Windows 95 version had a bit of a heroic start.
Mostly PC games this weekend. Steam is having a free weekend for The Anacrusis, so far I like it. Think Left 4 Dead, but with aliens and on a giant spaceship. Because of GOG's summer sale, also playing Strike Commander and Blake Stone Aliens of Gold.
Switch side of things, My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure. Beat the game, but I like coming back to explore and play the mini-games.
I feel a bit sad, had a bit of fun with this one on both Switch and PC, even if I wasn't the greatest player. Last time I checked the game was to look in the in-game shop, I remember getting 500 coins via a promotion they had sometime after launch.
Just got done playing Bullfrog's classic PC game, Magic Carpet. Hopefully my copy of My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure should come in the mail today, so I'll play that if it comes. Maybe some Racing Karts on Switch, got it on sale recently and it's fun for some quick races.
@Anti-Matter Will do, the wait for delivery begins. I rarely pre-order, but I started doing it more when I want a game day one, but can't go out day of release to a store.
@shinesprites Series completed in 2019. This one is specifically called My Little Pony: A New Generation, or G5. It takes place 1000 years after the events of Friendship Is Magic, even the movies makes little nods here and there.
For example, the orange pony, Sunny has buttons of Twilight's, Fluttershy's, and Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on her bag, zoom in on the picture.
In spoiler territory... Sunny believes in the stories of the mane six and how ponies should be friends, the mane six are seen as legends in this new movie. A pony named Zipp even goes to an abandoned station, looking up to a Wonderbolts poster. Hitch, the guy pony, channels a lot of Fluttershy with animals liking him.
IMHO, I like the movie and the new special that came out today.
Have My Little Pony on pre-order, being delivered on Saturday if tracking is correct. Got it physically. As someone who loves Friendship is Magic and the new series (just got done watching the new Make Your Mark on Netflix), very much looking forward to playing it.
@Snatcher Meanwhile in a similar fashion Disney replaced the generic ugly ponies from the first trailer, with the official My Little Pony designs, lol. Funny how it worked out again.
@AstroTheGamosian I haven't seen this show in so long. I have the original series on Disney+ as I type this, totally remember whenever Monterey Jack went "cheeeeese". I'm excited for this movie, let alone curious about all the cameos.
@dew12333 You're welcome, not sure if other countries have a similar message on game boxes. Still will agree to disagree since developers have no way to know if people will misbehave with voice chat, and the option is there to disable it completely.
It can vary from game to game, I notice more popular games tend to have rude players, while less popular ones I've played don't have, or rudeness is minimal. Going by personal experience since I play online on PC too, so I see text chat too.
I'm surprised the age rating is that low. Here in the US, I believe the minimum for an online account for anywhere, online games included, 13 and up. 3 is really a young age. I wonder if parental controls limit voice chat. I'm the only one who uses my Switch, so I never had the need to use them.

Hoping those who have a code redeems theirs soon.

While I haven't played it on Switch, Smurfs Mission Vileaf. Played the PC version, but it's also on Switch. I think you missed this one, because it's surprisingly good for a licensed game. The Smurfs world feels lively and it's a fun platformer to play IMO.

Re: Sonic Frontiers Is Getting Free Monster Hunter DLC On November 14th
@Anti-Matter Yeah and they're all optional, so there's no need to worry about extra content in games. If something appeals to someone, they'll get the DLC. If not, then they don't need to buy it.
Understood, maybe Sonic games aren't your kind of thing. That's fine, there's lots of different games to enjoy.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Worst Game That You Still Love For Some Reason?
Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis on GBA, despite its technical problems, I just loved having Sonic 1 on the go well before the DS and later portable versions appeared. I got it summer 2007 as a surprise from my mom.
Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, despite this game being hated by many, I enjoyed it. I like game and had fun with the exploration aspect. Reminded me of the cartoon tie-in games I play, which is fitting since Sonic Boom was also a cartoon.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 11th)
Re: Konami Terminating Super Bomberman R Online, Will Move Forward With "New Projects"
I feel a bit sad, had a bit of fun with this one on both Switch and PC, even if I wasn't the greatest player. Last time I checked the game was to look in the in-game shop, I remember getting 500 coins via a promotion they had sometime after launch.
Re: Check Out The First Proper Gameplay Footage For Sonic Frontiers
Just got done watching it and found the news story here. Yeah, Breath of the Wild immediately came to mind when watching this teaser.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 28th)
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th May (North America)
Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Three More Titles
Amusing part about this update... I bought Rival Turf a few weeks ago on Wii U, and was looking up pinball games on my Switch, lol.
Looking forward to playing Rival Turf with a friend, had fun with the Wii U version, so good to know I can play it online now.
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th May (North America)
Have My Little Pony on pre-order, being delivered on Saturday if tracking is correct. Got it physically. As someone who loves Friendship is Magic and the new series (just got done watching the new Make Your Mark on Netflix), very much looking forward to playing it.
Re: Random: Sonic The Hedgehog's "Ugly" Design Apparently Makes A Cameo In The New Chip N' Dale Movie
Re: PSA: Rocket League's New Cross-Platform Voice Chat Is Enabled By Default
