We've had a super-busy week full of news on that gorgeous Animal Crossing-themed Switch, details on Pokémon Home, and even a new Super Smash Bros. fighter, but now it's time to take a breather and enjoy some games for a bit.

Members of team Nintendo Life have shared our weekend plans below and we'd love for you to join in via the comments and poll sections. Enjoy!

After all of the Animal Crossing updates we got this week, I’m really starting to feel the motivation to knock a bunch of games off of my backlog before it’s time to start my life on a deserted island with some adorable anthropomorphs. I know once that game is here, I’ll have very little interest in playing much else for a very long time.

That’s why this weekend, I think I’ll finally play a few titles I’ve missed out on this past year - including Astral Chain, Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age. These were all games I wanted to play at launch, but ended up avoiding for whatever reason - and I know if I don’t play them now, I never will.

After putting an unreasonable amount of hours into DOOM, I've been craving something a little more light-hearted, so naturally I've started the brilliant Stardew Valley again from scratch. It's such a wonderful game that's brilliant for killing time, so I'll no doubt be sticking with it at least until Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches in March.

I'm also happy to report that I've managed to get back into Pokémon Sword after taking some time off, so maybe I'm not quite done with the franchise just yet!

I finally got around to completing Luigi's Mansion 3 this week - what a tremendous game! - and now find myself in that weird in-between games phase where you're not sure what to play next. Part of me is thinking that I should bring an N64 downstairs for the weekend and play through some random titles - sometimes you just can't beat a blast of nostalgia.

Having said that, my partner and I have also just started a re-run of Overcooked 2. I'm not sure why we do it to ourselves - I've never known a game to cause so much stress in a single sitting - but it really is good fun at the same time.

This week I’d like to start To The Moon. I nabbed it before it was mysteriously removed from the EU eShop and I’d like to get cracking, although with rumours that it was removed due to a game-breaking bug perhaps I should wait.

I have plenty of games in the backlog, though, so I may sit down with West of Loathing, What Remains of Edith Finch or Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It’s hard to find the time but I’m itching to get into the latter. My goal is to play it before Sakurai announces another Fire Emblem character for Smash…

I can’t believe January came and went and I still have a legendary 2019 backlog to plough trough. SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays and DAEMON X MACHINA remain the current hot items this weekend but I also want to give Atelier Dusk Trilogy Deluxe Pack a shot. The eShop also adds to the pileup with both Code Shifter and Sisters Royale: Five Sister Under Fire making a brilliant debut. It is also about time I get back to making music, methinks.

My game of the week is the stealth-release of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. While my adult life has forbidden me to partake in real-life trading card games, this Gwent-driven spin-off bonanza finally landed on the perfect platform. Spare a coin to your Shiryu for he needs new fancy cards!

Which games are you playing this weekend?
