We've had a super-busy week full of news on that gorgeous Animal Crossing-themed Switch, details on Pokémon Home, and even a new Super Smash Bros. fighter, but now it's time to take a breather and enjoy some games for a bit.
Members of team Nintendo Life have shared our weekend plans below and we'd love for you to join in via the comments and poll sections. Enjoy!

After all of the Animal Crossing updates we got this week, I’m really starting to feel the motivation to knock a bunch of games off of my backlog before it’s time to start my life on a deserted island with some adorable anthropomorphs. I know once that game is here, I’ll have very little interest in playing much else for a very long time.
That’s why this weekend, I think I’ll finally play a few titles I’ve missed out on this past year - including Astral Chain, Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age. These were all games I wanted to play at launch, but ended up avoiding for whatever reason - and I know if I don’t play them now, I never will.

After putting an unreasonable amount of hours into DOOM, I've been craving something a little more light-hearted, so naturally I've started the brilliant Stardew Valley again from scratch. It's such a wonderful game that's brilliant for killing time, so I'll no doubt be sticking with it at least until Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches in March.
I'm also happy to report that I've managed to get back into Pokémon Sword after taking some time off, so maybe I'm not quite done with the franchise just yet!

I finally got around to completing Luigi's Mansion 3 this week - what a tremendous game! - and now find myself in that weird in-between games phase where you're not sure what to play next. Part of me is thinking that I should bring an N64 downstairs for the weekend and play through some random titles - sometimes you just can't beat a blast of nostalgia.
Having said that, my partner and I have also just started a re-run of Overcooked 2. I'm not sure why we do it to ourselves - I've never known a game to cause so much stress in a single sitting - but it really is good fun at the same time.

This week I’d like to start To The Moon. I nabbed it before it was mysteriously removed from the EU eShop and I’d like to get cracking, although with rumours that it was removed due to a game-breaking bug perhaps I should wait.
I have plenty of games in the backlog, though, so I may sit down with West of Loathing, What Remains of Edith Finch or Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It’s hard to find the time but I’m itching to get into the latter. My goal is to play it before Sakurai announces another Fire Emblem character for Smash…

I can’t believe January came and went and I still have a legendary 2019 backlog to plough trough. SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays and DAEMON X MACHINA remain the current hot items this weekend but I also want to give Atelier Dusk Trilogy Deluxe Pack a shot. The eShop also adds to the pileup with both Code Shifter and Sisters Royale: Five Sister Under Fire making a brilliant debut. It is also about time I get back to making music, methinks.
My game of the week is the stealth-release of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. While my adult life has forbidden me to partake in real-life trading card games, this Gwent-driven spin-off bonanza finally landed on the perfect platform. Spare a coin to your Shiryu for he needs new fancy cards!
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave a vote in the poll above and a comment below with your gaming choices over the next few days...

After 75+ hours I finally finished The Fruit of Grisaia so now I’ve started working my way through the rest of the content in the trilogy… I probably wouldn’t have chosen it as my next game to play if I realised just how long it is but it’s been most enjoyable nonetheless.
This week I will be mostly playing
Cadence of Hyrule
Pokémon Platinum
Alternating between Three Houses before the DLC comes out, and Judgment before Yakuza Remastered Collection comes out.
Resident Evil 0 & finishing Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore.
Hoping to finish Pokémon Sword which was delayed as I was quite enjoying the wild area and max raid battles. Might finish Little Triangle too.
Also have Yoshi Topsy Turvy to try out.
Finishing up on Pokemon Sword. Barely started FE Three Houses too, so hoping to complete that before Animal Crossing arrives!
Ni No Kuni, Shovel Knight, Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Dragon Quest 1, 2, 3 as I just got the physical Asian Switch version.
Continuing to grind Asphalt 9, just bought Goetia and Heist, and I think my son wants to play Smash Bros with me.
Should be fun.
Began playing kentucky route zero. Liking it so far. Also looking to get journey to the savage planet, seems like a good time.
I've still got my FE3H playthrough on hold until Ashen Wolves comes out. I built a new VGC team for Pokemon Sw/Sh and am playing a lot of Stardew Valley too.
Also more Star Wars: Empire at War, Thrawn's Revenge. The only game left on PC I still play.
Xenoblade X on my WiiU!
Best game ever! Please port to Switch!
Dead Cells. I somehow finally managed to beat 2 Boss Cells difficulty, so am itching to see how bad 3BC is! Have just gone over 200 hours. Can't wait for the DLC on the 11th! Have a great weekend, guys.
Just watched the new trailer for FFVII remake, super hyped. But this weekend I am continuing with FFXII zodiac age and Cat quest 2
All about XB1 this weekend (Master Chief Collection, Gears 5, etc.), completed Tokyo Mirage Sessions and the Byleth DLC for Smash a few days ago so will focus on XB1 until Three Houses Cindered Shadows DLC launches as I doubt I'd be able to finish off DQXI S in 11 days.
Sniper elite 3.
I gave up on Luigi, it got to repetitive, to repetitive 😮
i'll be working more on my farm in Stardew Valley and i bought Coffee Talk yesterday and enjoying it so far, i really like the endless mode where you can unlock recipes from just experimenting with ingredients.
Not tonight - haha
Just finished DQ11. Currently playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions and after that I'll be going back to playing Pokemon Sword.
Gonna go thru my RPG backlog after that.
I recently bought Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It's my first FE game and so far I'm loving it!
Dragon Quest XI - Finished the mermaid story line earlier today. There have been some issues with the game's pacing but it's great otherwise.
HarmoKnight - Beat it last week, going for completion since it's so short. Enjoying the fast stages much more than the normal stages. Only need to get Great from the last boss and the final stage in World 8 on normal. In fast mode I have 4 more stages in World 8 left. In other words, I'm really close and I'll have it completed by Monday.
Pokémon Shuffle - The end is near. ~25 UX stages to beat.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Some online matches with a friend and his friends. I've played a lot of Smash with my friend but had my first few matches with this group earlier this week.
Some Castlevania. Need to finish Lament of Innocence and start Curse of Darkness.
Playing Lego Harry Potter Collection.
Panzer Geekz (Windows Phone) - This seems to be giong quickly.
Flowerz (Windows Phone) - I'm not sure if I like this yet.
Briquid Mini (Windows Phone) - Progress on a few more levels today.
Luigi's Mansion 3 and some resident evil methinks.
I'm still on Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U. Think it gonna take months before finishing it !
Sword, Bloodstained, Isaac and Spirit of Justice remain the most likely candidates, but I also want to mop up the bounty quota in this week's Warframe nightwave (and these can take multiple tries, no thanks to the game being a recurrent troll about the Plains stash missions) and finally resume the summer backlog items like FFXII and Nelke. Got a few sale items to taste as well - Luke & Rebecca, Xenon Racer, The Big Journey... especially the latter - possibly the closest thing to LocoRoco you can get on a Nintendo console now, and with gyro support to boot.
Finally finished Bayonetta and starting 2 while trying to finish Castle of Heart too.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions! And actually loving it.
Hopefully finishing Pokemon Omega Ruby, as well as starting Tokyo Mirage Sessions! Also been enjoying Byleth in Smash which has made me go back and get a bit more of the way through Three Houses. I love the battles in 3H but I'm not really sure about the monastery exploration. I've been mostly skipping that now to focus on instruction and battling.
Jet Force Gemini again on the N64.....
Always more tribals to save and the soundtrack really is something else.
This morning i played The Sims 4 (PS4).
2 hours just for creating two Sims.
Btw...

I have bought 3 games just now. 😁
1. Fast Food Panic Wii
2. Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX PSP
3. Ratchet & Clank PS4
I will play them tonight. 😀
Progressing nicely through Witcher 3. 20 hours in and loving it. Haven't put over 100 hours into any game since BOTW but I can see me going over that with Witcher. Fantastic game.
Making progress in The Outer Worlds and starting to get some powerful weapons. Trying to complete Trine 4 on Switch. Both are excellent games.
Playing through Tokyo Mirage Sessions. It's so fun and addictive. Probably a bit of Overwatch and Etrian Odyssey Nexus too
Played Opus: The Day We Found Earth last week which was a nice little filler, and have started on Ring Fit Adventure. I'm relatively active anyway but feeling the ache! Other than that, just some Enter The Gungeon, Tetris 99 and Snes Mario Kart i think. Might start on Hard West soon if I have time.
Act V in Kentucky Route Zero and some Fire Emblem.
I bought myself Atelier Ryza for my birthday yesterday. I've never played an Atelier game before, but so far it's pretty interesting. Can't wait to fully dive into the alchemy system.
Hypercharge Unboxed
Just finished New Super Lucky's Tale, good game, post game content is good, and actually difficult. Rocket League, and just started To the Moon. So far it is funny, quirky, mysterious and intriguing.
Happy gaming, everyone!
Playing through Kingdom Hearts III Re:Mind and trying to take down those superbosses
Doom and Y’s VIII. Maybe some Picross throw in too.
I'm about 25 hours into Tokyo Mirage Sessions but progress has pretty much halted on the story whilst I do the side missions and keep my team levelled. The side missions seem important rather than optional for this game.
I'm away this weekend and I've taken my 3DS to chip away at Etrian Odyssey Nexus.
Happy Febrururururary everyone!
I'm playing Dragon Quest 11, Pokemon Sword and, if it arrives, Tokyo Mirage sessions this weekend.
Dusted off my N64 after buying a retro bit tribue 64 and Hyperkin Admiral
I like the Admiral much more.
Been playing F Zero X, Smash Bros, Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64.
Lego Harry Potter, Last of Us, Link's Awakening
I’m about 20 hours into Steins; Gate Elite (it’s starting to get good)
On the PS4 I’m playing Uncharted 4 (just made it to Morocco)
And some Rage 2, Mass Effect 3, and Blue Dragon on the Xbox One
After expertly cheesing through the final battle of Divinity: Original Sin 2 with charming arrows, I dove into Ni No Kuni. I'm in love. Do not send help.
Currently alternating play throughs of Skyrim ( again) and BOTW. Also playing Dragon quest VII on my 2ds xl and loving it .. about 20 hours in .
That is 3 really long games going but I really want to start Fire Emblem Three Houses . It is next in line
Just picked up the quite excellent The Touryst and having a lot of fun with it in and around that I'm on floor 7 of Luigi's Mansion and just about to tackle level 6 on NES Zelda
Still working on Pokemon Shield, and I just got Fire Emblem for my birthday.
I was having a bad couple of days so I picked up Astral Chain and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening to make myself feel better. I’m currently playing Astral Chain and loving it! After I finish it I’ll start Zelda.
Dead cells, hollow knight, katamary damancy, nba2k20 maybe cat The pix
Luigi's Mansion 3 multiplayer with my kid nephew (never actually played the game before) as well as showing him a Final Fantasy GBA collection on the big screen.
@sketchturner hi, is it any good? I was looking at this game but wasn't sure to go ahead with purchase. Your verdict?
Super Robot Wars V
VICE documentary watching
(my recommend https://youtu.be/CU_Gw8lcd_E)
Despite a big backlog with Witcher 3 and DQXI and LM3 (to just name a few) i am all absorbed again with monster hunter generations ultimate. Just starting village star 10 quests and HR6 now and solo’d my first dreadqueen.
About 13 hours into the Black Eagles campaign of FE3H. Having a great time picking at this while I have a little spare time. Still playing Tangle Tower with my wife, and loving this fully voiced whodunnit little mystery adventure. I may also play some Donut County for a little palette cleanser, and I'll need to put in some small games between my massive playthrough of FE3H. Oh, and I got the Byleth Smash DLC (and the cuphead mii costume). I wasnt too enthralled about another FE character, but I cant deny that he/she is super fun to use.
Just started Cadence of Hyrule. I'm not usually in to rogue-like/lite games but I'm enjoying so far. Also my wife just bought Ring Fit Adventure, so I'll try that out if I get the chance.
Continuing my RFA run, about to face Dragaux in World 7. And I've just started Dragon Quest XI and am loving it so much. My only issue with it so far is that the English VA is so annoying I had to switch to the Japanese voices. Erik's accent was killing me.
My 3 month Xbox game pass deal is expiring soon so I'm trying games I might want to get on switch: alien isolation, outer worlds, bloodstained, Turing test.
Other than that, I'll play more Tokyo Mirage Sessions on Wii U and some halo 5 multiplayer.
Shout out to the 1% playing West of Loathing. That game was so good. I still occasionally hum some of the music to myself.
Currently planning to continue playing the special event in Asphalt 9, and hoping to getting around to playing more Tokyo Mirage Sessions this weekend.
Hyrule warriors on Wii u. SP: Fractured but Whole on switch. And maybe Pokemon sword and paper mario If I have time.
Just finished SNES Yoshi’s Island on Switch, moved on to Koral and Arcade Archives Tecmo Bowl. And that’s a lot of fun!
I've only just gone back to playing fire emblem 3 houses this week. I took a break from it last November when my resident evil 4 import arrived.
Kirby Clash. My six year old LOVES this game. Simple combat, very cute, and short play sessions. It's our family's most played game.
Finally got around to starting Dragon Quest VIII on 3DS. I'll probably be at it for the next few weeks.
Taking Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga for a spin on 3DS and also playing a bit of Mystic Belle on the PS4.
I’m continuing my trek through Tokyo Mirage Sessions on my Switch. I’m near the end of chapter 3. If I’m feeling up to it, I’ll start Dragon Quest VIII on my 2DS XL.
On Switch I play "A Hat in Time"
A weekend of completion for me. On the Switch I should finish Blossom Tale. Over on my 3DS I am on the final boss of Hey Pikmin.
Once I finish both games, I will get back into Ni No Kuni on Switch which I got back into this week
NES weekend for me. NES Switch app for lazing around and hacked NES mini for games not on the app yet.
I love seeing that Fire Emblem Three Houses is really popular this weekend
Just started Atelia Ryza on the Ps4 and really enjoying it...no surprise really as I've never been disappointed in any of them.
Also started a brand new farm in Stardew Valley after leaving it for so long I couldn't remember what I was doing in my last game.(105 hours worth).
@Kaori-chan blue Lions story line is the best imo
I was trying to finish Tomb Raider before it left gamepass but it didn’t happen... Obviously I had to buy it since I’m almost done and have to see the ending.
I’ll also be trying to round up 3 stars in Overcooked 2 the Carnival of Chaos- usually With a bit of practice 3 stars is manageable but there are a few in this level set that are incredibly challenging. My wife says playing this game should be a prerequisite for marriage lol.
Hopefully I’ll put some time into Pokémon Shield too and try out that Pokémon Dungeon demo.
Playing Rocket League.
Not sure what else. Since December, online action is about the only thing that has held my attention.
I've been sitting on:
Luigi's Mansion 3 - 20% complete
A Hat in Time - 40%
Touryst 40%
Yooka-laylee - 0%
I bought Shovel Knight last week, so I’ve been addicted to that for the past couple of days. Also want to try more of Byleth in Smash.
I’ve been playing Sumico, Hive Jump, A Robot Named Fight, and I’m going to start Steamworld Heist for the first time today.
1. Borderlands 3
2. DBZ: Kakarot
2. And my cousins will probably have Madden20 set up tomorrow before the game.
Switch sitting this one out. Maybe check-out the Monster Boy Demo
Tecmo Bowl for the win.
Still working my way through the Witcher 3
I’m all about the Wild Area and Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Shield. Filling up that dex and collecting Milcery this weekend.
AO Tennis 2, Grid Autosport and a bit of Witcher. Should keep me busy!
@blockfight It's a fantastic game for sure. I've cracked and the 100 hour mark and still have so much to do!
Smash bros and Mario kart!
@peanutbuttercup I'm still so early in the game even though I'm 20 hours in. Love all the side missions and mini plots that develop as you go. And I know it's a visual downgrade compared to other consoles but it's still gorgeous to look at on big screen or portable.
I think I still rank BOTW higher but not by much.
Besides the non-exciting games of Get Car Serviced (currently in progress) and Clean Dusty House, I've also been putting more time into Dragon Quest VIII on 3DS (just nabbed the ship) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch. I'm starting to get the hang of the latter but still deal with plenty of rude surprises. Those. Stupid. Blue. Shells.... I've also grabbed the Cadence of Hyrule demo and hope to give it a spin later.
As usual, there will also be some Pokemon Go on and off over the weekend. Here's to hoping the next Community Day is Dratini!
@blockfight I've seen my other half play it on the PS4 and I actually prefer the visuals on the switch. It reminds me of an oil painting.
Still playing SMT IV on the 3ds. About 40-45 hours in. What an amazing rpg. Probably going to still be playing this when I can for the next week or two.
Well it is set now that I gave up on three houses (after 30h I don't see anymore evolution on the gameplay and I am bored to death). I should start TMS but the reality is I am currently enjoying the new pc (finished the Witcher 2, started darksiders 2 and batman Arkham asylum)
I've been messing around with Game Boy and GBA lately, so I may play Mega Man V, Double Dragon Advance, and Final Fight One. If I change my mind or add anything, it will most likely be from the GBA library. And I still have to play Shovel Knight: King of Cards, PC version, but I wanted to do a fresh install of my OS first, which is why I'm behind on that.
Watching the Super Bowl - Go Chiefs!!!
I've been playing Dragon Quest for so long, I won't know what to do with myself when I'm done... probably play another game or something.
@Nerdfather1, @CaptFloofers Enjoy DQ VIII! I'm about 25 hours in and really enjoying it so far.
@PhatToad I'm really enjoying it so far. Haven't played a lot, but the controls feel great, the environments are really cool, and yeah... it's a good game from what I've played so far.
Girlfriend is away for 2 weeks, so I find myself with rare gaming time where I can actually sit down for a few hours, woo-hoo! I'm about 20 hours into Dragon Quest XI, and almost at the point where I stopped playing it on PC (the mermaid and Kai quest). I started over on Switch. If I get bored of that I'll play some more Switcher 3!
I'm playing Hypercharge unboxed all weekend and having a blast! Toy soldier mayhem on switch has been a blast!
For $20.0 its a must have for us switch owners.
I really need to get back on Astral Chain honestly. But I’ll probably just end up playing Smash and Shinobi. Super Bowl weekend.
I was playing Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island earlier today, the first SMW is my all-time favourite game, so it's time this got some loving as well. Outside of that, I also plan on getting back into Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, at some point during the weekend as well.
Witcher 3 is my current game
Gianna Sisters... On Wii U! I just bought it and it is a great platform. Also been playing a lot of Fire Emblem and Alliance Alive, all on 3DS. I'm not sure why, but with all the games I have for the Switch, I've lately not felt that compelled to play it.
Smash Ultimate, & Tetris 99 primarily. Maybe some other things, too.
Diablo 3 on Switch
I'm playing Doctor Who the Edge of Time, Sports Scramble, Path of the Warrior, HellSplit Arena on my Oculus Quest and Nier Automata on the PC. No time for the Switch and probably wont play it that much until I get Astral Chains, the next MUA3 dlc, Bayonetta 3 or MP4 hit.
I feel bad. On the little email stats thing it said that I had only played 1 game in the past 30 days for an hour and it was the santa tracker. I am changing that this week tho because I am going to get Shield and finally finish Witcher.
Finally gotten the hang of Fire Emblem, now I'm just running around giving gifts to all the students I wanna recruit (because several died for...reasons).
