Re: Review: Rain on Your Parade - A Refreshingly Brief But Saccharine Shower

Okay, help a non-native speaker out here: "tweeness" is artificially attractive/too perfect according to Cambridge Dictionary. How am i meant to understand that in the context of this game? As in "it's trying too hard to be likeable"? "It's too obvious that it's going for a certain appeal"?
I'm just curious, would appreciate if someone could help me out a little here!

Re: Exclusive: Uncover The WTF World Of Cold War Spies In Cosmic Top Secret

Wow the screenshots did not at all give off the same vibe as the actual trailer. Gotta say, i'm not big on games that are mostly storytelling but this is pretty interesting. Plus - i was surprised how quickly the impression of this being a wacky stupid game as the screenshots suggested to me made way for something serious and intriguing. And it doesn't even conflict with the graphics somehow.

Re: Feature: Why Aerial_Knight Put His Name On His Game

@Kalmaro "It feels like I don't have enough data to take a real position on this yet." That's exactly how i felt, you put it perfectly. I was somewhat missing the grounds i could base this on to feel like the game was truly hindered by what it presents as the reasons.

Re: Team Reptile Shows Off The Fluid Movement In Bomb Rush Cyberfunk

@GrailUK Ah okay, so i think i got it right then, with your point being the fact that they profit off of someone's idea basically?
As an artist myself i feel like there's always art in creation as well. Depends on the medium somewhat though. A whole game is more work than copying a piece of music. Either way, as you said, if they innovate, that's great, if they're just in it for the money, yeah that's kinda ***** (even though in game development i always like to think there's some higher ups that take the decisions and the people being told to work on it, actually put their passion into it regardless).

Man it's cool to think about this "is it art, is it copying, is it exploitation" thing, just an interesting topic.

Re: Team Reptile Shows Off The Fluid Movement In Bomb Rush Cyberfunk

@GrailUK Interesting point. I see where you're coming from, saying the idea was already created and it's somebody else just regurgitating it. But yeah, personally i think it's being too harsh. It makes me think of fan mods. Mods that overhaul or lengthen a game by a considerable amount. Isn't this kind of the same? A labour of love? One might argue (i guess that might also be part of your point) that they're using it to make money off of it. But i still think, after using the idea, you still have to nail the gameplay, feel, graphics, sound. And while i don't know how similar this looks or plays compared to the original (never played it), often what starts out as mostly a copy still ends up with a fresh vibe. And i think all the original work does indeed deserve a price tag to play it (if it turns out good and wasn't made with the intention to exploit people's nostalgia). But again, i don't wanna present all this as facts, was just interesting for me to think about your thoughts on this.

Re: Nintendo Unveils A New Blue Switch Lite Console

@xmkbest Was looking for this comment haha. And to think somebody on Reddit recently spray painted his in this very specific GBA indigo - he probably would have liked this, but i don't know >how< close it actually is to the GBA's classic color.

Re: Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 Speeds Onto Nintendo Switch Today

StefanN

@Yanina "Chaos in a good way" sounds great and "ps1 vibes" sounds like it might indeed give me that Monster Truck Madness feeling haha. And yeah i suck at those too, games like Burnout are far more enjoyable to me. A buddy told me he would want to play Forza because it's his favorite arcade racer, but his PC is too weak, so i was like "oooh Arcade you say?" and then i tried it out and the cars felt like actual cars and i was really dissappointed 😅

Re: Sinnoh Confirmed: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Officially Announced For Switch

StefanN

What is everybody on about, this looks AMAZING! And i think i don't primarily like that artstyle because of the artstyle, but maybe because it's a clear indication that this could be a different experience than Sword and Shield. A good one perhaps! And also, idk, maybe it's the nostalgia playing a part as well. I really really like how this looks and it feels more like what i think of when i think "Pokemon". Can't wait for this!

Re: Soapbox: I Never Completed Breath Of The Wild, And I Never Will

StefanN

Great article! First soapbox article I actually read all the way through because it sounded a lot like you were gonna describe the same situation that i am in and you did 😅. I just don't want it to end. And also I find it quite amusing to remember Zelda saying things like "Link, hurry!" "There's not much time left!" and then I just go swiping the ground to collect rice for 1 hour.

EDIT - wow there's a lot of unpleasant people in this comments section. Don't let that get you down, I loved this article!

Re: Horror Shooter Crossbow: Bloodnight Will Have You Fighting For Survival On Switch

StefanN

Okay so i looked at the screenshots first, thought it looked great. But the trailer...eh. Not what i expected. The visual and audio feedback from getting kills seems to be super unsatisfying. That's what makes Doom (or seeing how you're killing enormous amounts of enemies here i also thought of Risk Of Rain 2) so satisfying and fun. You gotta feel like you're doing damage. Maybe the trailer isn't selling it well, but the bats really just go "pop" and that seems to be it.
