Launching later this month on Nintendo Switch is Crossbow: Bloodnight, a "frantic score-attack arena shooter" with some spooky horror vibes thrown in for good measure.
From Hyperstrange, the developers behind Postal: Brain Damaged and Elderborn, Crossbow: Bloodnight has you making use of an automatic crossbow to mow down waves of demonic creatures. "Hunt. Die. Hunt Again," the game says, just in case you weren't already creeped out enough.
It's a single-player affair, but global leaderboards mean that you can compete against friends and randomers online should you want to compare your crossbow expertise. Here's a feature list:
Features:
- Arcane Crossbow with various shooting modes, further empowered by siphoned spirits of your prey
- Fluid, skill-rewarding movement mechanics with dashes, jumps, and bunny hops
- Devastating special attack that takes time to recharge and is best used in strategic moments
- Instant respawn button and fast respawn after death, so you can stay immersed in the game
-Six enemy types in two variants, endlessly flooding the night-clad courtyard of the old, desecrated abbey that becomes the arena of your struggle
- Global leaderboard system so you can compete against friends and strangers.
It's launching on 29th January and will be available directly from the Switch eShop. Will you be picking it up? Let us know in the comments.

OMG, this looks graphically wonderful. It looks like Doom mixed with....
That trailer did not make me want to purchase it and I love FPS games.
Okay so i looked at the screenshots first, thought it looked great. But the trailer...eh. Not what i expected. The visual and audio feedback from getting kills seems to be super unsatisfying. That's what makes Doom (or seeing how you're killing enormous amounts of enemies here i also thought of Risk Of Rain 2) so satisfying and fun. You gotta feel like you're doing damage. Maybe the trailer isn't selling it well, but the bats really just go "pop" and that seems to be it.
This looks like Serious Sam + Painkiller.
And that is a good thing
Talk about mixed reactions but it's giving a mixed feeling as well. Screenshots look very good, video looks bland, title is as silly as "medieval projectile weapon: goredarkness" or "something something not so happy" would. Only then, I'd know they're not intending for it to be taken serious.
Yes. I will be getting this. Oh, and just to complain, I am still miffed we never got THE GRINDER from High Voltage Software...
The thing that is horror about this is the game design.
😬
@WhiteTrashGuy I feel ya, I wanted that game to come out too. I still kinda want my guilty pleasure to be rereleased on the switch "The Conduit"
Anyone else getting Devil Daggers vibes from this?
@N8tiveT3ch
1 & 2 Double Pack!
Reminds me of Devil Daggers on Steam.
As @StefanN pointed out, it seems the crossbow lacks impact.
Reminds me of Painkiller.
So its just a round arena that spawns infinite waves of enemies till you die? From the trailer is feels like the whole gameplay is strafing left or right and holding the attack button.
Everything about this game sounds incredibly bland and boring.
Looks like it could be good, I think some of the people that worked on Devil Daggers did on this one, but not positive. It's not going to be a roam around maps game like painkiller, but an arena kill as much as you can type of thing. That being said it's like 2.99 on Steam and has good reviews so it will likely be 29.99 on Switch.
As long as its $3 on Switch too. Its a pretty decent game.
bleh doesn't look that interesting
