Another upcoming Nintendo Switch release has seemingly been leaked online ahead of the official announcement.
This time it's a GameFly listing for the 2019 third-person multiplayer shooter, Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville - Complete Edition. The source itself is a game rental website that has previously revealed Switch releases like Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden and Titan Quest before the actual confirmation.
According to the listing, this Frostbite 3 engine game would be released on 19th March this year.
If you're still not convinced, last July, EA said it was bringing seven titles to the Nintendo Switch within the next 12 months. At the time, VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb said they included a remaster of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville.
Would you be interested in playing Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville on the Switch? Tell us down below.

...Too bad I stopped caring about this a long time ago, I did decide to look into it to see if anything has improved and changed about this game. Nope...still crap.
Who needs Switch Pro when we have mobile games!!!
Ugh... I really wanted to care about this, but the online population died so quickly on other consoles that I never bothered picking it up.
Plants Vs. Zombies GW2 is way better than this game. I played it the day it came out and promptly stopped.
Honestly the first Garden Warfare was the best....the sequel took out some of the charm that I liked in the first game.
If true; GIVE US THE SIMS 4 DANG IT!
this game was always weird. strange idea of plants attacking zombies
This game died already on other platforms...
I wouldn't mind.
This game is dead Like so dead that they had to fill it with AI, it was probably going to happen u know before they it died. (Also EA Killd it)
@Zacattack99 That's what I've been asking for the whole time 😣
I’d honestly rather have the first 2D Plants vs Zombies, instead.
@Dasrai they should port 2 that games is actully still alive I can still get some games in.
@SeantheDon29 Same.
@Snatcher excluding the dsiware version, that is.
@SeantheDon29 Of course
I'd like to see how it plays if this is true. Loved the original PVZ.
@JR150 I wouldnt play it, it was a really bad game its was so buggy even after early unlock. But if you really want to pour 60$ in a game that would be dead in a month or two (Also killed off by EA) then I wont stop u not my job to tell people what to buy just food for thought.
@nessisonett it's the third person shooter one, not the mobile ones
A port of the original PvZ would be pretty cool too though
@nessisonett This is not a phone game at all, and won't ever be released for phones either as it's not suitable for touch at all, and you would need a 1000$ phone to play it.
It's a full 3D Shooter designed for Gamepad and Keyboard+Mouse. Same goes for PWZ 2.
PWZ 1 were the only phone game of the 3.
I only want the original, but happy for those that want this.
What's the point in EA announcing its going to be releasing games on switch when they turn out to be ports of 2 year old games that have already died on every other system.
So that means EA is porting some version of the Frostbite engine to Switch then?
@westman98 it would seem so. Though I wouldn’t get my hopes up for one of their bigger titles that uses that engine, unless they enlisted the aid of Panic Button, of course.
Does this have an offline mode?
EDIT: Just checked, it doesn't, you need to be connected all the time to play. Pass.
@TheAwesomeBowser This is EA, sooooo.....
@nessisonett Imagine being this ignorant.
I loved the first Plants Vs Zombies on DS. Shame we aren't getting a version of that game.
I honestly would have thought they would bring Sims to Switch.
@Mr_Persona As opposed to a plumber that lives in a kingdom of mushrooms who becomes big when he eats a mushroom and has to defeat a giant firebreathing turtle-like creature to save a princess?
The first one on mobile was great then just downhill from there sadly.
I loved the original Plants vs. Zombies, but this franchise lost me when they turned it into a third-person shooter.
So this will be another of those EA games coming to Switch...??
It could've been Mass Effect, Dead Space, Dragon Age, etc, but no. "Who cares about those games? Give them Plants vs Zombies, that's what they want"...
The games dead on ps4 and the developers have stopped supporting the game with new content even though it had only been out a year.
I see absolutely no point bringing this to switch, the devs are just looking for a quick cash crab
@Joeynator3000 Didn't really answer my question, but ok.
It's strange.
Usually i beg for The Sims 4 for Switch.
But after i heard more Expansion Packs / Add Ons for console version, i stopped begging for The Sims 4 port.
I don't think it will gonna happen.
With more than 20 Add Ons, my money is not enough to buy all of them.
I already have the PS4 version with a few Add Ons i bought from PS4 Store so i'm moving on from begging the game that will never ported to Switch.
@nessisonett Dose this look like a mobile Game to you LOL?
I played the first two PvZGW on my PS4. Never tried this one. Maybe they'll add new dlc or something when it comes to Switch.
The Switch needs shooters, this is pretty good. Hope it runs and looks ok.
Ah yes, the game EA had announced content for on other systems for past September 2020, and then announced all that content was scrapped because the player base has died.
Let's port THAT ONE to Switch.
This game is so much fun.
I always wanted to play this game but it was on xbox and ps so this is niiiiice
So after ages for the community asking about Garden Warfare 3 and EA denying it is coming, no mention of it at the EA Play event around E3, literally a month later shadow drops Battle for Neighborville.
It launched at $39.99 and has some offline single player elements (similar to Garden Warfare 2) but is primarily an online game. It does have micro-transactions, they are optional and strictly cosmetic, but I think EA went for a more greedy approach then in the past with this title.
if this comes out at $60 on the Switch DO NOT BUY IT at that price!!!!!!!!! Wait until the natural course of price drops before you pick it up. Remember on Xbox and PS this game was already a budget title at launch,
As for being a fun game, it is perfect for the Nintendo Switch where shooters are rare.
I don't understand why they would do this. They announced months ago that they weren't releasing any more new content or new events for the game. The game had been out maybe a year at that point so many gave up on it, why bring it to another console? This is weird...
This game looks fun. Might be the only EA title I’ll buy on Switch (pending review of course, since I dont trust EA to make it a good port)
Everything seems to be adding up for a Partner Showcase soon, I'd guess Thursday. Shame Bowser's Fury and New Pokemon Snap info over the last week seems to have destroyed any chance of a general Direct.
I got this game on PlayStation, but because of how much online cost for PlayStation I never played online. The only reason this game died was ea it was yet again just filled with scummy micro transactions, here’s to hoping plants vs zombies as a series can stray away from ea if they ever make another shooter.
One of my favorite games from 2010s turned into another disgusting EA franchise. Cashgrab at its finest.
.... I would rather have Peggle
EA abandoned this game a year after it came out. Why would they bring it to swtich? They should bring the original plants vs zombies to switch instead
The first game was hilarious and a nice team fortress type multiplayer. Early ps4 days too so not a ton of competition. It was all downhill from there though.
Not gonna happen. Frostbite can't even run on switch.
@Supadav03 EA has some good ports like Burnout Paradise and NFS HP remastered on switch.
But I believe that this listing is false. It won't happen at all.
Gonna ignore this. EA had every chance to bring ANY Plants vs. Zombies game and they decided not to. Goes to show the extent of how much they neglected the Switch.
@SwitchplayerJohn I think it might be a spinoff of GW, Its nothing like the past two.
I just checked out the gameplay trailer for this game. Turned it off after about 20 seconds. Not for me. Such a shame as I loved the original game. I'd rather have a port of that one.
@RGB87 because investors are seeing the massive sales of the switch and asking execs why they were sleeping on the Switch. And why their kid friendly shooter wasn't on the hottest family friendly console.
I would instead prefer the original Plants vs Zombies that was on the phone. I had it on Vita and it was a blast. Would revisit again on Switch (I don't play games on the phone).
@Joeynator3000 The second game is way better than the first and third.
@TheAwesomeBowser Yes.
@SeantheDon29 dito
@SeantheDon29 same here. That's a classic
how funny... I had JUST looked at this on the Playstation Store earlier today because of the massive sale... was literally about to buy it... glad I didn't.... rather get it on Switch!🤗
@Snatcher That is incorrect. It is basically the same gameplay, with some tweaks of course. But I think you can say it diverged more from the original Garden Warfare, but I see it more as an evolution from GW2.
I do think I prefer GW2, but in terms of Giddy Park and the hub area, I think it is better then GW2's main hub.
@SwitchplayerJohn I glade some people like this game, but sadly I don't I have been playing GW since the biggining and why would u get rid of somthing that was working, like character varints I just don;t know why u would do such a thing, and the Dlc was waay to much (EA binge EA BTW) and I think it was kinda buggy and more unpolishd thin the first two, Other then that this game had alot going for it, just wish it was better done, I just think this game needed a little more time in the oven maybe a year or could have be n 5 months.
Garden Warfare 2 was better imo, after finishing the single player worlds I got bored of neighborville
@Dasrai Yeah totally agree. I would have rather seen PvZ:GW2 being ported to the Switch.
That game is way more fun, has a ton more content and gameplay features than the abomination that is called Neighborville.
There is a reason why PvZ:GW2 still is more popular and higher population that Neighborville lol. /shrug
I rather see a true successor to PvZ:GW2 in form of GW3! One can only hope.
Also, without any cross-save/cross-play... you quickly get population issues, not to mention losing all progress from other platform(s).
This is just typical EA as usual. Minimal viable product, but still charging top dollar for it! It's just disgusting and idiotic that PvZ:Neighborville doesn't have cross-play/cross-save in this day and time!
If they wanted to put out Plants VS. Zombies or Peggle on Switch, I think they'd be great games for it what with the touch screen and portable nature of it, so I'm sure I'd pick them up. But I don't understand the appeal here, people liked Pop Cap because they made fun casual games and this doesn't look anything like that.
This is kind of a must buy for me. I love PvZ on phones, and I never played these third person shooter versions. I do wish this was still a tower defense type game, but I like shooters as well.
@Vivid_viking do l look like a mario fan to you? answer is, no l'm not a fan
@Mr_Persona Actually now that you mention it you do!
That bushy moustache is very becoming.
I still play it at least 3 to 4 times a week on the PS4.... always get games in online...will definitely be picking this one up for the switch. Nothing like a bit of mindless fun!
