Nintendo has announced that its Switch Lite range will soon receive a brand new colour option – and yes, it's another kind of blue.
Joining the Yellow, Turquoise, Grey and Coral Pink systems is this new 'Blue' edition (although it looks kind of purple in some of the pics below?), which will retail at the standard Switch Lite price of $199.99. It's set to launch in Europe on 7th May, and slightly later in North America on the 21st.
Nintendo Switch Lite is designed for handheld play, making it easy to bring the wide library of Nintendo Switch games with you and transform any of life’s moments into a grand adventure. As a dedicated handheld gaming device, Nintendo Switch Lite has integrated controls and is smaller and lighter than the Nintendo Switch. It’s compatible with all the games in the Nintendo Switch library that support handheld mode.
We're sure it's not a coincidence that, in North America at least, the console is launching on the very same day as Miitopia. If you fancy a new game and a new system at the same time, that's not a bad pairing at all.

I do wish they'd be a bit more adventurous with the Switch Lite. The 3DS had so many amazing designs, it's a shame this hasn't crossed over onto the Switch.
@xmkbest Was looking for this comment haha. And to think somebody on Reddit recently spray painted his in this very specific GBA indigo - he probably would have liked this, but i don't know >how< close it actually is to the GBA's classic color.

If cloud saves worked better id for sure have a switch lite also by now. I really do like them but it's not convenient right now.

@Davzilla It's a little better now actually. You can activate auto-upload/download but I prefer auto upload only as I am paranoid overwriting a more recent save on either my lite or v2. But it does not work as well as Steam sync I suppose.

@path4smash so how easy would it be now for me to, let's say, I played Pokémon sword at home on my docked switch, but I wanna bring my switch to work (not that I would ever) then continue my story at home on the dock?
I would gladly get another lite someday as I love my turquoise switch and bring it everywhere (my first switch btw) but I always dread the day that my sticks go bad/drift. Nowadays I play less intense games on my lite fearing that the sticks may go bad soon. The forward on the left stick has a very slight response issue (ex. my character walks instead of running sometimes). For games that put a lot of stress on the sticks, I use our V2 with the split pad pro for peace of mind.

@Davzilla It would work seamlessly as long as both units have internet access to upload and download the save file. You need it set it up once under the save data cloud settings and can enable it on particular games only. In case there is a save data conflict, there will be a warning sign next to the game icon on the save data cloud settings page. There you would need to choose either to overwrite the version in the cloud repo or download the save file there to your console to resolve the conflict.

It looks even more like Gamecube purple with my tablet's blue light filter turned on.
@Davzilla And also from your example, you need to close the game on your docked console to trigger the save file upload. Then the lite would download the newer save data as long as it is connected to the internet and in sleep mode and vice versa.

Got my 6 year old daughter a Switch coral lite recently and I have to say it is rather nice. Maybe I could get the blue lite just for indies, retro games and RPGs.

@Davzilla @Kiz3000 Oh man sorry I totally forgot! Pokemon is one of the few games that does not support cloud saves! I remember Splatoon does not too. Their reasoning is something about anti cheat or something.

This colour gives me such strong nostalgia, I think it reminds me of my GBA and I'm sure that's not a coincidence.
Dang I've wanted to get a switch mini to replace my 2017 model switch for a while now as it has been overheating and acting clunky, and I just got a job so I was planning on getting a coral pink switch lite when I get my next paycheck, but now I don't know if I'd rather have this or the pink. In addition, the switch pro feels near so if I get a lite I'll probably end up buying a pro too

@Bomberman64 it is infuriating knowing how many games NSO could feature but doesn't. gb, gbc, gba, n64, and gc all should have switch online support by now, or at least the handhelds.

@VoidofLight good point although they had the same issue when the first switch released, and they had it before the lite was announced too. In general, parts have been sparse for Nintendo these days. I could be wrong but I've heard that apple in particular tends to have a strong foot in the parts industry in terms of contacts and suppliers prioritizing them, so companies like Nintendo struggle to get parts when apple buys them first
I like the color but I still am not downgrading my Switch.
I will continue to wait for news of an upgrade.

Like both were single screen, rectangular gaming handhelds that had the cartridge go into the top of the system. So that is actually interesting
Best Switch Lite design so far in my book. Though I am quite partial to the color blue. It beats out turquoise IMO.
The color scheme reminds me a little of the original GBA. If we could get an indigo Lite, I'd definitely get it!

Yeah they should have made the Switch Lite compatible with a dock, and just not sold it with a dock to keep the lower price. It loses the key element that makes it a "Switch" without being able to switch between handheld and TV. Oh well.
That looks nice but I'd never buy a Lite, when the regular Switch is better.
And all I wanted was black joycons. I hate the horrid colours these things come in. Couldn't get the grey ones when I first got my Switch, then the same again last year when I bought joycons, had to settle for garish blue and yellow as the least offensive option. It just reinforces the 'Nintendo is for kids' thing when there's no standard black/white/silver options like any other tech (or when there is, it's in very short supply, which rather indicates there's a demand for it).

Not the biggest fan of blue but It looks good on the Switch lite. I need to get the Coral one first before I decide on picking up one of these. With 4 Switch Lites already that I don't play as much since I'm playing docked more often, these will probably sit in a case mostly unused. At least they will look nice lol.
Looks more like the indigo used for the GameCube/GBA back in the day. It still looks cool though...and quite nostalgic for me too!
@SigourneyBeaver Yeah I think it is, I once asked a question in the Switch thread if it's possible to keep the same friend code on both systems. You just need to be connected online on your non-primary system to play your games. You can make it so that your save data is synced on both the Switch and Switch Lite, as well.

l think l will get this color. I was going to get the boring pink one and nice gray one but l like this color. Reminds me of my old dsi.

No additional function, just different colour plastic and yet some people will buy it for the prestige of 'new'. Nintendo gets more like Apple every day.
The point must be: “Does the new Nintendo Switch analog sticks come with drift issues for free?”... It is absolutely unbelievable that Nintendo put so much effort in the creation of new colors variants and special editions for Switch Lite or Joy-Cons itself, but don’t come up with the solution for the biggest problem they have in decades.
I’d have 4 switches if Nintendo just had a single sign on and easy save transfer.
The Switch lite screen could have been bigger, I mean, there are more room for it so why not?
