At Nintendo's E3 Spotlight event everyone's' favorite pink puffball made his Switch debut. In his latest adventure Kirby will be "recruiting enemies as helpers" and will also use his trademark copy abilities such as "Sword, Fire and Water" before joining "forces with up to three friends for a different kind of team-up action".
You can watch the reveal trailer and leave us your thoughts below:
Kirby is slated for release on the Nintendo Switch in 2018.

Prime 4's teaser aside, this may have been my favorite announcement. The power combinations reminded me of Kirby 64 and the partner system reminded me of Kirby Superstar, two of my absolute favorite Kirby games. And seeing the whole thing running in HD was phenomenal. I cannot wait for this game. Looks like pure, unadulterated fun.
Yeah same
Wait, this is incorrect.
This was supposed to be Kirby Air Ride 2.
I'm sad.
Remember that cancelled Kirby Gamecube game that laid the foundation for Return to Dreamland?
This looks quite a lot like that, but even better.
As a serious Kirby fan, this trailer made me squeal in excitement. It's literally combining Kirby 64 and Kirby Super Star! You could not get any better than this!
I'll be honest: not sold on this. It looks beautiful and looks to be a proper 2D Kirby, but I was expecting the Kirby Switch debut to be a proper 3D title - and I think the developers sort of alluded to that in an interview a while ago. More of the same is good sometimes but I was expecting a new direction for this series.
@ottospooky I was hoping for something more like that too.
I thought this was a Wiimake
the kirbs is always a good thing to have
you can combine powers like in kirby 64!!
This looks a little underwhelming if I'm honest. Looks just like a higher res Return to Dreamland. I'm sure it'll be a good game as they always are but I wish they'd done more with the graphics.
But yeah Ninty just won E3, I saw more games than Sony and MS shown over there combined 2 hours and 45 minutes, Scorpio is a day 1 buy for me, I am very excited to be an xbox fan again, Sony bored me to tears and Nintendo made my teenage sel freak the F out
Happy to have all 3 but my Switch has became my favourite right now, lol
They just kept pouring it on . Great job .. they need to get Switch manufacturing up to speed .. gonna sell some systems ! So glad I got lucky and got mine semi early !
What Kirby curse?
Nice. Hopefully it'll be a step up from Returns to Dream Land.
I love Kirby!
@RupeeClock Not surprising since it uses the same engine. The two 3DS Kirby games also uses this engine.
@mystman12
Maybe it happen later as we did get metroid 2d for the switch just now.Still Kirby looks great
This looks absolutely wonderful I don't even have a switch yet and I am already starting a backlog list lol
Kirby: The power of love. Coming out 2018
My favorite announcement of the showcase by far! It looks like they finally went ahead and made that cancelled kirby game that was supposed to be on the gamecube. I also noticed that animal partners might be back so I'm pretty happy about that
I honestly can't wait for this - it's going to be one of my fave games next year!
Gotta say though: Please let there be some elements of Amazing Mirror or Return to Dreamland in this one. Online would be great too because none of my friends would play this with me!
I seem to recall the last few Kirby games doing very very well.
What exactly do you mean by Kirby curse, oh mysterious sub-headline.
Freaking finally, a Kirby game on a console.
Takes the cake for being able to combine abilities. Loved that so much, and despite kirby 64 being a meh game overall (too easy), messing with the combined abilities was awesome.
Should be my first (real) kirby game. First i was worried that its a coop game but luckily its not. Looks beautiful and that broom kirby is definitely my favourite^^
I'm pretty sure Nintendo just won E3....
I am absolutely overjoyed! I was not expecting to see anything of a Kirby Switch game this year, nor for it look like an absolute dream game! I'm seeing it though and it does look like an absolute dream Kirby game; elements of so many great Kirby games poured into it.
I think it's an absolute impossibility for Nintendo or anyone else at E3 to showcase anything now that can beat this! It's Kirby Switch!
@mikegamer well there's been one on every home console Nintendo has released so...
Ya gotta love Kirby, still keeping the co-op multiplayer alive. Hopefully next year we get a Donkey Kong Country co-op sequel too.
Ya can't go wrong with Kirby.
The Super Star buddy mechanic, coupled with the modern style?
Sold.
@ottospooky To be fair the last traditional one was in 2011.
Anyways, can't go wrong with Kirby! They're consistently high quality.
Kirby, Kirby, Kirby, thats a name you should know
Kirby, Kirby, Kirby, he's the star of the show
He's more than you think, he's got maximum pink
Kirby, Kirby, Kirby's the one!
He's comin' right back at ya
He's comin' right back at ya
Give it all that you've got, take your very best shot
He'll send it right back at ya for sure, yeah!
NME Salesman: "How can I help you, King DDD?"
King Dedede: "I need a monster to clobber that there Kirby!"
NME Salesman: "That's what we do best here at NME!"
Escargoon: "You'd better get it with a money back guarantee!"
Oh, Kirby, Kirby, Kirby, saving the day
Kirby, Kirby, Kirby, he's here to stay
Don't be fooled by his size, you won't believe your eyes!
Kirby! (Kirby), Kirby! (Kirby), Kirby! (Kirby)
Kirby, Kirby, Kirby's the one!
Right back at ya! Yeah!
For a second there I thought this would end up being Retro's mystery project.
I'm bored of Kirby. It's expected that we get a new Kirby every year.
This game looks like the cancelled Kirby game on GCN. And I love it!
Definitely can't wait for this one !
I saw this and I was like: YEAHHHHHH! Who doesn't love Kirby and between this and the new 3DS game, he's been getting a lot of love. And I'm 5000000% fine with that.
I loved Planet Robobot. If this is half as good then we're in for a treat.
@thesilverbrick True it does really give off that Kirby 64 vibe.
Finally Water comes back
You can never go wrong with a Kirby game.
i HOPE they add in an HD sup'd up version of Kirby Fighters and Kirby Clash
@yorkshirened @smaman the kirby curse is the tendency for kirby games not to come to a system until the tail-end of its lifespan, which hopefully this isn't.
@mystman12 I would commit unspeakable acts for kirby's air ride 2
@NewAdvent just because you are interested in the games doesn't mean other people aren't. Pokemon + metroid conformation made Nintendo win anyway.
RIP my wallet
This is going to be sooo great!
A new Kirby and a new Yoshi. It's like 2015 all over again.
This was a surprise! 4 player co-op adventure!
@WaveBoy Nintendo logic: happy to essentially re-hash 2D Kirby again and again but won't make a new F-Zero because they apparently can't provide anything new.
I'll give it a shot but I'm surprised it wasn't 3D. Of course I guess I'll give it a chance. Gameplay is most important but 2d has to be done EXTREMELY well to feel like a modern classic. Very few games reach that mark.
As an aside, what Kirby curse is there?
This and the new Yoshi game will finally make me buy a Switch!
I don't want a switch but I love kirby this is hard.
@sonicmeerkat You know you're just itching to buy a Switch now...lol.

That last one is supposed to be a thumbs up. And yes, I love me some Kirby.
@ap0001 thanks for the explanation!
It looks fantastic, and its nice they are celebrating Kirby's anniversary like this.
They're bringing big franchises this year - Kirby, Yoshi, Mario, Zelda - definitively a step up from the Wii U first year!
Kirby by the numbers. Pretty underwhelming really, as with that half asleep Yoshi game.
This looked very weak. Its as if they where thinking: We take just that old Gamecube-prototype, minus the riding mechanic. Yup, multiplayer Kirby...that's all.
I'm still excited about this, I mean, it's home console Kirby (and I no longer feel so bad about missing out on Kirby's Adventure Wii), but it looks so bland. Hopefully they'll announce some new mechanics come launch. It's still about a year from release.
Graphics are really lacking I'm afraid.
If you could have online multiplayer then I'd be a lot more interested but I highly doubt it.
