Re: Gaming Culture Magazine Makes Strong Start on Kickstarter

Meh, seems destined to become a "haven" for indie developers to try to put over their often ambitious--yet even more often half-baked--"art" projects.

...But, at least they're up front about it, what with the name. More candour than you've come to expect from contemporary video game journalism...

Re: Feature: Reflecting on Four Years of the Wii U

It's a bit like the GC, but unlike it, at least half of the games worth getting on the console are tied to the eshop, for which server support will inevitably die; perhaps sooner, perhaps later.

It's the most valuable console in that it incorporates every manner of poor mistake Nintendo are wont to make; mistakes they MUST learn from if they are to have any sort of chance at recapturing the respect and admiration of the true gaming community.

Re: Nintendo Picks Up Mobile / Handheld Nominations for The Game Awards 2016

Cancer Royale with Cheese and its F2P smartphone ilk renders these "awards" a joke and insult to gamers everywhere. They should fade away and classify themselves as obsolete.

Worst of all is how this highlights what a crummy year it's been for anything outside remasters and other re-releases. As poor and hopelessly broad the choices are, I've a hard time thinking of alternatives. At least Firewatch has a chance of getting some well-deserved dues. And braindeadpshewpshewpie's name is nowhere to be found, mercifully.

Small victories...

Re: Review: BLOC (Wii U eShop)

@ironside1911 That's a huge waste of the Wii U's limited storage space if ever I saw it. Knowing amateur developers with emphasis on Amateur, the download data will probably be so bloated and unoptimized it might well take an entire GB.

4K is basically a scam, especially on consoles. The less said about it the better.

As for resolution vs. framerate, it really is a game to game type thing. Some just work better with one or the other. Super Mario Sunshine, for one, should've gone for FPS. It wouldn't have very solved its litany of other assorted problems but it definitely would have helped its lethargic pace.

MGS3 on the other hand, wasn't much helped by 60fps. The cinematic quality suffered for it, highlighting awkward character animations and more so the ridiculously outdated lip movements, which were unimpressive even back in 2005.

(...If nothing else at least the 3DS remake fixed that particular problem, if only by lowering the framerate to the near-20s, and not even consistently at that.)

Ideally it should be choice based, like GTA Vice City on the PC way back in the day.

Re: Hardware Review: NES Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System

Ruining peoples' eyesight by forcing them to sit close to the TV is part of Japan's plot to create an opportunity to bomb Pearl Harbor. Ergo, previous attempts at VC emulation were deliberately made lackluster to ensure the Mini's success. And the stock shortage is to sow conflict and distrust.

It won't be long before their operation is ready to take wing. All will be chaos, and contemporary cartoons will be transmogrified into offensive propaganda. Hope you're looking forward to seeing Steven Universe take on slanty-eyed, bucktoothed caricatures, 'cause it's happening!
