Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Source and Details Gain Some Traction

Solid_Stannis

Hey, I'm taking everything I hear with a pinch of salt these days. Suffice to say, my biggest worry is that "NX" will be some sort of codename and that the final product will be named, like, the "Super Wii" or something. They need to let the Wii branding die or it isn't going to matter how powerful the console is or isn't.

People shouldn't be "afraid" to state that the Heavenly Light of BOING! hasn't entered their hearts... as long as it's the truth. True MOTHER fans will not respond in anger or engage in petty hostilities; they know that sooner or later, its goodly and imitable grace will come to all, in time.

Someday, you will grasp the true form.

Re: Video: See the GameCube HDMI Mod Thrash Cheaper HDMI Converters in Video & Audio Quality

Yeah, as much as I'm anti-PC "master race" and all that, I think at that price point I'd rather stick to Dolphin, especially what with its ability to remove the HUD completely through GameShark codes. I'm not kidding when I say this is a function every game should have, but especially ones with heavily intrusive ones such as TWW. Once you've got the muscle memory down pat, it's just a waste of resolution space.

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Bayonetta 1 & 2

Solid_Stannis

On this I'm as stubbornly unshakeable as my namesake: Platinum Games, and by extension Bayonetta and its high style/low substance ilk, tend to attract an undesirable element to the Nintendo brand. Getting involved with that lot is not something Nintendo needs at present, or ever. Just fighting the good fight here; I've said my piece.

Re: Game of the Year: Nintendo Life's Reader Awards 2015

Solid_Stannis

Not exactly a banner year for Nintendo this. As awesome as Splatoon was, it had the long-lasting appeal of a wad of bark gum. As much as I do love it and it's the greatest Zelda game and all that, it's kind of sad to have to yield GOTY to a remake, even if by default.

Unless something changes right fast, 2016 looks equally dark and full of nothing. Retro-Sonytendo is the only way to live!

Re: Review: The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy's Grand Adventure (Wii U)

Solid_Stannis

This was a huge disappointment for me. You have Vince Guaraldi's awesome music but settle for the blandest by-numbers cookie cutter guff available. And despite the beautiful impressionist sky backgrounds of the specials you end up with with generic temple and jungle settings. This gave me creepy shivers that took me back to the blatant cash-in games of the '90s like Mighty Max and its ilk.

The nicest thing I can say is that it at least provided a mostly painless and profitable set of trophies. (And Wii U consumers don't even get this small mercy.) And that's pretty much one of the most depressing positive points you can give about a game.

Ugh, good grief, etc.

Re: Video: Sit Back and Relax With This Jazz Version of the Pokémon Theme

Solid_Stannis

Eh, not a big fan of deep-voiced jazz singers like this lady so I bailed out of this one in a hurry. No offense to any of the skilled musicians involved, but it's just not me.

That, and I loathe the Pokemon theme song as a composition. The chord progressions are intentionally designed to be annoyingly ear-wormy and catchy, which spells doom for your song's longevity if not otherwise sonically interesting.

Re: Zelda Fans Vent Anger At Nintendo of America Over Doge Memes In Tri Force Heroes

Solid_Stannis

Even if Tri Force Heroes wasn't the bland, obvious throwaway that it is, my reaction would roughly equate merely to quickly dissipating disappointment that the localization team would choose to make a pop-cultural reference that'll make it seem dated right fast. Meh.

Oh, and surely there are better things for which to criticize this disappointment of a game? Much mispriority. Such fail.

Wow.

Re: Talking Point: Tatsumi Kimishima Is A Safe Pair Of Hands In Changing Times

Solid_Stannis

I'm not sure how much I immediately trust someone with such inexorable ties to monetary affairs. Bur he might also provide a more grounded viewpoint that the N really needs.

The world is yours, Nintendo, if you choose to take it. You have the best first-party games out there and have done so for 30 years, but more importantly, you safeguard the heart and soul of gaming. There may be an answer, yet.

Re: Reminder: It's Super Mario's 30th Anniversary

Solid_Stannis

It's still as much fun today as it was 30 years ago. It's just such a genuine, wholehearted gaming experience (unless you're talking the subsequent remake that totally ruined the platforming physics). I'll gladly complete it for the 108th time in its honor. Let's, uhh, go.
