Re: Game Dev Tycoon Is Coming To Switch With Cross-Save Functionality

Skunkfish

I wasn't too keen on this one whereas I loved Game Dev Story. I bought for PC and was having a reasonable time but the sales for my games were getting worse and worse.

It turns out it was because I'd fluked a great game early on, and whatever algorithm they use to generate game sales expects each game to be better than the previous one. That completely destroyed me and I soon ran out of money. I stopped playing after that...

Re: Nintendo Provides Another Update About Its Development Schedule

Skunkfish

The reason Nintendo is not announcing games early is because they're already struggling to supply enough hardware to meet demand. Announcing big titles normally leads to a big bump in hardware sales, but that's not going to happen at the moment. I suspect they'll announce further in advance when the hardware is less supply constrained.

Re: Angry Players Are Starting To Review-Bomb Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Skunkfish

@Chaoticwhizz I was half-way to agreeing with you, until I realised that the game only came out on Friday so any users posting review scores already haven't exactly taken their time to play the game thoroughly before posting their scores. I'd be amazed if anyone has enjoyed anywhere near the full number of (time-locked) experiences the game has to offer...

Re: Angry Players Are Starting To Review-Bomb Animal Crossing: New Horizons

@FullmetalB I take into consideration the critique of critics whose opinions I trust. And the general aggregated Metacritic score is a reasonable indicator as to a games quality, very unlikely to be an absolute stinker if the game is rated 80+. But still, personal preferences and irritants need to be factored in...

EDIT: Also, unlike the faceless Metacritic user reviews, at least MOST of the professional critics have actually played the game

Re: Feature: "Nintendo Killed My Son!" - Pulling Apart A Tragic Headline More Than Two Decades On

Skunkfish

@Razzy It did read a bit like that, with bits such as 'Christmas 1992 saw Nintendo finally fighting with Sega on even terms after years of struggling to dent its rival's dominance in the UK, and the last thing it needed was bad press' and 'it's impossible to underestimate the shock of seeing that lurid front-page proclamation back in 1993, at a time when Nintendo was only just emerging from Sega's shadow in the UK after years of playing second fiddle to the Master System and Mega Drive.'

Re: Switch Lite Added To Joy-Con Drift Class Action Lawsuit

Skunkfish

@Woosh193 I'm sure you do have a drifting Joycon. What I'm saying is, it's impossible to know how common the issue is from people's comments on the internet.

If a hundred people post videos of drifting Lites tomorrow they could be the only hundred drifting devices out of half a million (a 0.02% failure rate) or they could all be made up....

Re: Rumour: Dataminer Supposedly Uncovers Tech Specs For New And Improved Switch

Switch - 4310 mAh battery (2.5 - 6.5 hours)
Switch Lite - 3570 mAh battery (3 - 7 hours).

Whilst some of the energy saving will come from the smaller screen, a big chunk of it must come from the processor revision.

The big question is, if they're using this new chip in the regular Switch, will they be shrinking the battery and giving us similar battery life, or leave the battery the same and give us longer battery life? fingers crossed

@johncalmc

Based on the sales figures it was a smart choice keeping it full price. I actually can't imagine the sales would be much higher at a budget price and Ninty would have lost out on hundreds of millions in revenue...
