If you've ever fancied yourself as a football manager, then you can't go past the series of the same name.
Alongside the latest mainline experience, Sega and Sports Interactive have also released Football Manager 2022 Touch - the latest portable version of the title for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
This new version of the game includes "overhauled Nintendo Switch controller functionality" and an enhanced user interface - to help you focus on the most essential parts of management, tactics, and transfers.
Other new additions this season include a new Data Hub - bringing together all of your team's game analysis in one place, and powered by stats that real clubs use. There's also increased "match authenticity" - including a remodelled animation engine and other enhancements like an improved pressing system. Media will now also be more "responsive" - allowing you to have a happier squad.
There are apparently "many more features"- big and small, for players to discover throughout the game. And the latest iteration includes 123 leagues from 53 of the world's biggest football nations.
Football Manager 2022 Touch is out now and will set you back $39.99 / £29.99 and the file size is around 3.8 GB. For more information check out the Switch eShop game page.

Shame it’s just Touch, the full game is just too addictive. I’ve taken Bromley to the Premier League, I’ve won the Champions League with Hartlepool, who’s next? I’m thinking maybe go a league lower.
I feel like a broken record, but I ain’t touching this until it goes physical. At AU$55, I’ve seen physical releases launch for less than that. Plus, one would think that SEGA would consider swooping in and poaching the disenchanted FIFA audience, as there aren’t any other real-world football simulators on the platform.
Will this get reviewed?
Forty bucks for a mobile game. Reminds me of angry birds Star Wars being 60 bucks on console
Just to be clear, this is not the mobile version of the game. It's streamlined version of the full game, with the media, team talks, squad dynamics sections removed which allows for faster progression through the seasons.
This year's version also allows for 5 nations to be loaded, instead of the old 3 limit - which the community was asking for.
@YusseiWarrior3000 It's not a mobile phone game at all. This is meant for touchscreen laptops and tablets and is a streamlined version of the game
@Silly_G Is there any physical version, in recent years, of the football manager series?
@jsty3105 : PC only. 2020 definitely included a disc. I believe 2021 did as well (as nothing on the packaging indicated otherwise), but Sega decided to be extra-stingy with 2022 and only include a Steam key in the case.
@YusseiWarrior3000 Because there isn’t a ‘console’ version to begin with. This is a port of the PC/tablet version tailored to Switch. Just like the Xbox Series S/X version is port.
@YusseiWarrior3000 that's just a bizarre line of thought. I'm genuinely perplexed. It's a slimmed down PC game. It's ported from pc not console
@Silly_G ah thanks for that clarification!
@YusseiWarrior3000 welcome!
@blindsquarel the mobile version isn't available for the Switch. The mobile version is for phones only
The controls on switch killed FM2020 for me. They were really bad.
@dewokkel true, once I realized that I had to press the right stick to have the mouse arrow it at least became playable. FM22 has the same control scheme.
Tempting, I enjoyed this on Switch a few years ago but I dipped back into the full version (FM2021) on Mac and it might be hard to go back to Touch....
FM 2021 Touch is the game I played the most on Switch. Not perfect but addictive for sure. Might buy this one too
@jsty3105
Alright thanks for the info. It still looks like a mobile game in terms of graphics
@blindsquarel too bad for the generation of graphics-first gamers. Then again, Championship Manager aka Football Manager has always been a game of looking at spreadsheets. 4k 120fps gamers may treat this game as an eyesore.
😅 This series has had ppl complaining about its graphics for about three decades now. Nothing new under the sun it seems
Got it myself - bought every version since CM on the Amiga so safe to say I love the game for 20 odd years - it’s good but so hard to win unless you cheat and take someone else tactics, my PC is a bit slow now and playing this on a switch lite and it runs fine, just hope I can find a tactic soon where I don’t have 10
shots on target and my opposition have 1 shot and I lose 1-0
Taking Forest Green to the Prem!
