UK physical chart data is now in for the week ending 23rd October, showing the return of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the lead Switch exclusive, with Metroid Dread falling back but remaining in the top 10.
The entire top three otherwise has a familiar feel, with FIFA 22 and Far Cry 6 maintaining first and second places; 9% of those FIFA sales are the 'Legacy' edition on Switch. There weren't many notable new releases last week from a Switch perspective, though My Friend Peppa Pig had an underwhelming launch as it made its debut in 26th place, with over three quarters of those sales being the Switch version.
As was the case last week the Switch has five exclusives or console-specific versions in the top 10, continuing an impressive run of occupying half of those top places.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:
Last Week | This Week | Title |
1 | 1 | FIFA 22 |
2 | 2 | Far Cry 6 |
5 | 3 | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe |
8 | 4 | Animal Crossing: New Horizons |
7 | 5 | Minecraft (Switch Edition) |
- | 6 | The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes |
3 | 7 | Metroid Dread |
9 | 8 | Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury |
6 | 9 | Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales |
10 | 10 | Grand Theft Auto V |

Oh no, Peppa Pig will become bacon at this rate.
Good to see Dread still holding in on the top 10.
Lol, its really crazy to see mario kart staying on the top 10 list for so long! Imagine what a new mario kart would do.
Mario Kart 8 so high in the charts usually indicates Switch hardware had a decent week
@MS7000
I would like to see the unpopular games got some attention.
I'm sure Peppa Pig still have their audiences.
Peppa Pig on Top 10 is like an anomaly in video gaming.
It's just like I said months ago.

Parents would rather go for the cheap Android apps than a £40 Switch game.
@GrailUK
I would like to see peoples can appreciate another racing kart games by different company so Mario Kart is not the only worthy racing kart to be played.
@RupeeClock
I'm not a parent but if I have chance, I will pick £40 kiddie games.
@Anti-Matter It's also a question of how much relevancy Peppa Pig has these days compared to newer pre-school/family IPs.
Bluey seems to be the new hotness, and I suspect it would perform well if the rights holders struck while the iron's hot.
Mario Kart 8 is just a beast, and will become the best seller of the series so far, and that will be just taking the Switch sales into account.
Getting close if not already the best selling, at 37 million as of last reported sales figures.
@Anti-Matter ikr You do have to feel for the Metroid fans a little.
Two Wii U ports continue to dominate the charts.
I’m sure there’s a US Office meme for that.
@Anti-Matter I would offer that is up to other developers to do it. But it's hard to out do the game that kick started the genre. It's quite authoritive in that respect lol.
Do people not already own Mario kart?
Who are buying these copies?
The Wii u games are doing well.
@ShinyWitten the people who don’t own Mario kart 8 are the people that are buying it. To make it a little simpler for you. People that buy a new switch often buy Mario kart. Hope that makes it easier to understand
@RupeeClock which I totally agree on. Parent of four here. One of my kids is going through the pepper pig craze now but the £2.49 I bought for the iPad was good enough. Its pepper pig game, 40 pounds game for a 4 year olds which gives you less than the free apps on apps store
Any news how dying light did?
@Player_One
A £40 kiddie game feel more reasonable for me than free mobile games.
A legit copy of video game in physical feel more valuable for me than a digital only F2P mobile games with no physical release.
Physical rules.
#keepgoingphysical 🤟
This makes me wanna play some Mario Kart...
@Anti-Matter I didn’t say that.
40 pounds pepper pig game vs 2.49 pepper pig game with similar content. If your a parent of a child that likes pepper pig games. Which one will you buy the child.
MK8U must have the highest attach rate of any game in history by this point.
@ShinyWitten
<waves from Grand Theft Auto V>
@Jaguar_Wong
Aside from maybe Wii sport lol
@Player_One
"If your a parent of a child that likes pepper pig games, which one will you buy the child ?"
I will choose the PS4 / Switch version in physical release instead with £40 price.
Definitely will never pick any mobile games even for Free. Zero support for mobile games.
I want to show my bold statement to support physical gaming from video game consoles / handhelds.
@Anti-Matter Download the free one and then use that £40 to buy them an actual GOOD game for their console. Peppa Pig is never going to be anything more than shovelware.
@Anti-Matter ok. That’s great have fun
Well.
It’s not as if youngsters are waiting in line for the release of Peppa Pig.
That’s something parents will buy over the months to come, when they happen to see it in stores.
Peppa Pig is the type of the game that will sell extremely little at launch but will have relatively strong legs as parents with very young children start buying holiday gifts.
Metroid Dread UK retail sales:
> Week 1: ~23,000
> Week 2: ~8,500
> Week 3: ~3,600
For Mario Kart to get a bump that must be first time Switch owners that got an OLED. Same with AC. Putting more green on those evergreens!
@ShinyWitten Switch hardware sells seven days a week, MK8D has a high attach rate so new Switch owners means more sales of Mario Kart and all the heavy hitters.
At the current rate 3DWorld + Bowsers Fury could end up as one of the best selling 3D Marios
@DTFaux Bluey is awesome!
Those four evergreen Switch titles in the top 10 are impressive (MK, AC, 3D World, Minecraft), dominating half of the top charts
I bought Peppa Pig for my daughters and it is actually well made and good for the audience.
@Skunkfish agree 😂
Peppa Pig is a family kids game. Like Just Dance, which targets a similar audience, these games typically chart quite low and then rise over the Christmas period.
Peppa Pig is not a game people pre-order and rush out to by day one.
The install base for MK8 Deluxe is like what…45 million?
Can we get some DLC and keep this train running? Literally every switch gets Mario Kart or Animal Crossing when bought now.
Nintendo LOVES money, so how about some DLC that’s not for the mobile game? Geeez…just port the mobile game to the Switch version! We’ll gladly pay!
Pretty impressive to see Metroid still in the top 10 in week 3.
@Outerdragon according to another site it came in at position 32.
@Serialsid thanks so at least the switch version had some impact on its charting.
@ShinyWitten its a very popular bundle game for anyone buying the system new
As a new Switch owner I'll definitely be buying all the first party hits. Having a great time with Mario Odyssey it honestly feels like I picked up where I left off with Mario 64.
Loving Ori and the Blind forest as well but I might need another Switch to play them on as my wife loves Animal Crossing so much, Thankfully I can play my PS5 when she's on that !
Honestly I kinda ***** hate MK8 Deluxe
@MightyDemon82 Welcome dude, you have a wealth of awesome games to pick from at this point. It's a great little console aint it?
@Draz Thanks, it sure is. Can't wait to get my hands on stuff like Breath of the Wild, Metroid Dread and Octopath Traveller!
@Dr_Lugae True I think Mario 3d will sell more than Mario Odyssey
@MightyDemon82 All three of those are awesome pick ups! A few suggestions on the indie side would be Darkwood (it's Halloween after all, play in the dark with headphones!), Huntdown, Fast RMX, Monster Boy, Stardew Valley, Dex, Blazing Chrome, Inmost, Untitled Goose Game. The list is endless XD.
