Update: Good news, folks! The Free Trial for Overcooked 2 has now also been confirmed for North America!
Original Article (Mon 8th Feb, 2021 15:45 GMT): Nintendo is giving Switch owners the chance to check out the wonderful Overcooked 2 in its entirety for free later this week.
Team17's crazy, chaotic, co-op cooking simulator is the latest to be included in Nintendo's Game Trials series. These limited-time events let Switch Online subscribers download and play a full game while the offer is live, meaning that unlike the one or two levels usually offered by a free demo, you could theoretically beat the entire game without spending a single penny.
The Free Trials offer will be live 10th - 16th February in Europe, although no news on a similar trial has been confirmed for North America just yet. We'll make sure to update this article if that changes.
Simply head to the 'Nintendo Switch Online' section of the eShop to find it.
We'd say that Overcooked 2 is an easy recommendation even at full price, so this is an absolute must-play opportunity for those who haven't already checked the game out. Will you be giving it a go? Let us know in the comments.

Cool they’re doing this.
I picked this up during the last sale for 12 bucks and next time it’s on sale you should too.
Yes it looks fun
I'm really enjoying how demos are making a comeback and GameTrials are becoming more common. It's helped me decide on so many games I've been on the fence about.
Not a game I'd buy but I'll give this a quick spin.
Same, I have a quick question though I'm quite sure they are just customization options but do different chefs have different abilities?
Awesome game. A week is more than enough time to beat it if you don't go for all the stars on the missions.
Of course Europe.
Not all Switch owners, as stated in the title, only paying Nintendo Online subscribers, as stated in the article.
Not all Switch owners pay for NO
All paying NO subscribers have a Switch
Title should reflect that.
If my experience with the first game (in co-op, no less!) is any indication, playing the ENTIRETY of Overcooked in a week is a bit of wishful thinking. Then again, maybe the title here is talking about a starkly different skill level. But you'll still be going through half a dictionary's worth of expletives you never thought you knew.😄
@rjejr Chill out. I think most people have NSO. If they don't then that's their problem for being so cheap.
@FroZtedFlakerZz The chefs are just cosmetic - no special abilities, at least when I last played
Co-op? No thanks, homie don't play multiplayers
Can you play this single player or online? I live alone in a pretty remote place by myself so.... xD
@Broforce You tell me to chill out for correcting an oversight then call people cheap for not paying for something they don't want or need?
Think I won't be taking any advice from you, thanks anyway.
If you want to play this trial then you need NSO, obviously.
@Broforce Bro I don’t have NSO out of principle. I own four switches. Clearly I can afford their crappy service. But I’m not rewarding Nintendo with my money when they didn’t earn it.
@sixrings Have fun with your dead consoles.
@Broforce how exactly are my consoles dead. They work great for my Mario kart, splatoon, luigis mansion, zombie army, lab parties.
"Switch Owners Can Soon Play Overcooked 2 In Its Entirety For Free (For A Limited Time)"
Well THAT'S certainly a complicated way of saying "Overcooked! 2 is Getting a Demo!"
@sixrings For what it costs, its a very fair service.
If you dont want to play online, or not into vintage NES and SNES games, well sure, maybe its not for you. I'll gladly spend those 20$ just for Tetris 99 and Mario 35 alone, they are awesome.. Nintendo´s service its doing good enough for worrying about the few people that dont care,
@NathanTheAsian its not really a Demo, more of a timed trial. Its not the same.
@sixrings Most of the games you mentioned are much better played online.
@Zequio
I'm well aware of the difference between a demo and a trial. In fact, I've played the Overwatch trial more than enough to know.
I'm just pointing out that the title is overexaggerated for what it's worth, almost as if it wanted to be CLICKBAIT.
@Broforce had online for a year. I didn’t find that to be the case for anything but splatoon. I’m not paying yearly just to play splatoon.
@Zequio Tetris 99 is good. There’s no doubt. That said nintendo is doing the bare minimum to reward its nso subscribers. I’d much rather wii u online.
@rjejr I suppose you can say "NO" when talking about the online service, am I right? For the record, it's called Nintendo SWITCH Online.
To be fair about the pricing, Nintendo has been pretty generous with free NSO trials on My Nintendo. Yes, you typically have to pay for NSO to get these trials, but Nintendo has generally been generous enough to give people free 1-week trials whenever there are multiple events/demos/trials going on at the same time. The last free NSO trial given out was just this past January, for Splatoon 2, Monster Hunter Rise, and Tetris 99.
Even without the special event trials, Nintendo gives out 1-week trials on the eShop and My Nintendo, by default. If you add up the weeks, you can get up to 3 weeks in total, which I'd say is pretty generous enough for an online service that doesn't offer much.
@rjejr It confirms that in the article.
Nice birthday present for me from Team17 - thanks guys!
Overcooked helped me with my confidence. Being an introverted antisocial and insecure person it was me who was ordering my friends around. It felt good haha
I'm gonna try it out, but not living with anyone who plays games, I'm not expecting any good experience from it solo, which is a shame, given how much praise this game gets
@NathanTheAsian Does the free trial of NO (that's what I've been calling it since it was announced, no going back for me now) work for these games trials? I've had free trials of NO before and some items only worked w/ a paid subscription, not the free NO trials.

@Adnanilyas21 "It confirms that in the article."
Yes, the article confirms that the title is incorrect, that was my point, thanks for agreeing.
Overcooked 2 Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial also confirmed for North America. Lets gooo boyssss.
@rjejr
Yes, some items are locked behind the actual paid subscription, such as the boosts that you can get for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
However, when it comes to game trials, Nintendo usually lets the NSO trial-players access the game trial as well, NOT TO MENTION Nintendo sometimes gives out the game trial with the intention of advertising NSO.
Don't you think calling it "Nintendo Online" sounds weird? I don't know about you, but for me it doesn't fit well alongside PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and even Nintendo Network.
I already have this game. Can I get the Muppet Swedish chef instead?
NSO game trials is the reason I found one of my favorite Switch games Disgaea 5:Complete
@NathanTheAsian "Don't you think calling it "Nintendo Online" sounds weird?
Well if this article can have a title not even mentioning that you need NSO to get the trial, only that you are a Switch owner, then why should we have to say NSO online when this service only applies to the Switch? Unless you know of some other Nintendo console right now that you need the service to play online?
The word I am looking for is REDUNDANT. If the paid subscription service only applies to Switch, then I shouldn't need to say Nintendo Switch Online, the Switch part is understood.
Playstation has a Playstation 1, 2, 3 4, and 5, and PSP and PS Vita may have had it as well. So Playstation Plus.
When Nintendo's next console comes out, (not the New Switch or Switch Pro, the next gen one after that) and Nintendo being Nintneod they name it Nintendo Wafflemaker or something like that, wont' it be weird to pay for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription when you don't even own a Switch, you are just playing on your Wafflemaker?
Nintendo Switch Online will in all likelihood be called Nintendo Online - NO - next gen, in only a few more years, so I'm just staying ahead of the curve. If I start typing NSO now I'll just have to change it back to NO then. 😉
@ryancraddock I don't understand how you took the time to update the subtitle and the article and still left the title incorrect. The tweet says it clear as day:
"exclusively for #NintendoSwitchOnline members!"
And the follow-up tweet says the same:
"The Overcooked 2 Game Trial for #NintendoSwitchOnline members"
This trial is NOT for "Switch Owners" as your title says, it's for #NintendoSwitchOnline members.
Once is a mistake, twice is negligence. 😉
(Looking at Overcooked All You Can Eat PS5 version with All contents including DLC + 60fps 4K support) 🤤
Cool, I haven't played any games in the series, but I might just have to take advantage of this.
