I think Nintendo's thinking on the matter is that if everything is available day 1 in an on-line game, then it will peak early and the user base will drop off.
By drip feeding new content, they hope to keep the game active for longer and sustain sales over a longer period...
@MeatSauce But they need to make money from it somehow?
And surely, it's better to have an up front price than milking people for money via the usual F2P practices.
I hate that the largest part of game design at the moment is how to hook people in and extract as much cash as possible out of them...
I refuse to even start to play F2P games now, as I know at some point they're going to make it increasingly awkward to carry on playing without forking out a continuous stream of cash....
@dadrester We've only tried the air hockey one in multiplayer so far, he's better than me sadly... I'm not sure what it says about me, but I'm quite into just doing the laundry and cleaning up the litter! Looking forward to unlocking more of the arcade games (I have 6/7 at the moment I think).
I will pass on the message to him, although I think I'm far more excited about the game director being on here than he is (he sort of gave a reluctant shoulder shrug when I mentioned it!)
For those that don't like the sound of the 'chores', in some ways the job part feels similar to Papers, Please or Not Tonight.... I've been priding myself on getting freshly laundered clothes out with an S-Rank every time
I wouldn't use Metacritic user scores as any sort of persuasive element when choosing whether or not to buy a game... They're far too polluted. Does anybody?
It's strange, the Guillemots seem to have fought for decades now to keep Ubisoft independent and fend off outside takeovers. It seems that perhaps they've given up the fight somewhat...
Of course streaming is the future. If it gives the same or better experience as having the console running the game then why wouldn't you?
It's still a way off I'm sure, but streaming stuff off of PS Plus lately, I genuinely don't think people would be able to tell it wasn't running native...
@boxyguy It's simple. If a game is light on content at launch don't buy it. If the content appears later on, then buy it.
As far as I can see, these are relatively minor things that Nintendo are patching to improve the game. I bought the game with no expectation of anything extra to be added other than Golf.
@Kiz3000 Switch Sports is nice, but very barebones.... It's only seen occasional play since we picked it up in launch week. Probably about 4-5 hours total!
I honestly didn't realise Bayonetta 3 had been given a date until I just saw this.... With individual announcements there's a lot more chance of me missing something than with a nice concise summary of all the cool stuff coming up.
Some definite time machine action going on there... If they're able to go back a few years and take RDR and GTAIV off the table, perhaps they should have blown up the table with the trilogy on it.
@Stnkygrngo We can play F-Zero and F-Zero X though can't we?
As for GX, perhaps we'll see that if we ever see Gamecube games on Switch. I do wonder though, whether perhaps the effort of getting Gamecube games working well on the Switch is not worth it? (for Nintendo)
@ChakraStomps Here in the UK, Boris Johnson gets £79,936 for being Prime Minister (and another salary for being an MP, but still not ridiculous numbers).

Re: Review: Arcade Paradise - An Addictive Arcade Management Sim That Proves Laundry Can Be Fun
My seven year old son and myself are both totally hooked on this game! I came downstairs at 7am this morning and he was already up doing laundry!
Re: No, Soccer Story Isn't The Sequel To Golf Story, Though It Looks Very Familiar
@abdias Except football for a large chunk of the potential market is a different game entirely, and I think the term soccer is pretty well known?
It didn't do any harm for Sensible Soccer did it?
Re: Kirby's Dream Buffet Rolls Out Worldwide Release Date
@MeatSauce You only like free-to-play (a misnomer, surely?) games?
Re: Check Out Splatoon 3's New Trading Card Minigame That's Looks A Bit Like Tetris
Yes, didn't remind me of Tetris at all in the Direct but I see Nintendolife have chosen a screenshot that ALMOST shows a tetromino!

@Lizuka Ninja Hideaway was my favourite out of the new tracks so far!

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Shares A Brand New Screenshot Of His Next Project
Props to Eric for his dedication to his game development. If I was him I'd just be swimming around in my mountains of cash like Scrooge McDuck.

Re: Disney Wants Its New Kart Racer To Provide A "Fair" Free-To-Play Experience
@SteamEngenius Just get Mario Kart 8, no chance of buyer's remorse since it's fantastic.
My time is more valuable than my money so I won't be wasting any on this game unless it's fantastic (or the kids spot it!)
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Has Leaked And Is Fully Playable On The Steam Deck
I remember GBC ROMs used to appear on the net before their appearance in the shops as well, it's hardly a new phenomenon.
Re: UK Charts: Live A Live Proves A Hit With Its Western Debut
MK8 must be close to 50m already on Switch? It was at 45.33m at the end of March...

Ah, so they're actually turning them into Gameboy Color games? It wasn't clear from the article, I though this was some sort of emulator hack...

@abbyhitter Viscosity seems wrong for ink... Inkling or not, I'm pretty sure what they're shooting is paint.

Re: This N64 ROM Hack Turns Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Into A New Star Fox Adventures
@NeonStarship Yeah, but it's not quite the same. It won't feel like an N64 game, it'll feel like a bad PC or mobile game
Re: This N64 ROM Hack Turns Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Into A New Star Fox Adventures
This looks kinda awesome, wish I still had an N64 to try this out on...
Re: The Aya Neo Air Is An OLED-Packing Handheld That Can Run Cyberpunk 2077 And GTA V

I assume it's a lot thinner than a Wii U gamepad or a Steam Deck but you can't really tell from the photo....
Re: Switch Online N64 Controllers Were Restocked Today, Did You Get One? (North America)
