As Wii U owners with a 32GB Premium / Deluxe model are undoubtedly aware, that system includes membership in the Nintendo Network Premium Promotion. Once linked to a Nintendo Network ID this applies points to each purchase on the Wii U eShop, and spending an amount that roughly equates to a full retail game brings the reward of a £5 / €5 / $5 credit voucher; even better, that redemption code can be used in the eShop on either the Wii U or 3DS, especially with Nintendo Network IDs and funds now being linked across the systems.
It's always been a limited time deal, however, right from the day it was first announced in 2012. The fine print has made clear that the promotion ends on 31st December 2014, which is one week away at the time of writing. That means this festive period is the last chance to pick up points on eShop purchases. Any points earned will last a little longer, as you have until 31st March 2015 to redeem existing points for vouchers.
So, don't forget to check on your points progress at p.nintendo.net, in case picking up an extra treat will get you one last bonus discount.

I hope that they do something similar to this again in the future
I really wish they extended this, I want the deluxe model but also to have discounts on eshop. Nintendo never does discounts often.
I milked that promotion for all it was worth. It's a good thing I prefer retail games as digital copies above discs. And I'm a Virtual Console collector. I probably got, like, $50 for free so far.
I got a Wii U just as the promotion was about to end I was planning on getting a digital copy of Smash Bros to at least get one $5 credit but I gave into a physical copy. Would be nice to have grab Darksiders II for a mere $3 on the eshop.
I'm trying to get $5 free now, I gotten my Wii U recently so I don't have much, hopefully tomorrow there will be some good stuff to buy.
Ah right. I'm almost got enough to get another $5, so I guess I'll take a look at the eShop.
I've gotten 6 codes for free so far. Great promotion, wish it was extended longer.
@ArcanineArco Well if you lived in NA there is always Club Nintendo games...hopefully they will start doing that in Europe.
Oh no. I better check to see if I have any codes on there. I forgot about the promotion for a long time and only starting using my earned codes recently. It was sort of odd to have to go to a separate website to claim a code, and then travel back to the eShop to enter it. I feel like it should have just been incorporated into the eShop itself from the start. Oh well. Nice while it lasted. I probably got around $20 or $25 credit through the promotion. Maybe more.
So bad... So far I've gotten 24 activation codes, which means $120 for free. That's two free brand new retail games!
Nice promo, Nintendo.
I just realized I had two codes.
Yay! Free money!
I wanted to check if I had any vouchers left, but the site seems to be down at the moment?
I am so gonna miss you, honey....
I made it to 10 codes, maybe another one since I still need to pick up the HW DLC, Duck Hunt and a bunch of other games.
Completely forgot about the promo but since I bearly bought anything digitally on my Wii U. I don't even have enough points to even get a €5 discount. Ah well since I forgot about the promo it doesn't bother me really.
If the promo was linked with my 3ds on the other hand then I would have alot of points.
O.H krud, I completely forgot, I got my Wii U launch week kept the box and the manuals and bits of paper, including the Premium Promotion thing safely. If I registered it now and download Smash Bros tomorrow like I planned to, will it still count, or was I too late...
I got 3 vouchers from it, possible I may get to 4 before the 31st, depends if people got me eshop vouchers for xmas
@Takerkaneanite6 You don't register manually, once you have got a Nintendo Network ID it automatically registers you. Login to the site (https://p.nintendo.net/deluxe/) and you've probably got lots of codes waiting for you.
I don't really download much, so I was still 250 points away from getting anything...
I hate that they didn't give us basic owners this.
Only had a Wii U for a few months and only just got 1 code a few weeks back. I'm planning on picking up Super Mario 3d World while it's on offer on eshop from tomorrow (£35) and I'm also picking up Duck Hunt and MP Advance which will bring another £10, then I just need to pick up another £5 worth of content to get one last £5 code.
Was quite impressed when I saw this when I got unboxed my Black Wii U (until I saw the expiry date of the promo was near) because I wasn't even aware of it and it didn't influence my decision to buy a Wii U, I mainly got it for the 32GB HDD because I knew I would be picking up a lot of VC content but this promotion was a small earner on top.
I'm surprised they are stopping this promotion because it sure got me spending in the first few months of owning this awesome console!
They will have to up their game on eshop releases now if they are intending on stopping this promo for good because sales are surely going to take a hit!
@Takerkaneanite6 you go to the web site fill in the form every thing for your WiiU you have gotten though the Eshop including club nintendo gifts will give you 10% back. Thats from the time you set up your Eshop account, nothing else.
@Grumblevolcano Thanks for that!!! I just checked and I have 469 points because of a few Virtual Console games and Mario Kart 8 DLC, Smash Bros should push me way past 31 more points, so I'll redeem my code when I recieve it tomorrow. If the option to link this with my 3DS through linking my Nintendo Network ID, then I would have a ton more points from downloading full retail games, like Smash Bros 3DS, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Ocarina of Time 3D, A Link Between Worlds, Mario and Luigi Dream Team Bros, Beyblade Evolution, 3D Sonic the Hedgehog and a ton of Virtual Console games. O.H well, no point dewelling on what could have been...
@RightHemisphereG Thanks!!! I don't want to repeat everything that I just said, so for that, see my last comment.
I had the deluxe but never figured out how to activate the premium deal… I never found an activation code in the box…
I'm going to miss this program! I can't tell you enough how valuable and awesome it's been to me! Hope they do it again or replace it with something else...
@Sir_JBizzle You got 60 codes, very impressive!
I wish I went digital sooner. Now I'm double dipping. I'm on my 12th 5€ tomorrow and I will be eyeing for the 13th before the year ends. Maybe 14 if there'll be more sales surprises.
@ChessboardMan you should be able go to ddp.nintendo.com and sign in with the Nintendo Network ID you registered your Wii U with. Whatever you bought digitally should already be there with codes waiting if you made enough purchases at worst it'll take 24 hours to show up upon first sign in...
The caveat is obviously you would have had to buy the deluxe model Wii U to be eligible for the program.
I have a feeling in the January direct they will announce that this will be extended for another year and now will include the 3ds eshop too.
Sure a great promotion anyway. I'll be getting the last outta it this week
£1 = 8 points .... 500 points = £5 lol takes forever to get anything from it.
I buy most eshop games on sale so only have 2 codes and halfway to a third so I'll try before the deadline, still a great promo.
This promotion helped me complete the NES Mega Man series.
Nintendo needs to extend this and further extend it to the 3DS. They're already not competing on so many other levels, it'd be ridiculous to drop this now.
Definitely going to miss this promotion and I am not sure how many digital games I will be buying without it seeing as this was a major incentive for me.
Nintendo totally needed to let this continue until the next console debuts. It was a nice reward for early adopters. You know, all three of us
Made 25 bucks when all was said and done. Not bad. When combined with discounted eShop cards it definitely swayed me to pick up a few games digitally.
They should have advertised this more. It was a major selling point, so at least near the end they should have been telling everyone how this was at least one reason not to wait on buying a Wii U.
I can't help but feel that THIS is the real reason that captain toad got pushed to conveniently 2 days after this promotion finishes
Nintendo, please extend this promotion...
I milked that promotion for all it was worth.
I bet more money could be saved by buying at retail on sale than downloading retail games.
I just read this, then checked this site. I had no idea I had $65 waiting for me, and almost enough points for another $5. Thanks nintendo life, and thanks Nintendo. That's probabky one of the best presents I'll get. Like 7 eshop games
@Bass_X0 I doubt it as Nintendo games rarely go on sale.
I've only had my wiiu a year and never buy full retail games from the E shop so I only managed to get 2 codes from this
I have had my Wii U for two years and have never made a single purchase. The possible only purchase I might make is Duck Hunt. Other than that, I'll just wait for any potential sales. All of my sales have been on the 3DS so far.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I just bought Bit.Trip Runner 2 for $5. Forgot about that! But that was it.
The promotion had a long run, but nothing lasts forever. Unless Nintendo is kind enough to extend it to at least end of March next year, we may never see a promotion like this for years to come.
I'm really going to miss this awesome program. Definitely was good for my ever-growing backloggery.
I've got 5 credits saved up and only 70 points away from another. Between Duck Hunt and boxing week specials I should have no problem getting there,
Got about £15 of this, mostly because I got the Wind Waker Wii U and then got a free code that they presume you bought and then I got pikmin for free with MK8, and then got DKCRTFWhen it was on sale so.... I cheated it quite a lot
This was a cool program. I have about 60 bucks on my account and a few games I want to buy from the eshop. I'm debating just spending all that money and the games I know I'll eventually get to use the promotion one last time, or just let it go.
My backlog is huge though.
other promotions seems to have some effect, like the Famicom 30th anniversary monthly sale gave 2 points per game, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate granted 420 points and that was from registering Mario Kart 8's Stars code for the free game.
Surprisingly, i didn't download much, probably should transfer the DKC trilogy sometime.
I just got my Wii U last month, so unfortunately I didn't get much good out of this
Whelp, I'm gonna get another when I download Captain Toad. I'll need to spend just $16.80 for another one so I'll get Darksiders II on sale (considered buying it for over a year so I'll jump on it at that price). I'll find another game to get with it so I get another DDP code. Then I'm gonna use them to download Pokemon Y and Ultimate NES Remix. Pokemon Y will be my first game in that series. If I like it enough I may get Alpha Sapphire later on. Those are my Christmas download plans!
Really wish this promo would have lasted longer though. I also wish I'd taken more advantage of it, but with things like MK8 and Smash I wanted a boxed copy.
@DiscoGentleman Yeah if we are lucky they will announce something even better when it ends but that is just wishful thinking on my part.
Got 18 codes from this, was great while it lasted!! Hope to get at least one more out of it though.
@Bass_X0 I agree with you. Eshop prices for the big games eg. MK8, SSB, Bayonetta, are more than £5 more expensive than buying the disc if you shopped around. This promo was really only any good if you were committed to buying the download anyway.
Given how many people forgot it even existed, there'd probably have been more digital sales if they just dropped the price of the big games by a fiver in the first place.
Thanks for the Reminder NintendoLife, got myself a free £5 code.
Usually I follow most news but this information got by me for some reason. I think I saw it on here once, but I didn't have a Wii U at the time so I didn't pay close attention. It turns out I had $10 waiting on me in credit that I was about to lose. Now I feel like an idiot... I just missed the discount for Another World because I didn't have any money, and I could've used this
Ah well, at least I can use it for Duck Hunt and the Attack of the Monsters discount tomorrow
I'll end up getting two codes from this, and one of them was almost completely from the free version of Monster Hunter from the Mario Kart promotion. Haven't bought much really, but I'm sitting at 908 total now so a £10 game should get me up to another just in time.
I need to earn 288 points for my last $5 credit. I'm leaning towards a duo like The Swapper (199) + Thomas Was Alone (109) but I kind of want only one of those at full price and wait for a sale on the other. Any good $29 combos y'all would recommend?
I got €5, and bought Art Academy. It's always better than nothing, so I'm not complaining.
I only got six codes from this so far but I'm close to a seventh and very interested in some of the games coming to the eShop on Christmas so we'll definitely have to see about that! I loved this promotion and I wish they'd extend it, because $30 free was fantastic, I got a lot of great games for my Wii U (and later my 3DS, too) from it!
@edcomics the current method requires consumers to actively obtain their codes. This way, forgetful consumers or those unaware of the promotion continue don't get the free credit - remember, every code claimed is $5 less in Nintendo's pocket. From a business standpoint, this is smart, as it rewards customer loyalty without outright cutting 10% of their digital profit (well less than 10% but still a good chunk). The bonus credit is definitely worth the minimal effort to redeem it. I'm pretty sure they purposely did it this way, it's actually easier to make it credit accounts directly (or simply send an automated code to your email address every time they 500 points is hit), they had to set up an extra system to do it this way but it saves them money in the long run while continuing to reward us.
This was a great promotion.
I really wish they keep this offer, I've purchased more digital games because of it. I actually brought a digital copy of smash Wii U just so I could get something extra off the eshop. Hopefully we get some more good eshop sales tomorrow only 136pts away from a $5 code.
I'm going to wait just a bit to see if I get any eShop cards for Christmas. There are a lot of things on my eShop wishlist I've held off buying, so I'm looking forward to finishing this deal!
I need to spend 4 euro more to get another code, while currently having 8 euro in my account. I was planning to get a GBA game, but now that Child of Light is discounted, that'll be the better choice. Then I get the code and can still get a GBA game next year (as I don't really need one now, being busy with Fire Emblem). It'll be my third code. I didn't really download so much, and I had gotten one code less if it wasn't for the MK8 promotion, from which I got a lot of points for the Wind Waker download.
Nintendo making a big mistake letting this program end.
@Sir_JBizzle You win at Nintendo Digital Deluxe Program for sure!
Just learned about this last week and found £15 of credit sitting waiting for me - nice surprise Christmas present!
@Luna-Harmony Nintendo uses somekind "price basis for points" so in territory where i live Example Hyrule Warriors bought at launch gave me 378 points. Still no idea how to count that price basis.
My free copy of Mario an Sonic at Sochi gave me over 500 points.
I hadn't checked my account for a while and my last purchase being Mario Kart 8 DLC put it at 523, so that's my 5th lot of AU$7.
Thanks Nintendo!
@DarkJamD Its roughly retail price - VAT at 16%. (Dunno why 16% as nowhere in the EU uses it but that is what it seems to be. 15% would make more sense for Luxembourg). That is for the Uk.
Heh. Why use that promotion when I got eShop cards for cheap?
I got $50 free just from that
I got $15 for free, I'm happy. Though I do wish Nintendo restarts this for all those folks who bought a Wii U this holiday/this year.
Will likely end the promo with 4500 pts. I guess just like with amiibo, I am part of the problem as I think Nintendos digital angle could use some work yet I am still throwing money at it.
I got $35 out of it, 91pts leftover
Nintendo's given me a ton of "free" stuff for being a fan (Zelda: Collector's Edition was more than enough) so I'm happy with the $15 I got from this deal.
14000+ points? Yeah, I hit the eShop pretty hard.
Living in a fairly small town with no game store, no place to buy new games at all and having a good enough job where dropping 40-100$ monthly is hardly noticeable contributed.
Used six codes this month, will get Shantae for less than 10$ cash.
It was a fun promo and provided more benefit than CN (considering that every transaction, whether DLC, VC or full game gave points) and definitely helped some transactions easier to stomach (65$, enough to put you over for 1 and a second on top of that) and upped my VC library more than expected.
With a kid that likes to mess around with my media, whether throwing the cases, sitting on them or generally knocking them over and around, digital is a blessing.
I don't need extra stuff to display. I need to maximize my space.
DVDs, Blu-rays, N64, GC, DS and SNES stuff is all I want to manage.
Sorry, 17000+.
JBizzle def takes the cake.
I didn't hit up as many VC games, never got Mario Kart, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends or MH3 and still ended up with almost ten disc games (in addition to 9 DS games, 7 Xbox, 3 Gamecube, 26 PSP, 20-30 Blu-ray movies, 8 20$+ graphic novels, 2 DSs, a PSP, an Xbox, a new GC, and 10-14 new controllers between all the systems. And over 400$ on Wiiware..)
Yeah.
Good times, but not free.
Alot of time and effort went into earning the money to acquire those codes.
I loved this promo! Scored myself 18 codes (19 once I buy some VC games today) which came out to $126. Really hope they do it again sometime.
thats the way busine$$ goes.
Good night, sweet prince. I got 25 bucks from the service, and all well spent! Thanks, Nintendo.
Well this sucks. I've just discovered I've got a £5 voucher but I'm only 65 points from another and I don't fly home (to my Wii U till 1st of Jan).
Do 3DS eshop purchases count?
Otherwise, can I log into my eshop account from someone else's Wii U?
Needed 12 points for another voucher, so bought Gravity Badgers for £1.99. My account is taking ages to update though
@Takerkaneanite6 Actually, once you get smash bros from the WiiU eShop, that should give you 599 more points, so you'll actually get $10 back worth, combining with your points you already have.
@FX102A try here if us http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12384/p/431
you can buy some games online but not all. then some where you can enter the code online and viola! and no 3ds does not work sorry!
@ogo79 Yeah but if the overall revenue drops by something like 50% then the sensible thing to do would be to reintroduce it but I don't think Nintendo is a company that works like that.
@Uberchu I don't think that works for the EU sadly.
The promotion was an incentive to buy the higher priced version. Either you saved money by buying the white basic model, or saved money through this promotion.
I used my third and final code to get me some Shantae action. Another code got me the Pikmin HD vids and I think the first was used mostly for those 30 cent VC games. Thanks for the freebies Nintendo!
And this is why I've been telling people to get me eShop cards for Christmas.
I've only gotten four codes to use; I may hopefully get a fifth. Strongly considering buying Super Mario 3D World digitally, since I know that'll give it a huge boost, and it's a small download, anyway.
@Tsurii897 Ah, yeah. The Mad Aussie Bloke. I liked him. "Digital 4 lyfe," or whatever.
@DracioKoi that isn't how it works - you have to spend $50 to get $5
@hcfwesker naw - he would get a $5 credit for smash and that is it
I've scored 10 of those $5 credits so far - I'm about to get my 11th - I just downloaded Nano Assault and it is SPLENDID!!
@vitalemrecords I know how it works. I said I would have bought Smash Bros for $59 from the eShop to get $5 credit worth of points, but instead I bought the physical copy of Smash so I won't get to redeem those points since it has to be digital.
I've had £30 of vouchers through this promotion.
Never purchased direct from eShop either, purchased the download code from Game for £10-£15 less than the eShop price. Game Reward Points plus credited Premium Points on the full eShop price was quite a bargain.
Shame this promotion is ending as it was the only reason I downloaded from the eShop.
Looks like I will buying physical from now on unless there's a really good deal to be had.
@unrandomsam I also think Nintendo wouldn't reintroduce it even if digital sales harshly fell, they'd probably just take the loss and continue as if nothing happened.
Maybe they'll have something like this for the new 3DS
I better get spending...I need some free credits! Luckily, I will have $70+ after redeeming the $35 gift card I got for Christmas.
I need to spend a good ~$47 to get another code (apparently got one back in early November) but I was already planning on getting Shantae this weekend and that'll put me halfway to another code... Tempting me to spend a bit more to get one last code. Nintendo may win again here. Doesn't help that I won over $70 last night from a few scratchcards I got as a gift, I feel like I have the money to blow. x.x there's a lot of eShop games I'm behind on getting though...
Went on the eShop and made a bunch of final purchases to get to 3001 points, so that's $30 I got from this promo, which isn't bad considering I don't buy retail games on the eShop ever.
glad you guys posted this b/c I must have signed up and completely forgot about it. I have $45 in credit now. Merry Christmas to me!!!
Is it just for Nintendo games? I've titles like SteamWorld Dig and Child Of Light downloaded but I've received no points for them.
I'm waiting for a new years surprise: "Thanks for buying so many games, here have some extra points, Wooohooo!"
@unrandomsam
The VAT is actually 20% but because the entire price is "price of product" + VAT, the actual product price will 5/6ths of the full price including the VAT. Hence why it is 83% of the product price being used for the price basis for points.
I need to spend £30 to reach my next coupon, but I can't decide what to buy. I thought I'd go for Smash Bros., but that would leave me £30 from my next coupon. I considered Wonderful 101, which costs £40, leaving me with 100 points overflow - something that's slightly more tolerable for me.
But I'm not really in any position to splurge out - I picked up several games on Steam during the winter sale, and I don't think I can justify spending £30 to get £5 back. There isn't anything on the store in that price range that I'm desperate to buy anyway.
@SigourneyBeaver
If I'm correct, you'll have plenty of time to request and redeem the codes - they just stop counting your contributions at the end of the 31st.
I only buy Indies + some DLC, so it takes far longer time to get these paybacks.
I'm close to get my 5th and last card now.
I prefer retails on physical disc, and is why i never buy them as download.
@DracioKoi You're right - I forgot how to read for a minute - my bad - but yesterday I downloaded Darksiders 2 and it is totally great! So thanks for not making a mistake that I thought was a mistake so I could find out about this glorious 80% discount!!
@immadashell you make up fairy tale? troll much? your mom is calling you
@Blue-Thunder looks like someone is jealous
Thank you thank you! By the way if anyone got the promotion for free wind waker, that junk counts! That's like five bucks for free, i was so happy!
@vitalemrecords No problem. Glad to hear the game is great, I'm going to take advantage of the sale as well.
I've gotten two $5 eShop cards from this. Hope they can do this again in the future!!!!
My calculations were a bit off so I guess my final total will be 7 codes with 333 points spare.
Need 51 points for one more voucher... GBA game or Earthbound?
Holy pooponit! Thanks so much for this reminder. I've had my Wii U since launch year and had no idea about this. I just downloaded Toad's Treasure Tracker for free because of this! AWESOME.
Had no idea about this, I had seen the promotion from time to time but there wasn't much info to go on. Glad this popped up or else I'd be out 10 free bucks
15€? Not bad.
@YoshiTails EarthBound is the better deal, I think. Just don't spoil you with the story, and you get a good game with a great Soundtrack. Also, the beginning is thougher then the most of the game (Peaceful Rest Valley), and if you see too much enemies, make them respawn with making the enemies place around 20% away from the visible screen and going back.
The best thing is talking with every NPC, as a reminder.
Also, our HP scrolls down if you get hit, so if you get mortally damaged, you can still defeat the enemy before it scrolls to zero. And after you won, it stops scrolling!
I have a mix of physical and digital games but the dpp has been kind to me; giving me $125 in savings.
Anyone know if I can roll my Club Nintendo points into this somehow?
