Chibi-Robo had 6 games, the first four of which I immensely enjoyed because of their fresh gameplay, charming graphics, breathing worlds, humorous cast, unique stories, and fantastic soundtracks.
Knowing that Chibi-Robo was a collab between Shigeru Miyamoto and Kenichi Nishi (Chrono Trigger) I expected quite much, and obviously it delivered with ease:
1. 2005 - 10/10 Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure (Gamecube)
2. 2007 - 10/10 Chibi-Robo! Park Patrol (DS)
3. 2009 - 10/10 Chibi-Robo! Clean Sweep! (DS)
4. 2009 - 10/10 New Play Control! Chibi-Robo! (Wii)
I leave the 2 latest ones out, they're just spin-offs from different genres - and as everybody knows they're simply not in the same league as the other 4 Chibi-Robo games.
Chibi-Robo, Animal Crossing and Wind Waker brought me back to gaming when every game felt like a stale copy of something else.
I was in a real quit-gaming-mood. Thank you Nintendo for saving my hobby in 2005 and bringing out innovative new IPs like these every once in a while. Even though I had to import 75% of those. Ironically, the 2 mediocre spin-offs got a worldwide release. Clear case of wrong marketing to have such a strong series fade away to obscurity.
PS: Why is Chibi Maruko-San part of the ''related games''? That's nothing to do with Chibi-Robo!
I also want to rebuy the two N64 Goemon games. Back then the graphics were really good, but the story and music is still great. I completed them both 100%, though I think I missed a tiny thing in Goemon 2. Oh yeah, the cutscenes from the Japanese version. If Konami ever ports those games over, I hope they put the uncut version of Goemon 2 out.
In the early 90ies I wrote down one of my first "Top 20 games of all time" on a paper, I still have it. Bubble Bobble was one of the best games on it, next to Maniac Mansion, International Karate +, Super Mario Bros. 3, Project Firestart, Dr. Mario, Gribbly's Day Out, Bruce Lee (C64), Zak McKracken, Armalyte, Kikstart II, Paradroid, Turrican, Tetris, and weirdly enough Bop'n Rumble. That was before I got a SNES. Even the original Mario Bros. (not Super Mario Bros.) managed to snag a spot. Had great times with all of these 8-bit games.
Bubble Bobble is an evergreen for me. If just the new artstyle was better, however I'll still check it out.
75 MB? This looks like it should be 75 KB at most.
Well, I still have half a Terrabyte left on my Wii U external hard drive, so it wouldn't matter how big a game is.
That was the good thing about Wii U: Unlimited memory for every huge game without ever deleting something.
(On Switch unfortunately every MB is important.)
K.K. Slider - my Animal Crossing Smash pick - now less chance with a different dog (Isabelle) in. I doubt they'd put two dogs in. It would be like adding another Fire Emblem swordfighter. However, K.K. Slider would make the perfect Isabelle echo.
I haven't played much of RE5 on other systems,
but I didn't have any issues with the Switch demos performance or graphics. In fact it looks really good.
Trying RE6 next.
And these two games really work in 2p co-op splitscreen? Atm I have no one over here to test it, but that's big.
Kids these days are so lucky. When I was a kid we had to pay 79.99 for 8 characters and 20 courses. Now you get 34+ characters and 64+ races for free.
And paying up to get things quicker is just an option. There are tens of millions that are using this games server every day. Also, the game is getting a minor update every Wednesday and a major update every other Wednesday. This week alone, Mario Kart Tour got at least 14 new characters and 7 brandnew courses, like the exclusive Tokyo-Turbotour race track and remakes of iconic staples like SNES Rainbow Road and N64 Kalimari Desert. With these development costs in mind 5,49 for a month worth of Gold Pass bonuses seem like a small sacrifice. You can subscribe and cancel it anytime, if you think it's not worth it.
But I think the game goes overboard with all these karts and gliders. If it grows at this pace, we'll be p(l)aying for a long time.
The other thing you can buy (red rubys) are way overpriced though. I wouldn't buy into them. I have enough patience and hope to get the stuff I want eventually. This, unlike Nintendos console games, is not a game to complete 100%, people need to understand that. There are chances as low as 0.3% to get a certain thing and even worse, it's within a limited time. This fact alone should make you not bother going for 100% and just enjoy what you can get for free.
You can't have 100% anyway. They took the achievement medals away (even the Gold Pass ones), when the new missions and gold missions arrived yesterday. Collecting those time-limited medals proved pointless, except for the extra stars and coins.
Yeah, I think Mario Kart Tour is a great version and massively enjoyable so far since it also does many things right. It did not lose its Mario Kart-feel, you can get lots of content for free, the controls work pretty well for a touch-controlled racer, the different progression system is a neat break from the oldschool MK1-8 system, and the new combo system is my favourite new addition, having 3 races and then a bonus mission is always pretty neat, the weekly online ranking with friends (and rivals) is a total joy.
I think it would be cool if each Tetromino had a name that starts with the letter that is reminiscent of its shape.
The T-shaped Tetromino could be Thom. The other 6 maybe
Z - Zach
S - Sara
L - Lisa
J - John
O - Olga
I - Ivan
I picked only names with four letters, because each shape is made of four blocks.
And Ivan and Olga as a reference to the Russian roots. ^^
And always a male and a female name, for gender fairness.
I have more issues with the Panic Button ports than the Virtuos ports, but I played after the patched updates, and docked, so I wouldn't know about portable issues.
In general, they both do a pretty good job getting graphically demanding games running on Switch, though a little more polish before release would do both companies good.
And Dark Souls Remastered issues was Bandai Namco's fault. If they allowed Virtuos to use a 16GB cartridge instead of a 4GB we'd have gotten a much higher quality port.
Yohoo, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! Congrats! It really has everything I wanted, a don't-cut-any-characters direction. And a load of other good fan wishes that materialized and new ideas that made the game so much better than before. Nintendo never cared so much for (and never communicated so directly with) its fans and partners as with this game.
Ultimate is my number 1 game of 2018 as well, and Undertale is my number 2.
The story and atmosphere was great, the gameplay was almost perfect but melee combat was too simple. My biggest gripes with the game are that it's all on a ship and not on a planet, and the soundtrack often felt more like background ambience, but that's still fine.
Why do people think Samus must be some kind of badass or a movie clone? She was never anything like that. That's all just people projecting something into her. I can't see her character contradict anything from her past games. In Super Metroid the iconic intro has this part where you get a bit of Samus' thoughts and Other M just builds upon that.
Anyway, Samus saw her parents killed by Ridley when she was a child. She grew up with weird Chozo aliens in her youngest years. When she was picked up by Adam, he was the first human she ever had close contact to. Adam was not only a military instructor but also a father figure. All makes perfect sense, if more people would just pay attention to the story.
I can see HD remakes of both Aladdin and The Lion King that don't resemble any old version. I see the Mega Drive version of The Lion King but the Super Game Boy version of Aladdin.
And I see Game Boy versions of The Lion King and Aladdin.
What is the point in having Aladdin for the Game Boy twice?
I don't even remember there being a regular Aladdin Game Boy game. I thought it was released specifically for Super Game Boy only, at least in my region. Is there someone with more info? Whatever the case, there's no point to have the exact same game twice (only running in two different modes). They could have taken the Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance version instead, or you know, the popular SNES version, heck, even the original Mega Drive version would work next to the HD one!
Adding a new Joy-Con color is not much more than adding a number and a line of code to the system update.
Should be no problem for a Nintendo programmer to invest half a minute to update it every time a new official Joy-Con color comes out.
No Dragon Quest Builders 2 (or 1)??? No Skyrim?? No Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate? No Dark Souls Remastered? No Disgaea 5 Complete or Disgaea 1 Complete? (Disgaea 4 Complete+ is coming soon) No Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana? No I am Setsuna? No Dragon's Dogma? No Fire Emblem: Three Houses? No Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch?
Is Battle Chasers Nightwar really that much better?
I wish AlphaDream made a big home console RPG, like Super Mario RPG or Paper Mario, but that dream's over.
The poorest decision was to remake a DS game for the 3DS instead of bringing it to the Switch. I mean, all potential 3DS buyers already had it.
It was not an old game at all, and it didn't have the time to grow into a classic. The 2 biggest reasons why people want a remake!
Most of the fanbase still owned the original and weren't fond of buying the same game just with an added mode. It was just Nintendo's dumb idea to extend the 3DS's life with a remake nobody's asked for.
GTA V could have been running on the Wii U with ease. It's a PS3 game after all and the Wii U was just as capable, if not more.
On Switch GTA V is a no brainer... well, if it wasn't for the limited cartridge space: Take-Two Interactive hates those 32GB cartridges even more than the 16GB cartridges.
Huge games like L.A. Noire and NBA2K that needed a 32GB cartridge came out on 16GB or 8GB cartridges respectively. That publisher does Rockstar Games and 2K Games such a disservice.
If they countinue in that direction they will go with the smallest cartridges next and just put a downloader on it, or better yet, they put a download code in the box like Wolfenstein Youngblood did, or don't release it physically at all. :/
Well, I'll be skipping any of that bs and be playing The Witcher III.
I only played the first two games and thought they were rubbish.
The first had lots of camera- and combat problems, and the second was just one of many mediocre action games.
It seems DMC3 saved a series that wasn't great to begin with.
Never gave the series another chance when it supposedly got better.
What's the best title to start with?
The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 luck-based RNG-lootboxes (finding all rare Blades) were kind of annoying. I don't want to go through bits of that again, ever, and those lootboxes were FREE!! If there was no New Game+ carrying over all the gatcha stuff, the game would have no replayability for me.
Mario Kart Tour is great for a smartphone game, but due to the overpriced lootboxes and time-limited event-based gatcha system (spending lots of money does not mean you come your goal any closer because time can run out before you get what you want), I don't bother to complete it 100% like I do with other games in the series.
In other parts of the world, the luck-based gatcha/lootbox system is banned, but in Mario Kart Tour it's the newest thing. They just added the likelyhood-percentage to every item, so you know how small your chance is to get the things you want. The system is even time limited, so you have to buy fast before it resets itself again. Apart from these controversial features, and the high monthly fee for the pass, the game is fun.
The controls work surprisingly well for a Touch-based game. Obviously Nintendo worked on Touchscreen-only Mario Kart since Mario Kart DS (2005), but never released it until now.
Also, the game runs in hi-end and lo-end mode, so no-one's left out. Even older smartphones/tablets can run the game.
That's how it's done. Microsoft (and Moon Games) show their best efforts to get a good reputation on Nintendo/Switch. I think the Switch versions of Cuphead and Hellblade are also very polished. Microsoft has the money for some quality playtesting, plus they are not in a rush to release games before they're done. If they continue like that they make themselves a good name on that platform.
I want Hellblade physical though. That game is too huge for my microSD, but it looks amazing!
The only way I can see this solved is if every attack has a symbol next to it, just like Shulk. If Shulk hadn't coloured symbols indicating his specials he'd fall in the same language barrier issue that Hero has fallen into.
If you have a great producer on it, you should make sure everything runs great, too. Before release. 'cos every bug and framerate issue will be looked upon twice as sharp when you have a big name behind it.
Also, don't make multiplatform titles if your team is too small for proper playtesting and quality assurance or your reputation will sink. After this, he's not such a great producer anymore.
Sitting on a gold mine with rare sought after N64, Gamecube, and Wii games all complete and in mint condition, played through once and then stored away. Though if I had never unsealed them I could sell them for double or triple. Unfortunately I did not buy them to stare at their boxes.
@Dr_Corndog Yeah, they shipped the wrong version of Cave Story+, they dropped contract with La-Mulana developers for greedy reasons, 1001 Spikes and Cave Story 3D took ages to release outside of the US, 90's Arcade Racer is the new Duke Nukem Forever, and generally tons of delays. I wonder how they were able to get great games like Ittle Dew 2, The Binding of Isaac, Cave Story, or Ikaruga in the first place.
You can never see Sailor Moon in Punch-Out!! (Wii) officially. It's a texture in a 5 second cutscene that cannot be seen by players. You can't change the camera perspective to get a glimpse of it, there's no in-game cheat to do it either. It's totally out of bounds.
As long as everyone played the game it's supposed to be played an issue would never occur.
Then someone hacks the game with unlicensed external software, finds a blurry, pixely low-res Sailor Moon texture, and produces a 2 million dollar dilemma. Obviously we should not put copyrighted stuff in a game, however well it's hidden. Someone is going to break and find it. I bet Nintendo reviewed and scanned all of Next Level Games for similar stuff.
@Roam85 I heard they would work, but I haven't tried.
@Rayquaza2510 I'm just saying I got the same feeling playing Taiko with Joycon, as I got when playing Pop'n Rhythm with a Wiimote: It was a remarkably bad experience.
Button controls? Now you're trolling. Playing a drum in rhythm is an entirely different experience compared to pushing buttons in the right moment minigame-like.
Also, Taiko no Tatsuji for Switch was bundled with the Taiko controller in EU (and I think worldwide) , no need for expensive import.
Can't vote for any cover. They're all bad. Japanese cover 'developped' typo. And I can't look at the NA version with that cut off text 'NAKE' instead of 'SNAKE'.
Taiko no Tatsujin must be played with the original Taiko drum controller that comes with the game!
I do NOT recommend downloading it from the eShop or playing the demo with Joy-Cons. It will scare you away, and that's not what this game is about.
It's like the Pop'n Rhythm and Samba de Amigo games on Wii. They're made specifically with their own controllers in mind. Unfortunately with just Joycons/Wiimotes the controls are not precise enough and therefore the games are a pain to play instead of a joy.
I love the simulation part of action-adventures.
When stuff can happen by chance, when significant NPCs roam and change the world just like the player, when a game not only processes the direct surroundings but tons of things that happen in the background as well.
Pine sounds like such a ''vivid world'' game.
I'm not interested in a smaller roster. I'm only Interested in Ultimate+ for Switch 2 and Ultimate DX for Switch 3.
Why is Ultimate the best Smash Bros. game? Because Everyone Is Here! Everyone's main is playable, even the super-niche ones, even the ones we thought were lost. No one is left out. Smash is like family.
You want a reimagined Smash? Switch has at least 2 of them: Brawlhalla and Brawlout.
You want Nintendo to change up the fighting game formula? My recommendations: Pokémon Tekken, ARMS, Punch-Out!!, Wii Sports Boxing, Wii Sports Resort Swordfight, Killer Instinct Gold, Joy Mech Fight, Pro Wrestling, Urban Champion or maybe a fighting game that is not by Nintendo?
@Switch-a-Roony When Nintendo closes down the Wii U eShop like they did with the Wii Shop Channel after 12 years (Dec 2006 - Jan 2019) then you can't even re-download already purchased games. From that point onwards you will have to backup your purchased downloads yourself. If you have not re-downloaded all your games by that point that's your money down the drain.

If they countinue in that direction they will go with the smallest cartridges next and just put a downloader on it, or better yet, they put a download code in the box like Wolfenstein Youngblood did, or don't release it physically at all. :/
Well, I'll be skipping any of that bs and be playing The Witcher III.
Re: Review: Devil May Cry 2 - The Series Nadir Isn't Worth Bothering With On Switch
Re: Nintendo Reveals Rarity Of Character And Kart Unlocks In Mario Kart Tour
Re: Mario Kart Tour Downloaded 20 Million Times On Release Day
In other parts of the world, the luck-based gatcha/lootbox system is banned, but in Mario Kart Tour it's the newest thing.
Re: Ori And The Blind Forest "Animates A Bit Smoother" On Nintendo Switch
That's how it's done. Microsoft (and Moon Games) show their best efforts to get a good reputation on Nintendo/Switch. I think the Switch versions of Cuphead and Hellblade are also very polished. Microsoft has the money for some quality playtesting, plus they are not in a rush to release games before they're done. If they continue like that they make themselves a good name on that platform.
I want Hellblade physical though. That game is too huge for my microSD, but it looks amazing!
Re: Super Mario Odyssey's Pauline Makes Her Mario Kart Debut Tomorrow
I knew it, and she'll be next in Smash, not Waluigi or Toad.
Re: Nintendo France Bans Hero From Official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament
The only way I can see this solved is if every attack has a symbol next to it, just like Shulk. If Shulk hadn't coloured symbols indicating his specials he'd fall in the same language barrier issue that Hero has fallen into.
Re: Koji Igarashi Didn't Expect The Switch Version Of Bloodstained To Be "As Bad" As It Was At Launch
Re: Just How Much Can Your Sealed Retro Games Sell For?
Sitting on a gold mine with rare sought after N64, Gamecube, and Wii games all complete and in mint condition, played through once and then stored away. Though if I had never unsealed them I could sell them for double or triple. Unfortunately I did not buy them to stare at their boxes.
Re: Ittle Dew 2 Removed From Switch eShop Against Developer's Wishes
@Dr_Corndog Yeah, they shipped the wrong version of Cave Story+, they dropped contract with La-Mulana developers for greedy reasons, 1001 Spikes and Cave Story 3D took ages to release outside of the US, 90's Arcade Racer is the new Duke Nukem Forever, and generally tons of delays. I wonder how they were able to get great games like Ittle Dew 2, The Binding of Isaac, Cave Story, or Ikaruga in the first place.
Re: Review: Arcade Archives Track & Field - Timeless Button-Bashing Fun
And they all look like Mario.
Re: Rumour: The Sailor Moon Manga In Punch-Out!! That Allegedly Cost Nintendo Millions
Re: E3 Reportedly Set To Be Rebranded As A "Fan, Media And Influencer Festival" Next Year
Is it just coincidence that an influencer has so much in common with influenza, the virus spreading sickness?
In the Nintendo communities we have lots of unpaid and real enthusiasts. We don't need or want paid fake ones indulging in corporate propaganda.
Re: Review: Star Wars Pinball - A Silly Yet Authentic Ode To All Things Star Wars
Zen Studios make the best pinball games these days.
Those guys could easily do a collab with Nintendo.
Re: Undertale Songs Are Being Added To Taiko no Tatsujin As Paid DLC
@Roam85 I heard they would work, but I haven't tried.
@Rayquaza2510 I'm just saying I got the same feeling playing Taiko with Joycon, as I got when playing Pop'n Rhythm with a Wiimote: It was a remarkably bad experience.
Button controls? Now you're trolling. Playing a drum in rhythm is an entirely different experience compared to pushing buttons in the right moment minigame-like.
Also, Taiko no Tatsuji for Switch was bundled with the Taiko controller in EU (and I think worldwide) , no need for expensive import.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #8 - Metal Gear
Can't vote for any cover. They're all bad. Japanese cover 'developped' typo. And I can't look at the NA version with that cut off text 'NAKE' instead of 'SNAKE'.
Re: Undertale Songs Are Being Added To Taiko no Tatsujin As Paid DLC
Taiko no Tatsujin must be played with the original Taiko drum controller that comes with the game!
I do NOT recommend downloading it from the eShop or playing the demo with Joy-Cons. It will scare you away, and that's not what this game is about.
It's like the Pop'n Rhythm and Samba de Amigo games on Wii. They're made specifically with their own controllers in mind. Unfortunately with just Joycons/Wiimotes the controls are not precise enough and therefore the games are a pain to play instead of a joy.
Re: Feature: Twirlbound On Pine's Open World And The Inevitable Zelda Comparisons
I love the simulation part of action-adventures.
When stuff can happen by chance, when significant NPCs roam and change the world just like the player, when a game not only processes the direct surroundings but tons of things that happen in the background as well.
Pine sounds like such a ''vivid world'' game.
Re: Feature: Best GameCube Games

Re: There's "No Way" Future Smash Bros. Games Will Have As Many Fighters As Ultimate, Says Sakurai
Re: Purchase Bayonetta From The Wii U eShop While You Still Can
@Switch-a-Roony When Nintendo closes down the Wii U eShop like they did with the Wii Shop Channel after 12 years (Dec 2006 - Jan 2019) then you can't even re-download already purchased games. From that point onwards you will have to backup your purchased downloads yourself. If you have not re-downloaded all your games by that point that's your money down the drain.
