Skyward Sword HD was developed by Tantalus, not Nintendo.
Tantalus made fantastic games like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Mass Effect 3 - Special Edition, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut for Wii U.
They are an Australian 3rd party and Skyward Sword HD wasted approx. less than 1% of Nintendo's resources, so get over it or continue sounding dumb.
The selections are pretty nice. Again, none of them were available on Wii, 3DS, or Wii U Virtual Console, so it's all new for everyone and retro stuff keeps being exciting, especially for long-time fans. This, together with the weekly Arcade Archives games is something Nintendo retro fans haven't gotten before. Still, the whole NSO thing is not better than the old Virtual Consoles, and I hope it's just a temporary change.
A Soulblazer + Illusion of Time + Terranigma Trilogy is something I'd love to get. Something along the lines of Collection of Mana would be amazing: Collection of Terranigma.
Also, Ark for Smash! I always thought, the next best Square Enix reps would be either from Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, or Terranigma.
DK Jr. is not todays Donkey Kong. They are different characters, as both Donkey Kong and DK Jr. are playable in Mario Tennis and probably a couple other games.
This was/is still such a beautiful game. It was a huge step forward for rendered graphics, like a 64-bit Donkey Kong Country (and as you all know DKC was the best-looking game on the previous system) so it was a revelation seeing all the rotations and zooms, the screen-filling bosses and fantastically animated characters, tons of objects at once and stuff going on in the backgrounds without flashing sprites or stuttering framerate, and integrated 3D effects with no pop-up, and a wealthy fat variety in level design. It was the perfect showcase of next-level state-of-the-art 2D, but unfortunately the N64 didn't show much more afterwards. It was all about early 3D and nothing about high-end 2D. Should mention that this was also one of the few games running at 60fps (the only other N64 game I know of that ran at 60fps was F-Zero X).
Mischief Makers is one of my all-time favs. While other N64 hidden gems like Goemon, Body Harvest, Silicon Valley, and even most of the groundbreaking classics that you all know and love feel kinda sluggish nowadays, Mischief Makers doesn't seem to age at all. It's as perfect now as it was back then. It's truly a treasure and it's timeless. One of the best games ever made. 10/10
Legendary would be indeed a Tetris or DOOM related fighter, as for how popular and inspiring these games were for the whole industry. As for Capcom, I think Phoenix Wright should be in the game in one way or another. And Monster Hunter still isn't completely deconfirmed. But I have a feeling the last one is a Nintendo(-related) character, and I hope it's from a franchise that is not yet represented with a fighter. Something along the lines of SMTV, Advance Wars, Famicom Detective Club, Rhythm Paradise, Ring Fit Adventure, Chibi Robo, Golden Sun, or Prof. Layton.
For me a visual novel needs to be more than just tons of reading and the odd multiple choice every once in a while (that has no impact on anything except a few lines of text).
In Fire Emblem I have to read much dialogue as well but the great storyline is mixed with great stategy. Phoenix Wright is the same: much dialogue but mixed with exciting detective work. One part of the game adds to the other part of the game and vice versa.
So, a game with tons of character dialogue and story has to have at least a tiny bit of game. Even if it's just a match three game or a puzzler to add a bit of variety could be enough, but most of them are just cheap girly/teenie fantasy anime stories with zero gameplay and zero difficulty.
The Switch has plenty of visual novels + demos on the eShop, from publishers such as Digimerce, Opera House, D3Publisher, and more, and they all feel the same: Extremely basic (could run on a 1970's computer with lesser graphics) and with horrid characters and stupid plots most of the time. Even walking simulators and fmv games are dimensions beyond gameplay-wise. I give em all a 2/10 because there's still worse stuff like everything made by Pix Arts and Sabec that is just copypasted assets and glitch-loaded trash.
Sony made games for the SNES before they released the Playstation 1. They published many Nintendo soundtracks, even made the SNES soundchip and the Nintendo Playstation. They were partners.
The rivalry seems to calm down though. Sony published more than a dozen Switch games with their indie label Unties and managed events featuring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
@CarlosM87 Oh man, I'd rather not read my 14 year old English comments. How were people actually able to communicate with me? Anyway, I never left, playing all kinds of games. Saints Row 3 on Switch is my newest and it's a pretty neat GTA substitute.
The best for me is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for Wii. They did an amazing job of an openworld Hogwarts, its architecture, secrets, and lively atmosphere.
But Miitopia, Layton Mystery Journey, and Dungeon Warfare got most of my playtime in May, while New Pokémon Snap and Monster Hunter Rise still wait for their chance to be plugged in.
EarthBound phased out Chrono Trigger and Terranigma. Meanwhile Xenoblade Chronicles X, Collection of Mana, Mother 3, Paper Mario, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Undertale are close follow ups in the RPG genre.
Super Mario Odyssey kicked Super Mario 64 from its 3D platformer throne.
Breath of the Wild has more to offer than my previous favourites The Wind Waker and Majora's Mask combined.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has everyone and more here and still a couple to come.
So, my Top 5 must be EarthBound, Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now. Yeah, the Switch truly shaked up my Top 5 in recent years.
The good news is that this Cruis'n game actually looks like a fun racer. The N64 trilogy was decent for its time and millions found joy in the simple arcadey gameplay, but Cruis'n for Wii was uninspired, ugly, and just didn't feel like the original 3 games. Probably because of its quality, Nintendo let Midway publish it.
With Cruis'n Blast however Nintendo seems to be on board again.
This gets me excited though I'm up here for Excite Truck 2.
As the spiritual successors to GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, TimeSplitters 2 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect were the best first person shooters on the Gamecube, next to Metroid Prime 1 & 2.
Another one of Sabec's masterpieces. So far their most basic apps and games have bugs or are borderline broken, so I wouldn't bet a penny for this one to work as intended.
This reminds me of the Mario + Dragon Quest crossover Wii board game Boom Street / Fortune Street / Straßen des Glücks. Such a great time (timing) especially since Mario Party was on its downfall.
Top video. Great selection. I'd buy Paper Mario: Color Splash and Xenoblade Chronicles X on Switch day one. The Zelda's probably too.
Make a video for exclusive Wii U indie games! Don't forget to mention Affordable Space Adventures, Knytt Underground, Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails, Year Walk, Stealth Inc. 2, The Swapper, Thomas Was Alone, Noitu Love Devolution, EDGE, and Underground. I'd say Lone Survivor too, but a Switch port is already in development.
Obviously online leaderboards for every Pokémon. One big feature of the original was getting the highest score for every Pokémon you could snap. This will be a neat competition.
Back then when Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat failed on handheld, you could always depend on SNK and Takara. From Samurai Shodown to King of Fighters, World Heroes, and Battle Arena Toshinden, you'd be hard pressed to find better fighters on a Game Boy.
I couldn't find any info on the games installed on the Switch Starlight console. I only know about 21 out of the 25+ games.
01. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Nintendo)
02. Kirby: Star Allies (Nintendo)
03. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo)
04. Mario Tennis Aces (Nintendo)
05. Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! (Nintendo)
06. Super Mario Maker 2 (Nintendo)
07. Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo)
08. Super Mario Party (Nintendo)
09. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo)
10. Sushi Striker: Way of Sushido (Nintendo)
11. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo)
12. Yoshi's Crafted World (Nintendo)
13. Puyo Puyo Tetris (SEGA)
14. Minecraft (Mojang)
15. Cuphead (Studio MDHR)
16. FIFA 2020 (Electronic Arts)
17. Unravel Two (Electronic Arts)
18. NBA Playgrounds 2 (Take-Two Interactive)
19. Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy (Activision)
20. Stardew Valley (Chucklefish)
21. Yooka-Laylee (Playtonic)
It's a pretty amazing deal already, with flagship titles such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, well-known classics like Tetris, Pokémon, FIFA, and Minecraft, and modern indie highlights like Stardew Valley and Cuphead. I just wonder what the other pre-installed games in this console are.
The biggest problem with Super Mario RPG ist that it originally wasn't released in half of the world. It was not released in the continents Europe and Australia. And when it finally released globally 12 years later as a Wii Virtual Console download, it didn't have that much of an impact anymore. It was English-only, so again the audience was limited by a language barrier. And there were 3 Paper Mario's already out by then and they were all better.
The worst games on the Switch are definately anything released by Sabec.
Sabec's Basketball is an insult. Sabec's Hidden is abysmal. Sabec's Air Hockey is a travesty, Sabec's Spot the Difference - Ultimate Edition couldn't be more basic and buggy, Sabec's Pool had no one playtesting it. Each and every one of Sabec's 35 Switch games is absolute garbage from gaming hell, to put it lightly. Anything the Angry Video Game Nerd ever covered is pure gold when compared to Sabec's output.
If you really want to know how bad a Switch game can be just waste your money on anything released by Sabec. And if you think you can just try them for a buck or so, no, the price isn't reflected in their extremely poor quality.
Sabec released plenty of trash on Switch and other consoles in 2020 (and the years before). Tiny Racer isn't great but it manages to be decent. Sabec on the other hand has thirtyfive 1/10 games in their catalog.
Metacritic is wrong!
@Moon What are you talking about? Smash and Kirby aren't the only ones. Animal Crossing had tons of free additions on a monthly basis through the whole year, Super Mario Maker 2 had a couple huge game changing extras, Pokémon had several free bonuses, Splatoon 2 has been supported with free content for quite some time, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had some nice QoL stuff added for free, Super Mario Bros. 35 is supported with new missions every couple of weeks, Tetris 99 got many new backgrounds and music in events, Pokémon Café Mix just got another free content update. I'm sure there are plenty more examples. Just because stuff like this isn't tied to NSO doesn't mean there is nothing else. We should be glad that freebies like that are rarely tied to NSO.
Kemco is an old big Japanese developer that made tons of NES, SNES, N64 games, etc. just like Nintendo, Konami, Capcom, Namco, Square, Enix, Koei, and Tecmo. I'm glad they're still around.
Nowadays they're great for retro style JRPGs that are just a few bucks. The one's I played were all pretty good, at least if you're into classic Final Fantasy (1-6).
I don't get the negativity about Kemco here. It seems some people just check out the graphics and give them a pass. Sure, they don't produce masterpieces, but they are normal sized 30~40 hour games which is pretty good for the asking price. Also, most other small budget RPGs are glitchy as heck but Kemco still has old-school quality control.
I borrowed it and played it on SNES and was hooked! But I couldn't beat the final boss until years later with much more experience. I was really excited to try it again when it came to the Wii Virtual Console and yeah, I beat it. In fact I completed many games on the Wii VC that were too hard for me as a kid.
This game in particular is not even that difficult. Everything's absolutely managable right up to the final boss. Then you need to know the patterns and have a good strategy, all the lives and magic you saved for that moment, and quick button mashing fingers to get enough hits in.
I just bought La-Mulana 1 & 2 for Switch on retail. Needless to say, these 2 gems fix my spelunking needs for now, but if they release Spelunky 1 & 2 in a nice retail collection as well, chances are I'll buy it. I hope they're as good as La-Mulana 1 & 2.
Spoiled kids these days. Back then we had to import CD soundtracks from Japan for 50 bucks a pop. And nowadays we can still do it the old way. Music is often the best part of a game. Should Nintendo give it away for free? Yeah, of course, we want these great musicians to live under bridges.
However, since the launch of the Wii (Shop Channel) I imagined how cool it would be to have game soundtracks as a download. And since Switch can be used as a portable music player there's hope they investigate that idea.
1. Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2. Xenoblade Chronicles - Definitive Edition 3. Super Mario 3D All-Stars 4. Paper Mario: The Origami King 5. La-Mulana 1 & 2 - Hidden Treasures Edition
I really need to get Axiom Verge 2 and try Hades.
I also completed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in co-op. I'd put it in 6th, but I don't own it.
Ok, an actor was unaware about a controversial topic and a Chinese translation team made the line even more suggestive.
Silly line is taken out. Move on. However, I still don't think China or any reallife country belongs in Monster Hunter's fantasy setting. I don't know about a single Monster Hunter game taking place in the real world. Are there any references?
How many villains from games do you know that got so popular that you can now buy a plushie doll of them?
What I'm trying to say here is, there are hundred thousands of Sephiroth plushies out there in childrens rooms and fan shrines. Sephiroth is a staple in any freaking cosplay party.
I have played through FF7 on PS1, and 2 years ago again on Switch. Don't underestimate FF7 - It has one of the most hardcore fanbases in the world. Much about the game impacted so much in the gaming industry at the time. That title in particular also made the first Final Fantasy movie possible, and FF merchandise.
Even if FF6 and others are better in many aspects, FF7 was the most successful, the most hyped and talked about, and brought the series into the mainstream. A cult gathered around its lore! Many were possessed by the contents of its story, as FF7 did things in an RPG no one else has done before. It singlehandedly opened the floodgates for JRPGs in Europe, a time where Nintendo did not dare to release a game like Super Mario RPG, or EarthBound, or Final Fantasy 6, or Dragon Quest, or Chrono Trigger, in Europe.
And having a final boss like Sephiroth presented with full motion video cutscenes, minute long magic attacks, a brooding song with vocals, and relentless attack patterns that needed a unique strategy was something new and intriguing at the time.
So, if Sora is number 1 on so many wishlists and you can't get him because of Donald, Goofy, and Mickey, then you need to get another big shot from the same company to make everyone shut up which Sakurai just did with Sephiroth.
And yeah, usually one fighter is enough to represent a third party series. But in this case, more songs, another stage, and more spirits are welcome (because Cloud came with almost nothing).
Though, that means goodbye Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana Hero Randy, Terranigma Hero Ark, fan-favourite Geno, Bubble Bobble, Space Invaders, Lara Croft, and phew, Sora.
I personally can't wait to play as Sephiroth. I bought Fighters Pass 1&2 because "everyone is here" and whatever they release, it can only be a brandnew fighter with a brandnew stage, spirits, and music, so that's good enough for me, even if I don't like to play all of them.
I just checked for updates on Switch games, and these games got one as well:
Dauntless
DC Universe Online
Dungeons & Dragons: Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms
Eternal - Card Game
Fantasy Strike
Fortnite
Onigiri
Paladins: Champions of the Realm
Pokémon Café Mix
Rocket League
The Elder Scrolls: Blades
The Four Kings: Casino and Slots
Vigor
Warframe
YouTube
Also, not long ago:
Brawlhalla
Circle of Sumo: Online Rumble!
Rogue Company
Smite: Battleground of the Gods
Warface
World of Tanks: Blitz
And now two eShop F2P online games were taken off the Switch eShop. Dawn of the Breakers and Get Amped Mobile servers are not longer available. Both games developed by CyberStep can't be downloaded or played beyond their title screens anymore. The "Project Octopath Traveler" download is also long gone, and not re-downloadable.

Re: Random: Smash Bros. Fans React To Geno's Return As A Mii Fighter Costume
Come on, I don't get my Chibi-Robo either.
And Rex fans destroy Elma.
And why does no one recognize Sin & Punishment?
There's always a next Smash game / Fighters Pass... I hope.
Re: Kemco Discounts Ten RPGs Across Switch, Wii U And 3DS In Latest Sale
Re: Anniversary: ActRaiser Turns 30 Today, And There's Still Nothing Quite Like This SNES Classic
Happy birthday ActRaiser, good game!!
Re: Sakurai's Smash Bros. Sephiroth Broadcast Will Run For About 35 Minutes
@Prizm Larry Koopa is already a fighter in the game.
Re: Spelunky 1 And 2 Are Both Coming To Nintendo Switch
I just bought La-Mulana 1 & 2 for Switch on retail. Needless to say, these 2 gems fix my spelunking needs for now, but if they release Spelunky 1 & 2 in a nice retail collection as well, chances are I'll buy it. I hope they're as good as La-Mulana 1 & 2.
Re: EA Has Swooped In To Steal Codemasters From Under The Nose Of Take-Two
At least with EA you get complete games on a cartridge.
I hate how Take Two (and now Bethesda) put on half games with mandatory downloads, or download codes in a box.
Re: Random: Holiday-Themed Game Seasonal Assistant Coming To The Wii U eShop Early On In 2021
I still wait for GTAV on Wii U.
Re: Random: Disgruntled Fans Spam Nintendo Tweet In Response To YouTube Soundtrack Takedowns
Re: Poll: What's The Best Switch Game Of 2020? It's Time To Rate Your Favourites
My favourites of 2020, as by playtime x fun:
1. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
2. Xenoblade Chronicles - Definitive Edition
3. Super Mario 3D All-Stars
4. Paper Mario: The Origami King
5. La-Mulana 1 & 2 - Hidden Treasures Edition
I really need to get Axiom Verge 2 and try Hades.
I also completed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in co-op. I'd put it in 6th, but I don't own it.
Re: Monster Hunter Movie Director And Star Apologise To Chinese Viewers For "Racist" Joke
Re: Developers Of The New Perfect Dark Will Treat It "Very Carefully"
It has those cyan sliding doors! Sold!
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
Re: The Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter Will Be Revealed During The Game Awards
CHIBI-ROBO.
SAKI.
ISAAC.
Come on, where are Nintendo's Dairantou All-Stars?
But the 8-bit unofficial reveal leak trailer looks so real!
SPOILER WARNING anyway: https://youtu.be/_ZtIqTPYy58
Is this truly deconfirmed?
Oof.. Fortnite... How was Jonesy able to overrun Doomguy?
Re: Rocket League Season 2 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
I just checked for updates on Switch games, and these games got one as well:
Dauntless
DC Universe Online
Dungeons & Dragons: Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms
Eternal - Card Game
Fantasy Strike
Fortnite
Onigiri
Paladins: Champions of the Realm
Pokémon Café Mix
Rocket League
The Elder Scrolls: Blades
The Four Kings: Casino and Slots
Vigor

Also, not long ago:

And now two eShop F2P online games were taken off the Switch eShop. Dawn of the Breakers and Get Amped Mobile servers are not longer available. Both games developed by CyberStep can't be downloaded or played beyond their title screens anymore. The "Project Octopath Traveler" download is also long gone, and not re-downloadable.
