I love it so far! The visuals can be downright dreadful, but the way the formula has been reworked to suit a more safari-in-the-open-wilderness kind of feel is done in a really tight manner. For the first time I feel like I'm truly walking through a vast expanse filled with dangerous creatures and like I actually have some genuine interaction with the Pokémon. They all have personalities that exist on more than just a description o a Pokédex page. This even ties in how you might go about catching them. Aggressive ones need to be fought, skittish ones often require stealth and then there's the occasional derpy ones like Bidoof or Magikarp, which you can just stand next to and lob a ball at. Pokémon can also attack you instead of just your Pokémon. It really ties into the idea of Pokémon and humans not being used to each other yet. The bosses even require action-based gameplay. Unheard of!
What about Arcanine. I say Arc-ani-ine. You know, with it being a combination of 'arcane' and 'canine'. Where'd people get 'Arc-uh-nine' from? Makes zero sense.
I had the infamous Joy-Con drift issue. I replaced the control stick for a cheap one I bought a whole bunch of for about 2 euros apiece. Works like a charm again ever since.
My DS Lite screen just started having black spots all of a sudden. I have no clue why that happened. I tried to replace it but it stopped working altogether so I replaced my DS Lite with a secondhand one.
Then there was the Wii disc drive which just wouldn't properly grab GameCube discs anymore for some inexplicable reason. I could only play Wii games on it. I got that replaced with a new disc drive and it works very well ever since.
It seems this game only has the original 151 Pokémon in it. If there's no way, even in the postgame, to get the later ones as well, like you could in FireRed & LeafGreen, a 60 euro price tag is a bit too steep for me.
I've used both a million times but at least I could usually evolve them. The fact you couldn't evolve Pikachu massively pissed me off in VC Yellow. Despite the increased stats it had in that game, it just was not natural. I just never really liked Pikachu. Raichu is where it's at for me so why can't I get it? It was such a feeling of vindication when I send that snotty yellow brat over to Sun and finally evolved him into that wicked cool surfer dude Raichu. Only makes sense that the surfing Pikachu evolved into Alolan Raichu. It just felt right. What does not feel right is playing through the entire game in Yellow, find Mewtwo at the end of the game and still have a tiny lil' mouse to use your paralysis move. Like, why does it need to be this way? It's just so contrary to the way your Pokémon are supposed to grow with you, except maybe when it'd been a one-stage Pokémon. I picked Eevee so it'll at least feel just a wee bit more different from Yellow, but I doubt I'll even keep my starter if I can't even evolve it in either game. Come to think of it, perhaps with Eevee it's even more offensive because evolution is the whole concept the little guy is built around.
If it's anything like Pokémon GO, it would basically be Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Check mah 22CP House Elf and 60CP Doxy.
In all seriousness. This could be a very interesting game if they flesh it out a bit more than Pokémon GO. Besides collecting and raiding it's pretty boring. As long it doesn't have Hyppogryph EX-Raids I'm good.
I'm definitely going to pick it up, but it does kind of feel wrong that these are looking to become the games we should have gotten with the first Sun/Moon to begin with. There was not too much in terms of post game content in those games. They do that very often. X/Y had very little postgame content as well, while OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire had lots of optional islands and legendary Pokémon to collect. And before that I was dissapointed with Black/White, while Black2/White2 felt much bigger, more finished and much more satisfying. It kind of feels cheap buying a game while you know there will probably be a similar but better experience a year later.
I'm really liking what I've seen about this game. This definitely feels more akin to what they did with Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, with a completely new story, rather than just a Pokémon Yellow-style enhanced version.
As marvellous as these games are, the existence of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, which also work on 3DS, make it very hard for me to warrant a purchase of this game.
It's already been in the first four generations, so I personally wouldn't mind if it's not in the new games. If it is it would be pretty cool, although don't think it's gonna be in them. That guy in the trailer is a Dragon-type trainer in the first Sun and Moon games, not an Electric-type guy. But let's say Kanto is in these games. I'd say it would provide an elegant way of allowing you to obtain the classic forms of the Pokémon that got Alolan forms in Sun/Moon.
They have much lower defense than Articuno and Lugia, so you should be able to take them down easily, even with 7 or 8 players around lv. 30. I caught two in a row the other day. I still really need a Lugia though.
It's very solid. The four episodes take less than two hours to finish, but the story holds up on its own all the while retaining the distinct style and atmosphere of the video games. This really is Castlevania, not just some loose derivative with the same name. I'm really looking forward to the second season. I feel the first two seasons would have been better off combined into one. After four episodes I want more. As solid as it is, four episodes are not enough to truly make it shine as bright as it could. Give it a watch, though, as it deserves to do well enough to go beyond a second season. Armitage is a perfect cast as Trevor Belmont, by the way.
I must admit that a Raspberry Pi with RetroPie works like a charm. The only thing that I found to be really buggy is Nintendo 64 emulation, but thing like NES, SNES, the Game Boy series, Mega Drive and even PlayStation 1, among many others, work beautifully. Even if you are a collector of old video games, but don't have enough room to hook up all your systems, this emulation-based setup is a good way to keep backups of your entire collection in one place. It's very convenient. Off course the legality of all this may be an issue for many, but if you stick to games you actually have I don't think there's any moral objection to be had.
This looks like it could be to Metroid II what Metrod: Zero Mission is to Metroid I. I can't wait. I could never really get into the first two games as they lack a map system among other features Metroid games and their derivatives are known for nowadays. This is high on my wishlist.
Please note the name trick only works once. I would add that Espeon and Umbreon are not entirely random. If you walk Eevee as your buddy for a distance longer than ten kilometers, it will evolve into Umbreon or Espeon as opposed to Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon. Which one out of these two it will be depends on the time of day. It will be Espeon during the day or Umbreon during the night.
Looks similar to the Castlevania games on PSX, DS and GBA. Very interesting. WayForward has a solid record on high-quality side-scrolling platformers. This could be really good. It certainly looks amazing, visually.
I don't know about the technical limitations of potential digital versions of DS games on the 3DS, but the DS remakes would be a lot better to have on the eShop.
I think they will just do the usual thing they've been doing since the first Game Boy and use Pokémon to milk out the old system. The Switch will get the eighth generation eventually. Probably just an error.
Rayman 3 is one of the finest platformers on that system. Rayman Advance is a crappy, stripped-down port of the far superior original. Just download the PSX version on PSN or the PC version on GoG instead. The DSiWare version is still available on the 3DS eShop and is pretty solid as well and has the frustrating difficulty toned down a bit by adding extra save points and a bigger health bar.
I'd still say Ocarina of Time is the best one. It always felt like the most balanced on in terms of mending familiarity, innovation, storyline, music, controls, level design and visuals into a sum greater than its parts.
I'm still surprised this feature never came back after HeartGold and SoulSilver. I hope they will do it again some day as it was a mostly useless yet fun feature. I'm all for it, especially if it has added benefits such as items being collected (like candies in Pokémon GO) or Pokémon growing more friendly if you let them walk with you.
I liked the OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire demo a bit better as it allows you to go to different areas each playthrough. This one has you waiting a couple days before something new can be done. In the meantime, there isn't much to do though.
At least I liked how you can actually enter the buildings and find wild Pokémon in the city. In the Hoenn demo, the city itself was kinda dissapointing and the little islets was where all the action was.
This looks even more vivid and alive than X and Y. I hope the departure from the grid isn't just something that occurs in some places. I've played too many Pokémon games that showed you mostly those parts in the trailer, but once you actually played it, it was like an old Game Boy cartridge 80% of the time. I hope I won't be deceived like I have been these past couple generations.
This looks amazing. I can't wait. If it has a bit more post-game than X and Y and a bit more variety in Pokémon than OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire, this might just turn out to be the finest Pokémon game yet.
I'm really digging that surfing Raichu. Remember the Pikachu with the surfing minigame in Yellow? If you could ave evolved that Pikachu this could have been its evolved form.

Rowlet, easily the cutest Pokémon I've seen so far. It's so delightfully round. And it evolves into a badass Ghost owl to boot.
