What disturbs me about groups like PETA is how they try to apply human characteristics to animals and appeal to emotions humans have towards them. It really is much more about dealing with humans than it is about dealing with cruelty against animals.
BTW: I have always wondered what vegans feed their dogs. Isn't there meat in dog food? Is there vegetarian dog food, too? Is it OK for dogs to eat meat because they are animals?
I admit I failed to resist checking out the leaks, but at least it is better than it was for earlier games. Now that we have the games at the same day as Japanese players, much less will have been spoiled when you buy the game. With Black and White, you still had to wait until the game was translated in English. Now you don't have to wait for months, while learning everything there is to know before the game is even released.
I am much more excited about these games than I was about the Black and White versions three years ago, which failed to truly impress me after playing them. Black and White 2 were a little more substantial, but very similar to the first games after playing through the main quest.
I am particularly curious about the Mega Evolutions and how much of an impact it has on the gameplay. (Please, Gyarados, have a Water/Dragon Mega Evolution)
Another feature I am excited about are those Fairy-type Pokémon. Apparently, many older ones are now part Fairy, particularly the Normal- and Psychic-type variations. They provide a good counter for Sableye, Spiritomb and those tough-as-nails Dragon creatures, which could only be countered by Ice and other Dragons before. Still, no good counter for Tynamo and its evolutions, unfotunately.
I loved Origins and this is high on my wishlist as well. Rayman has always been a platform series with some very clever and wholly original gameplay elements coupled with sublime level design. They should make another 3D Rayman, though. We have not seen one of those in ten years. Especially Rayman 2 is a game that I played a lot in the past and one I return to very often because it just so damn fun to play.
This pretty much explains why I do not play games on a mobile phone and why the argument that handheld dedicated gaming systems are outdated is complete nonsense.
My only real gripes with this game are the amount of cutscenes and the fact that the levels were rendered in 3D. The cutscenes should have been restrained to the start and end of the levels and it would be fine, even if you would still have to bring up the pause screen to skip them. The 3D-rendered environments felt out of place in combination with the pretty 2D sprites and backgrounds. While I liked the colourful textures on the 3D elements, they should have done it like Wario Land: The Shake Dimension or Rayman Origins. The levels in those games were made pretty much completely with 2D art and looked all the better for it. While the graphics in Ducktales Remastered are great, this really is the difference between an 8 or a 9 for me when it comes to graphics.
You can get both of these for 35 euros each here in The Netherlands when you buy them secondhand from game shops. And then there's stil plenty of new copies for roughly 40-45 euros apiece.
The whole updateable firmware thing pretty much solved the piracy issue. This new device can be easily countered by making system updates that block it.
Oh, and all the people denouncing video game piracy, and they have a pretty good point, obviously never pirated music or movies. Yeah, right. I just simply do not believe you.
Pokemon is the most addictive game ever. I remember being in the final year of elementary school when it came out. Within months everyone was into it, to a point where it became scary. Kids started stealing trading cards from the younger kids, resulting in them being banned from the schoolyard. I never cared much for them and got tired of the cartoon quickly, but I remained a fan of the game. That is where the whole thing started and getting a copy of it was great. This was the closest thing to being a real trainer. Not only that, but it turned out to be very addictive and well thought out. The Gold and Silver versions were even better and have not been topped ever since (except the DS remakes). Never was I so stoked for a game as in the spring of 2001. Bought Gold as soon as possible. I hope I can finally say the new X and Y versions will be better than the Johto games this October. Still stoked like a kid for it.
The bird is really cute. The ability to ride that goat thing intrigues me as well. I wonder what the purpose to that is. Perhaps it will be similar to the roller blades shown earlier or the bike and the Running Shoes from earlier games. I wonder if it an HM move that works on land like Surf and Waterfall do in water.
Traded in my old Diamond and two other DS games so I could get Black for ten euros. Later replaced Diamond with Platinum to get my Sinnoh kick. Also picked up Black 2 earlier this year. I really love playing all these old games. Each has its own unique world and different characters, making each game a unique-yet-familiar experience.
Whoa! That's a lot of systems in one. I've been thinking about getting a console like this for a while, but I want to know more about compatibility issues. Apperently there are a few games that don't run properly on some of these clone consoles. But still, for less than $100,- you probably cant go wrong anyway.
This looks great. I still have the portable Game Boy edition.
What I still do noy get, though, is what happened with the other two nieces. There's only one of them and Huey, Dewey and Louie. And why did they replace Donald's role in the comics with that pilot dude?
I found Digimon to be the most shameless rip-off of Pokémon back in the day and I see no reason why it still wouldn't be so today. Digimon is an abomination in the eyes of Arceus.
Best of the old generation of DS systems. Better design and brighter screen than the old model, but still compatible with GBA games, something I prefer greatly over the unimpressive DSiWare catalog.
Why can't you just write your o's properly, America. All you English-speaking countries with your minor differences make it hard to learn English for the rest of us, so I'll just stick with the British standard as I was taught at school.
At least I'm glad I live in a country with its own language.
Damn fine game, but a ten? For that to be justified the weapons are too imbalanced. Once you have the Metal Blade, you can destroy half of all the bosses with relative ease.
The overworld doesn't look vert impressive at all but at least it is finally in 3D perspective rather than top-down. I absolutely love the battle screen with its cell-shaded Pokémon. I get a Paris vibe from that screenshot with the Eiffel Tower-looking building. Does that mean this game will be European-styled? That would be cool as I liked the Japanese vibe of Johto and Unova's North American looks.
The fact that piracy was so widespread on DS was because of the fact that the first two models did not have any firmware updates, unlike the 3DS. With firmware updates you can simpy block flash card hardware. You are forced to buy a new one much more often, making it more of a hassle to use flash cards.
I don't care what the haters say, this game was great fun. I wouldn't probably have liked it as much if GameFaqs had not existed when I played it first, though.
Did anyone actually notice how Jynx is portrayed as purple in more recent media outings? The black version has been dropped because of the race controversy.

Re: Feature: Our Favourite, Quirky and Baffling Pokémon X & Y Moments So Far
@ Hunter-D You can only do that after bonding enough with it in Pokémon-amie. Don't forget that.
Just a few awesome things:
Too bad they did bring that godawful Pokéradar back but not the Vs. Seeker. That's a bummer, but other than that. Awesome.
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Eighteen
This weekend I will once again embark on a quest to become the very best (like no-one ever was). Biggest no-brainer ever.
Re: Pokemon X & Y Designer: Creature-Making Isn’t Easy
I wonder what didn't make the cut if you have Klink, Klefki or Vannilite.

Re: Guide: How To Capture Video And Screenshots From Your 3DS
It supposedly is really well done. As for me, I find it expensive for now. We'll see if Nintendo adds this feature to future game systems.
Re: Pokémon X & Y Torchic Distribution Announced
I will download it, but I will use Fletchling instead. It evolves into a Fire/Flying-type with Flame Body, which will make breeding go much faster.

Re: Meet Aurorus, Another Evolution in Pokémon X & Y
There's also another Pokémon that was revealed today. It's Tyrantrum, the other fossil evolution. It evolves from Tyrunt, the T-rex pokémon.
Re: Junichi Masuda Confirms That the Pokémon X & Y Overworld is 2D Only
That sucks! As long as it still exists within the battle screen, I'm still kind of OK with that, though.

At least it still has a touch screen.
