Eevee58%
Feel free to let us know which version you went for in the comments below. Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! launch for Nintendo Switch on 16th November.
Let's Go, Magikarp would have made more sense. Better still if it's shiny and knows bounce (and maybe a bonus exclusive Let's Go move to make up for its poor moveset).
If enough people pressured Nintendo into it, they could release Magikarp simultaneously with these two.
I think it would be a lot more fun if the alternate Let's Go game featured a "dud" Pokémon instead.
I'm buying both (as I always do) and I generally favour the less popular of the two versions, so I shall be choosing Eevee, but I would choose Magikarp instead (if given the option).
I thought this page was talking about a Pikachu vs Eevee Splatfest for a minute. I was like "isn't it too early for a Pikachu vs Eevee Splatfest", until I realize it wasn't.
Anyway, when that Splatfest does happen, I would chose Pikachu.
Why would you choose an Eevee that can't f'ing evolve?! This is ridiculous. Alright, Pikachu is not suuper useful either. But come on! An eevee that doesn't evolve is just blasphemy
They're both cute as a button, but I've always preferred Eevee because of the Eeveelutions ..however, I believe that the starter Pokemon in the 'Let's GO' games won't be able to evolve - so I might just have to flip a coin to help me decide which edition to get!
@Silly_G I am not sure whether to buy either of these announced games... but I would buy a Magikarp edition just to see it flopping around the screen when you are walking! That would never get old!
Can't wait to nuzlocke these games. Make it extra hard (since you'll be able to basically choose each pokemon per route) if Pikachu/Eevee faint you'll lose the whole locke.
Eevee - an adorable furball of vast potential and possibilities. Never been too partial towards Pikachu - in Blue, I just evolved him to Raichu for pokedex purposes and I don't think he left the PC ever after. Unless I traded him in-game, I don't remember.
If I’m being competitive then I’m picking Pikachu but playing a game competitively is job and I already have too many jobs. I actually want to relax and enjoy this game. So I’m going Eevee which I find more entertaining.
I personally prefer Pikachu since he can get the light ball, and he is somewhat decent in the later game if you never evolve him (In XY I had a Pikachu that i carried on my main team up till about Level 82 or so, and he still was a decent asset).
Plus, I just find the idea of having Pikachu perched up on my shoulder as I run around more entertaining and exciting rather than have Eevee awkwardly sit on my hat.
I hate to be this guy but Gary didn't start with Eevee in the anime. He started with Squirtle and later caught an Eevee. However you did remind me of Pikachu and the ketchup bottle so I can't exactly be disappointed by an easily made mistake.
Here is one thing about Pikachu and Eevee that you must know. Your starter Pika or Eevee will not be able to be evolved in any way shape or form. However any wild Pika or Eevee you catch may be evolved (:
Eevee sure is adorable but not a very exciting combatant without evolving... Will depend on the other version differences I guess.
As much as I love the OG 151 I do think they should feature the full evolution chains for these Pokémon e.g. kingdra, crobat and maybe the baby forms?
I mean they can't undo Steel and Fairy type right?
My sons always each pick a game whenever Pokemon game pairs come out. This time they both unequivocally said Eevee. Didn't think much of it but now I'll have to ask them at dinner.
I would pick Eevee, Pikachu has had enough time in the spotlight.
But really it simply comes down to this: xxx on your head >> xxx on your back
Pikachu. Objectively ,he's pretty much the perfect mascot since he's simple in terms of design while also keeping unique characteristics that make him quite easy to recognize. If people see his ears, tail, or even the yellow color most will instantly recognize it, regardless of how much they like it/dislike it. Add that he has an iconic, recognizable voice that fits the design perfectly and the distinctive personality that he has in the show and it's easy to understand why he's so appealing, again, regardless of personal opinions.
I'´m not saying people can't like Eevee more or that they can't dislike Pikachu, that's perfectly valid. But Pikachu does have all the elements to be the face of such a huge franchise.
Also, while like Eevee, he's pretty bland compared to Pikachu. He's not as recognizable or unique in my opinion.
Bit of a wonky comparison IMO, Pro for Eevee: It can evolve into 8 pokemon, Con: It refuses to evolve and 5 of those evolutions aren’t in the game anyway! Hmmm... ~_~
That being said, it’s Eevee for me, i’m just not a big Pikachu fan.
@Sharks I know, that's what I was saying. It doesn't matter that Eevee has 8 evolutions, five of them aren't even available in the game, and you don't get the other three by picking Eevee as a starter.
I had originally thought I would get Eevee, but since it cannot evolve I guess I will get Pikachu. Assuming the game goes like a real pokemon game and I need to build a good team to beat it though it doesn't matter because nether of them will be in my final 6.
My choice depends on one factor: will we be able to evolve our starter? While Eevee has 8 evolutions, if Eevee can evolve, we'll likely be limited to the Kanto 3, Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Flareon is hot garbage, but Vaporeon is an excellent water type and Jolteon vastly outclasses Raichu in both Speed and Special Attack. So if we can evolve our starter, then Eevee. It's not even a contest. But if we can't evolve them, then I'd say Pikachu. Eevee is a normal type with awful stats, even for an NFE. Eevee has a terrible movepool and will fail to KO just about anything. At least Pikachu has an electric STAB and Thunder Wave to help deal with Misty.
Part of me wants to get the Eevee version, but knowing that some Pokemon will game-specific adds a huge gamble.
I’m guessing that Pikachu version will have a non-evolvable Pikachu starter, only Raichus’ available to catch and one Eevee tied into the story, while Eevee version will have a non-evolvable Eevee starter and Pikachus’ available to catch.
Eevee, still traumatized by how mean Pikachu is to Ash in the anime. Seriously all those shocks can't be good for that boy. Eevee OTOH, never hurt anybody.
I've used both a million times but at least I could usually evolve them. The fact you couldn't evolve Pikachu massively pissed me off in VC Yellow. Despite the increased stats it had in that game, it just was not natural. I just never really liked Pikachu. Raichu is where it's at for me so why can't I get it? It was such a feeling of vindication when I send that snotty yellow brat over to Sun and finally evolved him into that wicked cool surfer dude Raichu. Only makes sense that the surfing Pikachu evolved into Alolan Raichu. It just felt right. What does not feel right is playing through the entire game in Yellow, find Mewtwo at the end of the game and still have a tiny lil' mouse to use your paralysis move. Like, why does it need to be this way? It's just so contrary to the way your Pokémon are supposed to grow with you, except maybe when it'd been a one-stage Pokémon. I picked Eevee so it'll at least feel just a wee bit more different from Yellow, but I doubt I'll even keep my starter if I can't even evolve it in either game. Come to think of it, perhaps with Eevee it's even more offensive because evolution is the whole concept the little guy is built around.
Sadly no neither option, if the game ends up being better than i'm expecting i may get a version, but pricing and what i've seen so far has me very negative on this title. If it turns out better than what we've seen would probably be pikachu just because Pokemon Yellow edition was my first pokemon game.
@gerebris Probably so. Wasn't there a red/blue Splatfest for the first Splatoon or something? I'm not a Pokémon fan so I can't remember what it was exactly--that being said, I can't wait to pick up Let's Go and hopefully finally get into the franchise
Eevee all the way! I've always liked the Eevee line from the beginning, usually choosing to go with a Jolteon over a Pikachu for the electric party slot. Also helping with this decision are my sister's kids who all love Pikachu and who will be receiving their own copy of the game as a random "best Uncle" gift. It's a win/win for me!
1: If they can't evolve I don't want an Eevee. Eevee that can evolve is awesome and interesting. You can either evolve into one you know you want or pick a type of Pokemon you're lacking.
2: My son (4 will be 5 when this comes out) is super into Pokemon right now and he prefers Pikachu. Therefore, I will be buying the Pikachu version so we can play together.
Personally, between these two I could not care less. I just want to get my Squirtle and I'll be happy.
Pretty sure Eevee will get a buff like Pikachu did in OG Yellow. Going with Eevee. I don’t even like Pikachu, and it’s not like I’d even be using the thing, I’d catch a better electric type ASAP. Might as well pick the cuter one.
I don’t even think Pikachu is a good mascot. I’ve only used the electric rat once (besides in OG Yellow version) and that was in Ultra Moon with the goal of an Alolan Raichu. And if I have Yellow version still on original GB and on VC, Eevee is something different this time!
@ShadJV I mean, you could do that, but then it wouldn't be a challenge. Kind of the point of a nuzlocke is to challenge yourself, and to do that you can make up some crazy rules for yourself. Now that we can have more than one file I can have a regular play through going and a nuzlocke at the same time, more incentive to do that.
@NapalmPsalm I know how nuzlocke work, I’m doing one. My point is, what incentive will you have to use the starter? There’s no PC anymore so you’ll have all your Pokémon right on you, how will you decide what battles to send that starter out in as opposed to one of your dozen other Pokémon?
@ShadJV What incentive? The same incentive as playing a nuzlocke in the first place, difficulty. If you don't use it than you are "cheating" yourself on the difficulty. That being said, making Lets Go difficult will probably be... difficult.
Have you seen the coverage of Eevee's movepool? He's not limited to a high accessibility to Electric type moves. Plus, he has better stats overall in contrast to Pikachu.
@NapalmPsalm are you saying you’re gonna use your starter in every battle? That’s what I mean. What are the rules you’re giving yourself on how often you send it out?
I agree these games will probably be easy and making them difficult will be difficult. I was thinking of streaming a nuzlocke of them but... how? I’ll have to see more I guess. I mean, can’t be like, “no grinding”, because where will you grind? Unless the game expects you to grind by catching Pokémon repeatedly, it seems like it must be on an XP curve so you’re always appropriately leveled for trainers (unless there’s other features we’ve yet to hear about, which I suppose is possible). And the nature of wild Pokémon makes a nuzlocke difficult anyways in terms of catching, it removes the randomness... like I could result on viewer input but I don’t have many viewers and it seems like that’d result on just using the weakest Pokémon with mostly normal types (which I guess is sorta challenging?) Hmm... speedruns are possible but I don’t think RPGs are particularly fun to speedrun (in my opinion)... maybe an only unevolved Pokémon run? With some sort of nuzlocke rules? I’m sure the intention is to make it easy and hard for players to get too stuck though. So I do see your point in that regard; I’m sure the community will come up with something but I guess it’s too early to be sure what that is. :-/
I voted for Eevee but I might end up changing my mind. I heard our starters in this game refuse to evolve, like Pikachu in Yellow. In which case the hope will be getting a Light Ball for Pikachu to make him actually useful beyond the second gym. But also if I can still get an Eevee in Celadon, like we could in the orignals, then Let's Go Pikachu seems the overwhelmingly better choice, as THAT Eevee could actually evolve.
The thing about Pikachu being the popular pleb choice is true... But I never particularly liked Eevee. Especially if it's limited to the base form anyway, which makes him a glorified Rattata. While a Pikachu is still electric even if he can't evolve. Sure, that Rock gym is going to be a hurdle for Pikachu, but it's not like Rock Pokemon are weak to Normal-type attacks either. Gonna get a Mankey for the job anyway.
I don’t think you’ll be able to evolve your starter. So what it can evolve into in other games are really irrelevant.
That said: why go with some of the most overused and downright worn out cute Pokémon? Why not bring in some of the other cute Pokémon from generation 1? They could let people choose Jigglypuff, Magikarp, Slowpoke, Gastly or Dratini this time! I personally would have preferred all those 5 to Eevee or Pikachu.
Choosing between Eevee and Pikachu will probably be a battle of who I’m the least annoyed by, and considering how fast Eevee becomes dull, I will probably go with Pikachu. To some people Eevee is “different & new”. I’m not one of those people. Actually, I feel like I run into Pikachu way less than Eevee in Pokémon games.
I don't much care that Eevee can't evolve here. It does have uses, and as well as that I'm currently training a team of six Eevee in Moon and not one of them will be evolving. I think that says a lot about who one of my favourites is.
It's gotta be Pikachu. Eevee is just a boring Normal type (who will also struggle to do much damage in the first gym) until it evolves, and you can't even do that!
when you're friends all get eevee, so you're stuck to get pikachu... good thing i saw that demo they showed for the game. for some reason the pikachu knew double kick. go look it up. so you don't have to worry about rock types just the level of your mon

''Eevee can evolve into eight different Pokémon that are all different types. Yes, EIGHT. If that's not cool to you then we simply can't please you.''
Not really a ''pro'' in this game...
Pikaa...!!
Pikachu...!!
Eevee all the way! Pikachu is too overrated, and Eevee is way more versatile!
The thumbnail made me think this was a Splatfest.
@AxeltheBuizel I dunno, but Electric is still more useful than a pure Normal type
Pikachu, I choose you!
Let's Go, Magikarp would have made more sense. Better still if it's shiny and knows bounce (and maybe a bonus exclusive Let's Go move to make up for its poor moveset).

Eevee for sure, I love Pikachu and all but...Eevee
@Octane Buys it cool, thats why they listed it as a con as well
The answer is Umbreon obviously, but I don't think that's going to happen this time being a re-imagining of Yellow.
@MasterJay Yeah.. but.. that doesn't make it a positive point then, does it?
Do I smell a Splatfest?
I thought this page was talking about a Pikachu vs Eevee Splatfest for a minute. I was like "isn't it too early for a Pikachu vs Eevee Splatfest", until I realize it wasn't.
Anyway, when that Splatfest does happen, I would chose Pikachu.
@Octane sure it does, what's not positive about being cool 😉
Except, Eevee will only have the OG 3 forms in this game in its vanilla state without any trading involved so there is not 8 technically.
Why would you choose an Eevee that can't f'ing evolve?! This is ridiculous. Alright, Pikachu is not suuper useful either. But come on! An eevee that doesn't evolve is just blasphemy
For now I'm going with Eevee but having Pikachu is looking better by the minute.
"Pikachu, I choose you!"
"Eevee, leave me"
To be honest I won't battle with either one so I'll probably go with Pikachu because Pokemon Yellow was my first Pokemon game.
As soon as I can catch Nidoran I'll train him until he gets double kick, just like the good ol' days.
They're both cute as a button, but I've always preferred Eevee because of the Eeveelutions ..however, I believe that the starter Pokemon in the 'Let's GO' games won't be able to evolve - so I might just have to flip a coin to help me decide which edition to get!
@Not_Soos I immediately went in to hype mode for the same reason...
Down with Pikachu, evolve to Raichu! Raichu needs love too, GameFreak.
@Silly_G
I am not sure whether to buy either of these announced games... but I would buy a Magikarp edition just to see it flopping around the screen when you are walking! That would never get old!
Can't wait to nuzlocke these games. Make it extra hard (since you'll be able to basically choose each pokemon per route) if Pikachu/Eevee faint you'll lose the whole locke.
I wanted Eevee but this article says I won’t be able to evolve it.
Eevee - an adorable furball of vast potential and possibilities. Never been too partial towards Pikachu - in Blue, I just evolved him to Raichu for pokedex purposes and I don't think he left the PC ever after. Unless I traded him in-game, I don't remember.
Eevee all the way!! The first Pokemon I ever saw and still my favourite
If I’m being competitive then I’m picking Pikachu but playing a game competitively is job and I already have too many jobs. I actually want to relax and enjoy this game. So I’m going Eevee which I find more entertaining.
I rather have 1ups by my side

Pikachu.
I don't really get why anyone would want an Evee that can't evolve..

Eevee.
Never been a fan of Pikachu.
I dont know much about pokemon, but I do know these two. As said, everyone does. Still, I like the cat/fox thing. Evee ahoy!
@Octane You can't evolve them you know.

Probably Pikachu. If they decide to keep the mini-game in this one, chances are you might be able to get him on a surfboard.
Neither.
Well I already preordered Eevee because my brother wants Pikachu sooooo....
Bit of a wonky comparison IMO, Pro for Eevee: It can evolve into 8 pokemon, Con: It refuses to evolve and 5 of those evolutions aren’t in the game anyway! Hmmm... ~_~

Original pokémons refuse to evolve (as per Yellow version and already confirmed) therefore Eevee is the weakest Pokémon ever (normal type...)
Pikachu only because an eevee that can't evole is useless
Pikachu, cause I am a traditionalist that way.
@Not_Soos And I'm pretty sure Nintendo will make it happen. I mean, even ninja turtles became a splatfest...
I'm going with Pikachu for two main reasons.
"Eevee was originally the starter Pokémon of your rival in Pokémon Yellow, and also Ash's rival Gary in the Pokémon anime."
WRONG! Gary's starter was confirmed to be Squirtle, though he did have an Eevee.
Always Eevee if not absol
Pretty sure Eevee will get a buff like Pikachu did in OG Yellow. Going with Eevee. I don’t even like Pikachu, and it’s not like I’d even be using the thing, I’d catch a better electric type ASAP. Might as well pick the cuter one.
I don’t even think Pikachu is a good mascot. Originally it was going to be Clefairy, and a normal type mascot seems better as it’s more neutral, it’s the face of the series, it’s not meant to be the most competitive. I’ve only used the electric rat once (besides in OG Yellow version) and that was in Ultra Moon with the goal of an Alolan Raichu. And if I have Yellow version still on original GB and on VC, Eevee is something different this time!
@NapalmPsalm but couldn’t you just not use the starter, making it a moot point?
My dog's name is Eevee, and I would never betray her for a mouse.
@Octane he can't evolve in this game
Eevee. I like them both, but I feel like the cute little evolutionary wonder doesn't get nearly as much love. Plus, I feel that Pikachu is overrated.
Edit: Apparently many agree with me.
Pikachu, but only because of Raichu, and since this Pikachu can't evolve, I'm going to say neither.
@link12684 Where did I say that he could?
Atlus, please make Shin Megami Tensei Hee ho! Jack Frost & Hee ho! Pyro Jack
@ShadJV What incentive? The same incentive as playing a nuzlocke in the first place, difficulty. If you don't use it than you are "cheating" yourself on the difficulty. That being said, making Lets Go difficult will probably be... difficult.
I wish there was an Onix or Krabby edition.
my fav pokemon is alolan raichu :/
I chose pikachu even if he/she can't evolve to a (alolan) raichu.
I hope you can evolve Pikachu into Alolan Raichu. Only one can hope
Just waiting for Pokemon: Let’s Go Charmander
Let’s Go Squirtle
Let’s Go Baulbasaur.
I’m surprised the love for evee it does nothing for me. It’s cute I guess but no nostalgia towards it.
I choose the one that everyone think by thinking to a Pokemon. The pure emblem of them all. The little sparky mouse. Pikachu!!!
eevee is a cute poofer
pikachu is a sneaky squeeker that zaps you.
The choice seems obvious to me.
Neither, not interested in getting Pokémon Go console version.
Pikachu is for normies
Better choose a normie type then
I rode the Pikachu hype originally so it'd be Eevee this time.
Eevee is way cuter - auto-buy for me - unless it ends up being another Star Allies kind of non-game.

So I do see your point in that regard; I’m sure the community will come up with something but I guess it’s too early to be sure what that is. :-/
PIKA!!, PIKA!! . The electric mouse gets my vote.
I know this sounds weird, but I don't like that Eevee sits on the trainers head, and for that reason, i'm out. Let's Go Pikachu!
Omnimon hands down is the best pokemon.
My wife is getting Pickachu, while I’m getting Eevee.
Since they both (supposedly) can't evolve they're both worthless and will get boxed immediately for mankey for the first gym
Where's my option to go with a Pokemon that can evolve?
While I will always love Pikachu, I’m probably going to Switch (pun intended) things up and get the let’s go Eevee version
So most went for the outsider. Sale number will tell us another story though!
Pikachu should be more helpful.
Normal types are boring.
Why won't Eevee evolve? That's stupid! What's it even good for then?
Sorry but Pika-flippin-chu is the most annoying Pokémon ever.
Eevee is just adorable, and immune to ghost-type attacks! Eevee simply rocks!
I don't much care that Eevee can't evolve here. It does have uses, and as well as that I'm currently training a team of six Eevee in Moon and not one of them will be evolving.
I think that says a lot about who one of my favourites is.
Eevee. Getting both versions anyways But my eldest and I are picking Eevee.
Eevee, because Vaporeon is one of my favorite Pokemon throughout all gens.
It's gotta be Pikachu. Eevee is just a boring Normal type (who will also struggle to do much damage in the first gym) until it evolves, and you can't even do that!
@Not_Soos
This is a great idea!
Still.. I don't know which one to choose.
I want "Let's Go, Tauros!"
If Eevee COULD evolve, I'd say Eevee. But it refuses. And lets face it, Eevee as it is does truly sucketh.
So Pikachu.

@TheBigK
Eevee has a higher base stat than Pikachu.
(Though it is with only Defense, Special Defense, and HP.)
when you're friends all get eevee, so you're stuck to get pikachu... good thing i saw that demo they showed for the game. for some reason the pikachu knew double kick. go look it up. so you don't have to worry about rock types just the level of your mon
I like them both, but I can't choose which one I like better. If I had to choose it probably would be Eevee
